Though our birth plan ended far unlike any way we planned it, I cannot imagine going through that process without the help of this phenomenal team. They have a knowledge, passion, and respect for empowering and healthy community birth that is unparalleled. It meant so much to have their advocacy by my side each step of the way during times I felt I was at my worst. Having Barbara at the hospital to help navigate and communicate my needs with the nurses was so valuable. She truly cares for each client and supports them through this process. We only have positive things to rave about this birth center and their staff. Would wholly recommend choosing them for your birthing needs. We hope we are fortunate to cross paths with this talented team once again!

I feel so honored to write another glowing review (first one is on Google), this time for my second…read morebirth at Geneva Woods Birth Center. I received attentive, professional, respectful care throughout my pregnancy and always appreciated the friendliness of the entire staff when I would come in for visits. My toddler daughter loved to come to appointments with me to play with the great toys, visit with everyone, and learn about things like blood pressure and heart beats. It really is a very family-friendly experience throughout. When I went past my due date, I really appreciated the explanation of the process for making sure everything is okay, and of course the patient, non-pushy approach to due dates. This all put me at ease about being overdue. Four days after my due date, I went into labor in the morning and had a weird pattern of contractions accelerating and then slowing down, depending on what I was doing. I really appreciated how the midwives carefully assessed, based on my pain and the pattern of my contractions, etc. whether there was a physical cause for this, such as baby in a funny position, and then helped me think through options. Ultimately, they suggested something that turned out to be just what I needed -- attempting to rest, changing the environment so as to get out of my head. They understand that the brain is the most important organ in birthing. I had a very quick active labor after that. They trusted me to know when I needed to push, and gave me choices but offered really helpful suggestions to make pushing more effective. I felt so at peace with their help, which was neither too hands off nor too pushy. Baby came out crying, big, and healthy and they took good care of me and him in the hours afterwards. We had come up with a plan during my pregnancy to prevent hemorrhage and it was a relief to have that all put in place right away. Because I was able to talk through my concerns during prenatal visits and have my questions answered, and because I was encouraged to access high-quality birth support services, such as my doula, Jen Allison (who teaches classes at Geneva Woods Birth Center), and because of the well-earned reputation for evidence-based, safe, and compassionate care, I was able to labor and birth without fear, trusting that I would get the care I needed. And I did. Even though the labor had gotten off to my difficult start, I felt so powerful at the end. I'm truly grateful for this kind of quality of care. I am especially grateful not only have a healthy baby but also very straightforward recovery with no tears or episiotomies or forceps or anything else -- this prevention of tears I credit to Barbara telling me to wait and let baby's head stretch my perineum when I just wanted to push him out, and to all of the other experiential wisdom they employed on how to reduce the risk of tearing. I really do wish this kind of care for every pregnant and versing person.

I have mixed feelings. First pregnancy and I decided to come here. The first doctor I saw was…read moreOmaira Colon. She doesn't do hospital births any more so I only saw her once and then they switched me. Her attitude was "I've done this a million times" and she went over everything quickly and in little detail. I get that it's YOUR millionth time but it's my first. They switched me to Maude Vance after that. She has little personal skills if any. She walks into your room already talking about baby names and whatnot without even a "Hi." She says all the information so fast and direct it just goes right over me and I can't remember anything when the appointment is over. She seems very knowledgeable but I get the vibe of I'm here to get paid and get out. She asked the same two questions every time and if you don't have one question she offers up no advice and she's on her way out the door. Cool, again it's my first time I don't know what I don't know! She suggested I get the RSV vaccine but I wasnt the correct month range at the rsvp season time. She said no need for a birth plan. Whenever she measures me I'm either too big or too small and then she schedules another ultrasound. Not saying how big or small I am and why it's necessary. Actually delivery time, did multiple interventions which I didn't want and she literally said "it's my job to cut the cord" when somebody asked if anyone wanted to do it. The reason why they are getting three stars is the scheduling. They give you one time to come in and you either say yes or no. The main front desk lady is kind of mean, the one with the flashy loud keyboard. I saw numerous new ladies who were always in training at the front desk across my 9 month visit. For people who don't have a job, it's fine come in whenever. I have to take time off of work to come in. They do open from 8-5 so I'm able to come at 8, but only days where Vance comes in early, otherwise she starts her day at 9am. Another inconvenience. I always have to fight with them, no I'm not going to come twice in one day because you can't get me an ultrasound and see the doctor back to back. Then the doctor thinks I need an ultrasound every other week and that tacks on a while another hour and scheduling mess to figure out. The NP and ultra sound techs have all been very nice and efficient. I usually don't have to wait too long in the lobby or in the exam room. Also they draw blood and do testing here too which is very convienent. I did have to go to a third party to get genetic testing done. Their check in process is a little bit long and tedious online. I've only had to pay my $90 co pay for when I have an ultrasound visit scheduled. Otherwise just a regular doctor checkup it doesn't ask me to pay the copay on the check in process. When I had my very first visit, they had us see the financial lady after we were done with the appointment. Since I had goven All the insurance info when I scheduled before she had all the estimated costs written out for vaginal and c section birth, as well as the ultrasounds. She then charged us $500 for the first ultrasound and said the next one that we would have would be around $700. A little while later as I was looking at my insurance online it said that my insurance had payed Denali OBGYN for the amount of the ultrasounds and that I needed to ask for a refund. They claimed that they charge everyone for the first one even though they already ran my insurance. So they provided me with a copy of my statements so far and that I have a $500 credit on my account. They said at the end they will refund me if I still have a balance with them. I haven't had to pay anything since then except my $90 copay. I had to ask them about this process and where that money went, they didn't provide any of that info voluntarily, like "hey just so you know you have a credit on your account since your insurance paid us as well as you payed." It might just be how they have to do things or how the insurance side works but it was kind of annoying. I would see Kilby if I had to come here again. I saw him twice while mine was on vacation and he was awesome. That's all I can think of for now but I wasn't thrilled with this place. Good luck if you are on a search.

My first appt here was with Sarah Schultz and her MA Crystal. I was touched by how gentle,…read morethoughtful, and informative they both were, especially because I was really nervous. Sarah did a really great job at talking through everything with me and making me feel like I was in charge. When I had to come back for a procedure, I was r/s with Dr. Omaira Colon. I had a completely different experience with her. I wasn't told they would be taking a biopsy or urine sample until I showed up, so I was totally unprepared for either (I would've taken painkillers in advance for the first). They handed me the consent form for the biopsy without even telling me what it was for, and I had to specifically ask to talk to Dr. Colon beforehand. When I was talking through the procedure with Dr. Colon, she seemed annoyed and unempathetic about my hesitations. She offered me aspirin for the pain and expected that to take care of everything (when I knew aspirin 5 minutes before a procedure wasn't going to help me). During the procedure, I had no idea what she was doing next at any point, and I was experiencing a lot of cramping and pain. I felt extra tense and scared because she kept moving forward in the procedure without telling me what she was doing, which probably made it a lot more painful that it needed to be because I couldn't relax. Throughout the procedure, I was wringing my hands in pain and she never once paused to ask if I was okay. If she ever verbalized what she was doing, it was never to ask for my permission and it was typically as she was already halfway into doing it. At the end of the procedure, as I was still in the middle of really painful cramping, she goes, "Wasn't as bad as you thought, right?" I guess she was right- it was worse. Overall, it felt like a completely violating experience. I already had a lot of anxiety over going to the ob-gyn (which I think is pretty common) and now that is going to be increased 10 fold.

I didn't see the negative reviews and I won't go there. No need. I'm more than impressed with this clinic and its staff. I'd give them a 20 out of 1-10 if I could!

My mother spoke so highly of her and swore if anyone could help me, it would be Sara. I walked into my first appointment feeling so overwhelmed and I left feeling like a complete idiot, only because I had not gone in to see her sooner. I felt silly for being so overwhelmed, not because she minimized my problems, but because she made me feel like I could finally start managing them. She's incredible. I've been through so many different health care providers, and she is one of a kind. She truly listens to you, she truly cares, and if you have any health concerns she's going to get to the bottom of it, almost as though she takes it on as a personal challenge and will not be defeated. She is your biggest champion and advocate. If she can't sleep, she goes down rabbit holes reading about how to solve problems for her patients. She does that shit in her free time, and it shows. She's absolutely brilliant, kind, and going to the doctor has never been more of a delight. I have now been a patient of hers for almost two years, and she has absolutely turned my life around for the better. Her husband and co owner is also wonderful, and together they make quite the dynamic duo. She's a busy woman with lots of patients, children of her own, etc., but if you need her, she will absolutely make the time for you, and that is a quality unfortunately uncommon in the healthcare industry. On a scale of 1-10, she's an 11.

They waited just past 3yrs for her to retire and patients to be unable to easily transition back to their previous provider to tell the patients that their plan of care would be changing vastly once she left the practice. I wish i could just say they don't care about their patients and if it was just that alone, I'd be resolute in the fact that it's better that we separated to go our separate ways. HOWEVER, that's not the only issue here, it apparently the office manager has taken it upon herself to breach hipaa laws and patient privacy because she's sharing with other pain management specialists her "unprofessional opinion" on specific patients and whether she feels they're a "problem patient or not" even when there's no documentation in file to suggest otherwise. So in the very near future a lawsuit is likely to follow, and from the similarities other patients have shared ... it might end up being a class action suit. It takes a lot of gaul and moral irresponsibility to speak on people who don't have an active ROI... Recently 3 of 5 pain management clinics have been refusing to serve this patient after having just stated they have openings and accept the insurance. They enquired about previous pain doctors and Alpenglow was only named, but no ROI or paperwork was completed to give a reason for them to come back ready to run in the opposite direction, unwilling to do procedures or medications. So far two have employees willing to admit that negative comments that were shared... so there's that... When you see this clinic, don't just walk in the opposite direction, RUN! Because when it's good, it's fine, but the moment there is a problem, it becomes nasty quick. And the unethical behaviors we've experienced are astounding, and seem to target patients who have an emotional response to bad news, ex. start crying, or try explaining through tears the situation they're facing in their plan of care, or whether they feel supported or not. The other targets are people who refused to take medications prescribed to them that had adverse physical effects. Before you know it, you're looking for a new provider and that's about the only thing i can appreciate is that the people who have terminated or been terminated are at least lucky to be out of there with a better chance for responsible care.
