Friends and family dropped by to enjoy the gathering, food and games. Kids were free to roam and play, and adults were free to reminisce and renew connections. It was a beautiful and rich time for us, and the site was perfect. My nephews rented the cabins, we were able to spend time with their wives all the grand nephews as well. The lodge worked well for serving food and for after hours relaxation.

The farms primary mission is to help fight food insecurity in Hamilton County and to provide nutrient rich organic vegetables to our local food bank. It is primarily staffed by volunteers, and I am one of them. I see people who believe in this mission out there working their butts off to help other people they will never know. That brings a tear to my eye. The vegetables are always first class, and last much longer than anything you can buy in local stores. I know where they are grown, I can walk among the fields and touch the carrot tops, I can smile at the chickens. They have gorgeous flowers starting this year that are part of the CSA membership. Get your veggies, get some flowers for your table. They have honey also, with a beekeeper who is dedicated to helping the farms mission. Too often when we think of what we receive, we judge it by its value against other similar items. In this case, with the volunteers that staff most of the farm, and the mission to fight food insecurity, there are no other veggies like this in Hamilton County. When comparing to a farmers market, it helps to understand that other local farms are not helping to feed the hungry, and are also not trying to grow sustainably. Teter is. I will gladly continue my membership! They rock!

I have purchased from the Simpson Family Farm several times in 2014. I will continue the routine…read more In the warmer months, I purchase from them at the Binford farmer's market in Indianapolis. In the colder months, they are setup in the downtown farmer's market. I know you can also visit the farm in Martinsville, I have yet to do so. Why... Why is it getting 5 stars and why will I continue? It is good meat. I have bought Chicken, and Beef from them. And, now that Thanksgiving is past, Turkey from them. My family is trying to buy as much organic, non-processed, "real-food" as possible. We had been buying organic chicken from the grocery. But, one day at the farmer's market, my friend said, "try this meat, it is the best." I bought a package of chicken. I was blown away. The meat was still on the bone, but to cut it off was like cutting butter. It sliced so easily (raw or cooked). And there was no - none - null - fat in it. The chicken from the store always seems to have a bit of gristle in the middle. Not this. And the taste - It was juicy and flavorful. So much better. Next I tried the beef - same thing. All grass fed, all great. The man said, if you like this, you should try our turkey. So, this Thanksgiving, we did. Everyone commented how flavorful the turkey was - and all I did was rub butter, salt and pepper with a little rosemary on it. Easy and the best ever turkey! Read the company's website on how they describe themselves as "better than organic." And, if you can, try it out. When my family cooks meat, we want it to be Simpson Family Farm meat!

They responded to all of my emails with the questions I had very quickly. The cabin sits off the side of their house w/ a porch looking out towards the farm. The inside of the cabin has two open bed rooms that are adjoining w/sliding doors that open up to a closet area between the two. While the cabin doesn't have central a/c there is a machine that works as an a/c, a heater, and a dehumidifier. We visited during the summer and this kept the cabin cool. The main room has a couch/trundle bed so you can sleep an extra 2 guests, as well as a dining table (plates, cups, utensils and some cookware available to use). I suggest bringing what you need as far as cooking utensils go, however Jennifer helped us get whatever we needed that we didn't bring. There is a sink, a microwave and a full size fridge, and while there isn't an oven/stove there is a griddle in the cabin that worked very well for us and a grill outside available to use. There were towels and rags for us in the bathroom which was nice since that's just one less thing we had to tote along with us. There is a great one person, jacuzzi tub that I called dibs on as soon as I got there. Very relaxing. Outside there is also a fire pit with bench seating, great for s'mores or telling scary ghost stories. Do yourself a favor and opt in for the hands on farm experience! Gather eggs, milk a goat and/or sheep, help feed the animals and get to meet them one on one, Alpacas, pigs, miniature horses, donkeys, chickens, ducks, goats, sheep! Not only is is fun but interesting. You'll learn all kinds of info about each and running a farm. We also got farm fresh duck and chicken eggs that we made for breakfast in the morning, YUMMY! We're hoping to come back for their fall festival if we're still in the area. Thanks again for hosting us, we are so appreciative of everything you guys did to make sure we had a wonderful experience.

This is a nice retreat from city life to rural country in Indiana. (We were passing through from Chicago.) The cottage is cute and comfortable and you can wake up sipping coffee and making yourself some fresh eggs from the farm. The best thing however are all the sweet animals. After the brief tour, you can walk around the property and say hello to the pig, cats, goats, lambs, chickens, donkeys, mules, alpacas, and more. This was a unique and wonderful experience. It was so peaceful watching the sunset while admiring the amazing country fields around you. We can't wait to return. Do yourself a favor and stay here!
