Temporary green on #8 of the heritage course. Paid $100 for this smh!!!
    Glenta A.

This used to be a course that was in great condition that was for a decent price ($50-60). I have no problem paying $100 for a course that is in pristine conditions, but to pay $100 for a course that has 1. Course renovations currently happening on all 3 9 hole courses, 2. Greens that are burnt out in areas with sand patches in other areas (heritage and tradition courses) and worst of all 3. A temporary green on #8 of the heritage course completely blows me away. I even asked about the orange fencing and was told it was only on the legacy course which was closed for renovations. I fully respect that the surrounding areas around the golf course have came a long way which can affect prices and I also understand that course renovations are not cheap, but to be charged $100 for the current conditions on 10/26/2024 is crazy and not appreciated!!! When I asked the assistant club pro about the price versus the conditions, he just looked at me with a blank stare and said the price is the price. As a member of the Tucker community for the last 7 years (Summer Oak community), that made me feel unappreciated because all other businesses in Tucker (especially on the square) have and show concern for the experience of their customers. Today's experience was very disheartening because I really want this course to shine like I have seen it in the past, but as of now I will gladly play somewhere else.

You can buy 2 rounds of golf at Heritage for $49.99 at Costco. Good deal. You have to pay more for Sat/Sun rounds before noon.

I struggled with whether to give Heritage Golf Links 3 or 4 stars. In the end, I decided to give the club 4 stars because the course layout is scenic and fun and the course was in good condition when we played. It was a great value and we enjoyed our round, but it was not without its fair share of problems. Heritage has three nines: Heritage, Legacy, and Tradition. Tradition is the club's newest nine. When we played, Tradition's greens had recently been aerated so we played Legacy followed by Heritage. From the tips, Legacy-Heritage measures 6,875 yards with a rating/slope of 70.6/138. The scorecard is confusing because it shows all three nines, but only totals for Legacy-Heritage. Also, the individual hole handicaps on the scorecard don't make sense. I don't know what's the easiest way to explain it other than to say if you play Heritage-Tradition or Tradition-Legacy, you'll be scratching your head wondering while multiple holes have the same handicap. For example, Heritage No. 2 is the No. 2 handicap hole, but so is Tradition No. 1. Huh? One thing I like about Heritage is it's not located too far from the city and it sure beats most, if not all, of the public courses inside the perimeter. However, Heritage is also a victim of its own success. This place is popular. It's the most crowded golf course I've ever played on, not just in metro Atlanta, but anywhere. I heard from a member that they schedule tee times 8 minutes apart here. That's fine, but for a public course that sees a lot of beginner and recreational golfers, that might be a bit too ambitious. I don't work in the golf industry, so what do I know? I was told to prepare for a 6-hour round and reviews on Yelp only confirmed the slow play. Our foursome was able to finish in about 5 hours, which I was fine with. From the 1st tee through the 18th green, there was always a group directly ahead and directly behind us. The course was very busy and they packed the rounds in good. Fortunately, we never had any major holdups and the foursome ahead of us kept pace pretty well. Our foursome paid $45.99 per golfer for a Saturday morning tee time through TeeOff.com. This was a good deal considering we would've paid $69 each if we booked directly through the pro shop. Heritage has a nice driving range with a couple different tiers. You hit off of grass as opposed to mats. Tickets for range balls can be purchased inside the pro shop. They have one of those machines where you punch a code into the ball dispenser to get balls. The practice putting green is also nice as is the short game area. Like the course, the range, practice putting green, and short game area were quite crowded during our visit. It was so crowded that we had problems getting a golf cart for our 10:40 AM tee time. All the carts had been taken. The fellow handing the bag drop had to grab a partially charged cart from the garage. It was missing a windshield, scorecard, and pin sheet. When we pulled up to the starter, he gave us the pin position for the day, but it did us no good because neither of our foursome's carts had a pin sheet. The starter said he'd get us a pin sheet, but we never got one. The course is very hilly with all sorts of undulations on both the fairways and greens. The greens were in terrific shape, comparable to a lot of private clubs' greens. The tee boxes were different. Some of them were pretty beat up. The fairways and rough were in alright condition. For the price we paid on a public course, I wasn't complaining. The course also has a lot of bunkers. Several of the bunkers had pipes sticking out of them, which isn't aesthetically pleasing, but at least they drain (unlike some other courses I've played on). Overall, I'd say the layout is challenging, but scorable for most skill levels. I'm not sure I'd recommend this course for a beginner or even too many recreational golfers due to several narrow fairways and hazards. The Legacy and Heritage nines surround a large pond. Those holes where water is in play (I think there's 6 of them) are especially beautiful. The clubhouse also has a scenic view of the water. The clubhouse has a bar/grill and a small pro shop. It's classed up, but still fairly basic. The employees I've encountered have been polite, friendly, and helpful. During our round, I think we saw a marshal once, maybe twice. There was no food and beverage cart service. In the end, I do recommend Heritage Golf Links. Just be cognizant of the crowds on the weekends. Other facts: Dr. J (Julius Erving) purchased this club in 2006 and renamed it Celebrity Golf Club. It foreclosed in 2010. In April that year, Affiniti Golf (now Mosaic Clubs & Resorts) took over and made changes, one of which was naming the club Heritage Golf Links. Yet another ownership group, Triumph Golf, took over in June 2015. I'm not sure if there were other ownership changes between Affiniti and Triumph, but regardless, there seems to have been a lot of turnover here over the years.

Very beautiful and challenging golf course! There are many practice areas (chipping, putting, and the main driving range) They have a full bar and cafe with outdoor seating overlooking the course

Heritage is a great place to go for all levels of golfers. There are a lot of tight fairways and a decent amount of hazards so if you're a beginner bring many balls. Minus having a dead cart here and there, I have a good experience. They have three sets of 9. Heritage, legacy, and tradition. I personally think Legacy is the most challenging of the three when playing from the tips. But tradition is my favorite. For the amount of golfers they have they take pretty good care of the course. Some bunkers and greens could use some love but for what you pay the course it worth it. Another plus is The employees at Heritage are always friendly. If you haven't played there I would definitely recommend to go soon. It a great find hidden in Tucker. And if you're looking for some practice, Heritage also has a very large driving range with multiple chipping and putting areas.

Was invited to an NFL alumni charity tournament. The golf course is a lot of fun. After playing out on the green we came back to barbecue pork, chicken and coleslaw. There was nothing green about lunch...kind of disappointed with that. My highlights here were the staff and the course it self.

This is one of my favorite courses to play in the Atlanta area but when they charged me and my buddy full price to play on this way over sanded course today and made no mention of it when getting a tee time just infuriated us. No discount offered. This was the worst ever. It was like playing on a beach! I've seen many courses offer discounts if you're going to expect to play a course under repair. Heritage, come on you're better than this!

$90 for this course, even if it's on a Saturday, is absolutely laughable. It's a good course, but $55 TOPS good.

Tough course to play. Hard to fine a flat spots on the fairways . Greens need improvement on some. Sand traps are not sand but red clays.

Oswald and Accelerazied golf is one of these exceptions. Right before I started coming here for lessons I played my local course to establish a benchmark and shot a 130. Shortly after I signed up for a 4 lesson package which includes 4 one-hour lessons and unlimited hitting on the practice range. After a couple of months and completing my first 4 lesson package, I played the same course and shot a 100. I know still pretty pathetic, but a huge improvement from my 130. While I'm sure if I dedicated the same amount of time without coaching my score would come down, but not 30 strokes in the span of a few months. The great/unique thing about coming here is that you can practice and watch video of yourself. Oswald draws out proper stance, swing lines, posture, etc. during your lessons and then you are able to go hit by yourself and watch what you are doing. I find this very helpful and one of the only ways I think I can actually change my swing. On top of the golf aspect, Oswald is a great coach/guy and never watches the clock during lessons. He seems to really care about his students and their progress. I could not recommend Oswald enough for lessons and can almost guarantee that your golf game will get better after going to him.

So if you're reading over this and thinking to yourself, "Boy, she doesn't know ANYTHING about real golf," you're right. I accidentally won a putting contest at work that secured me a corporate suite on the 15th hole for the Tour Championship, which apparently is an important event on the golf calendar. I bought some golf clothes on Amazon so they wouldn't kick me out and spent about five minutes looking over the roster (probably not the right word) before wandering down here to take it all in. My perspective is obviously skewed for multiple reasons, but a big one is that most of the attendees I encountered weren't in a suite (though there were quite a few of those temporary structures that I spied on my walk around the course). I think I basically knew this just from seeing coverage on Sportscenter in the past but I didn't realize how many people go to an event like this and just...follow specific golfers around. I just wrote up a review of Truist Park in which I complained about the lack of actual seating available and having to stand for long periods of time, and yet it seems like quite a few golf fans do that quite willingly. That must be very tiring. Anyway. For what it's worth, I thought the grounds were gorgeous. Very lush greenery, and the optics were greatly assisted by the weather - unseasonably cool for the ATL (probably 80ish) and partly sunny. I noticed toward the end of the day that some of the pathways on the grass were starting to get pretty muddy/worn down, but I imagine that's par for the course (pun not intended). The 15th hole where I spent the majority of my time had an interesting water feature; the green sort of juts out like a peninsula so if it's windy it's not unusual for the ball to fall into the water; since the weather was nice, we saw minimal drama at this hole, though Scottie Scheffler's repeat bid was probably officially thwarted right around here. I imagine a lot of places like this are only as good as their staff; everyone I interacted with at the Club was very professional and personable, from the employees overseeing the security area at the entrance (very easy process, which was probably aided by my decision a day earlier to remove the Swiss Army Knife from my keychain) to the myriad of people in and around the suite, who were always available for a quick chat and no judgment at my obvious lack of awareness. Top marks all the way around. I also have no idea how much work goes into this, but everyone involved in temporarily cordoning off pathways for the golfers to get from hole to hole without getting mauled by the fans? Impressive work. I can't imagine when I'll be back unless I miraculous win another random contest, but this was super cool. I'm more of a fan of the mainstream sports (baseball, football, etc.) - this was a nice change of pace.

I wrote my first review for East Lake Golf Club from my perspective as a spectator. I'm writing…read morethis second review (an update) from my experience as a player. I got to play this course recently and it was a real treat; truly a magical round of golf. Not to toot my own horn, but I've been fortunate enough to play some great courses like Pebble Beach, Kapalua, Doral, etc. To date, East Lake has been the only course to give me the same fantastical sensations that I experienced when I played the Old Course at St. Andrews (https://goo.gl/Fudnf6). There was something dream-like about our round. I think there are a few factors that contributed to why I felt this way: 1. Like St. Andrews, East Lake is a walking-only course with caddies. (This was a big part of it.) 2. East Lake is steeped in golf history. Of course, not as much as St. Andrews, but the club is quite historic. More on that below. 3. I've walked this course many times as a spectator, starting with my first Tour Championship in 2002. Since then, I've learned to appreciate the course and have wondered if I'd ever get the opportunity to play it. 4. This course is private and exclusive. You either have to know a member or be invited by a member to get on (or play in a special event or tournament hosted by East Lake). As I understand it, East Lake's members are primarily companies. I've heard there are individual members like Arthur Blank and Matt Ryan, but don't quote me on that. One of my coworkers used to be an individual member, but I believe individual memberships were done away with in the 90s when Atlanta real estate developer Tom Cousins purchased the club. I was able to get on thanks to one of my childhood friends who works for a company that has a corporate membership. East Lake is unlike most other private golf clubs and country clubs. All profits from the club go to the East Lake Foundation which was created to revitalize the immediate surrounding inner-city neighborhood. East Lake is the home course of Bobby Jones. He grew up playing here. The clubhouse is like a golf museum and a tribute to Jones. You can spend a lot of time just looking at all of the trophies, paintings, pictures, etc. It has everything from the 1963 Ryder Cup (which was held at East Lake) to the Calamity Jane, the "trophy" given to the winner of the Tour Championship (most recently, Tiger Woods in 2018). We got A+ service from the moment we pulled up to the gate. Our car was valeted and our clubs were taken down to the caddies near the practice area. We each got lockers for the day. I was assigned the Hideki Matsuyama/CSX Transportation locker. The locker room has ginger snaps, an East Lake tradition. The locker room attendant had our non-golf shoes laid out for us when we returned from our round. He also thoroughly cleaned our golf shoes. A bit of trivia: East Lake's beautiful and maze-like clubhouse was designed by Philip Shutze, a Georgia Tech grad who also designed the Swan House in Buckhead (which is where I'm getting married). We had a delicious breakfast in the grill room before heading out to warm up. We started with the practice putting green followed by the practice chipping/bunker area and then the driving range. The practice putting green is definitely one of the nicest practice putting greens I've practiced on. It was perfect and also scenically-located in between the clubhouse and the lake. The caddies sized us up at the range. I have to admit that was a bit intimidating, especially since our caddie was a former PGA Tour pro caddie. His name was Jeremy "Jerry" Rodger. I noticed his Scottish accent right away. He told me he was from St. Andrews. I told him when I played at St. Andrews, my caddie was American; now at East Lake, my caddie was Scottish. He then told me he knew an American caddie at St. Andrews by the name of Oliver "Ollie" Horovitz. Coincidentally, Ollie was my caddie at St. Andrews. That blew my mind. Jerry told me there are less than six degrees of separation in golf. I believe it. Our foursome was assigned two caddies. Each caddie carried two bags. If a caddie doesn't like your bag for whatever reason, they'll move your clubs, balls, etc. into an East Lake bag for the round. Jerry didn't like the way my bag sat on his shoulder so he swapped bags for me. Ransom was our other caddie. As for the course itself, it played just as I imagined. It was immaculate from tee to green. I loved walking on the soft, spongy zoysia fairways. The greens were hard and super fast. Jerry and Ransom knew how to read them like the back of their hands. Their green-reading skills were impeccable. I parred the two par-3s on the back nine, Nos. 11 and 15 (the island green); I'm very proud of that. I ended up in way more bunkers than I'm used to. Walking towards the 18th green, I could only think of the gallery swarming Tiger before his comeback win. I enjoyed every minute of my experience at East Lake and it's a round I'll remember for the rest of my life.
