Port Jervis Townhouses - EQUAL HOUSING OPPORTUNITY

The townhouses are owned by a woman who could care less about the tenants. The buildings are old…read moreand there has been no real upkeep on them. They won't fix anything until it's a huge problem and can't be ignored any longer or you call daily. "Repairs" are done by a maintenance man that would rather spend time hanging out smoking with his ex-wife who lives in one of the apartments. "Repairs" are never finished or half assed and maintenance blames the owner stating he is only allowed to work 20 hours a week. The owner and manager are never surprised when tenants tell them how the maintenance is performed and describe the maintenance guy as "so cheap it should be illegal." Several apartments have had such bad toilet or tub leaks that it ends up leaking through the ceiling. If something breaks don't expect it to be fixed in a timely manner or correctly. They will complain about a bike left on your front porch if they don't like you. But others who are "in" with management are permitted to do whatever they want. The walls are painted "Smokers yellow" and are impossible to keep clean. Dirty baseboard heaters that aren't even connected in the kitchen and bathroom. Outlets that "just don't work and they can't figure out why." There are dozens of reasons to go find somewhere else to rent! You'll be happier you spent a little more money on rent.

Never paid interest on money held, never provided any accounting of interest that would accrue. Overall condition of the property and apartment is poor and everything is decades old. A neighbor said they use toothpaste instead of spackle on walls and upkeep is near impossible. Maintenance is unpredictable. The person in the office was clueless and a woman who claimed to be the owner was a really nasty person. Being loud and obnoxious, she pushed past my sister to get inside as our family was celebrating a get-together. Apparently, they have a high turnover and it's easy to see why. Not a good place in an area that has seen better days (many, many, many decades ago).

Jane Woodhall manages this complex and she is one of the most vile evil characters I've ever dealt with in my life. If your loved one dies while while they reside here, prepare yourself for a battle to retrieve belongings. I had to jump through hoops to prove I was related, even after they knew my mom was one of the emergency contacts. My mom past away in January and my cousin in July and I was treated with such cold and callousness. They were very aware of the situation and offered very little to help. Even when my cousin required nursing home care, we asked if family could go in to retrieve her glasses and were told no. This place has zero compassion for the elderly folks who live here. To make matters worse, they told my sister and I, that her belongings would be taken to the dumpster if I couldn't get a will to show proof. Well we didn't have a will, and that was our mistake, regrettably. However, being treated terribly is no excuse. They knew who we were and just wanted to complicate matters. They had someone ready to move into my cousins and they made that clear that this request wasn't part of their job description. After begging and pleading they told me I could consult with an attorney. I told them that an attorney would be an extreme case, especially since I was looking for family photos and jewelry. All the furniture and housewares I asked to be donated to a shelter or animal rescue. They acted like that wasn't a reasonable request either. They said I would need to arrange that-even knowing I'm all the way in Florida. Finally, I spoke with Patty -Jane's supervisor. She was pleasant and kind. She told me she would consider evidence as proof of relationship. Upon inspection of countess voice mails, photos and letters they put everything in a box. I asked if they could ship it and told them I would pay. However, this request was refused! Upon todays arrival 8/16, they offered no help to get the box onto the car of my disabled loved one. So good riddance to this place and God help you if you have a loved one living here who passes away. Having a will is my best advice. Some people love to be as hostile as possible and look for ways to be unpleasant and this is one of those places. Have your ducks in a row if you reside here.

Their carpenters Bruce and Sherry are amazing! They built everything from framing to kitchen install and trim work. We really enjoyed watching them work, and their creative solutions to things that came up during the build. Project manager Eva was onsite almost daily during busy times. She responded promptly to any questions, and is still doing so with questions that we have now. 5 stars for quality and staff. My 4 star is for timing. When we signed up with them the website said 6 months for a stick built. Ours went a year and a month beyond that. I believe they are telling folks a more realistic timeline now. We hadn't planned for it, so it left us in an apartment for far too long. Would we have gone with them knowing that? Probably, as quality is more important in the long run. Thank you all for a beautiful and functional home. Amanda W. April 2026.
