During my recent visit my friend and I ended up here for dinner and I'm so glad we did! The food was amazing especially the scallops. The portions were really generous. The service was so friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend and look forward to dining here again.

There is an outdoor space that sits on the West Bow bend of Grassmarket, but nothing was set up for that when we were there for a late lunch. Perhaps it's a seasonal thing. All first impressions aside, it turned out to be a very good lunch. We were greeted immediately upon entering. We were fortunate to get a table without a reservation. You will definitely need one here during peak times. The service was warm & friendly. Artur was very helpful in answering all of our questions. The lunch menu is limited, but you can also order from the higher priced dinner menu as well. I was mostly amazed by the fact that you get complimentary oysters delivered to your table. My husband is not a seafood fan, so I was fortunate enough to enjoy both of them. These are large & tasty Pacific oysters grown at a farm in Loch Fyne. Delicious! It was such a great starter. I couldn't pass up the half kilo pot (lunch portion) of steamed mussels. These are Scottish rope-grown mussels. I should have ordered a kilo. They were so addicting. The white wine sauce with shallots was perfect. However, I did have a difficult time deciding which sauce to choose. The whisky with smoked bacon also sounded amazing. If I had to say anything negative, it would be to maybe add more bread to soak up the sauce. I probably could have asked for more, but I didn't. That's on me. I really wanted to return to try the Surf & Turf. We just didn't have enough time to do it all. I would go back in a heartbeat. It ended up being a great find. A great experience!

Very very reasonable dressed crab and fresh lobster. On a sunny day (yup you are in the East Neuk, so these days are not too rare) between Easter and September, come down to the harbour for some al fresco dining. It is a little bit of New England in Scotland! Here is how you tackle the lobster shack. 1. Make sure it is open - opening hours are variable, but usually open weekends from Easter, and in the height of the summer, they are open during the week for lunch. 2. Bring glassware/plastic cups and corkscrew if you are wanting juice/wine 3. Get some cash - they don't take cards 4. Go to the hut and pick your lobster, they are live and will be freshly boiled for you. 5. Whilst lobster is boiling, go to the co-op across the road and buy some wine, bread, salad or anything else you want to have with the lobster/crab - the lobster/crab is just served as is, no lemon or anything. 6. Come back and grab yourself a bench, get your delish lobster/crab which will be served on a glass plate with real cutlery. 7. Enjoy - guaranteed you will! But please, please, don't tell anyone else - this is a really special place, we don't want it too busy now!!

I'm so surprised to see hardly any reviews for Peters Seafood as I think it's a wee gem!! Having…read moreonly recently dipped my toes into the world of Seafood I tentatively booked dinner at Peters a few months ago for their Pre-Theatre menu. A set menu with 3 courses at £14.50, this is excellent value for the quality of food you get in a tiny restaurant. The place is family run, by Peter himself and his wife I'm sure. They really couldn't do enough for us when we visited. The starters on the menu on our visit (it changes) were the usual suspects in a Seafood restaurant, prawn cocktail, crab cakes, calamari etc. They also had Chicken Empanadas, which I tried, given that I'm new to fish I didn't want 2 courses!! The empanadas were crispy and flavoursome & came with a chilli dipping sauce. A perfect sized portion for a starter. Martyn went with the Prawn cocktail and, as you'd expect in a seafood restaurant, it was totally delicious with juicy prawns and a tangy Marie Rose sauce. I spoke with the waitress before ordering my main and explained that I was new to seafood and unsure about what fish to start with. She suggested the Seabass as it has a mild flavour and a meaty texture. I'm sooo glad I took her advice!! The fish was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and melting flesh, such a delicate flavour and not fishy whatsoever. It was served with wilted spinach and a lemon oil and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It really opened my eyes to the fact that fish doesn't necessarily have that fishy taste I expected it to have. We weren't going to bother with puddings, it was a beautiful sunny night and we both fancied a walk & an Ice cream along Troon beach. However when clearing our plates the Waitress uttered 2 completely delectable words.....'Homemade Profiteroles'. This well and truly sealed the pudding deal and 2 plates swiftly arrived at our table. They were incredibly light with crispy yet airy Choux pastry and filled with delicious vanilla cream. The chocolate on top was the kind that makes u want to lick your plate (and I almost did). Overall an excellent meal in a lovely atmosphere for a great price. I often recommend it to visitors of East Kilbride and I can't wait to go back!

Wines by the glass a bit basic. But they filled a hole I had. We had a wonderful salad that was comprised of lettuce, feta, capers, candied, peaches, walnuts it was fantastic We also had the scallop hors d'oeuvres and artistic blend of complementary ingredients Our soup was sweet potato, I think It had pumpkin seeds and a slight drizzle of something with a slight kick that wasn't too much and complemented the delicate flavor of sweet potato We also tried a white fish, Sol That had a curry sauce I can't say I was a fan of the meal because in my opinion, I was hoping the curry would be so mild It wouldn't hide the fish but in this case it did. it could've been curried tofu and I probably wouldn't have noticed that it wasn't fish. It was still put together quite well heavy gracious, not a thing for me The dessert we had was Panna cotta with some frozen cranberry squares and dollop of boysenberry? It was fine dining for sure We experienced the special treat that only occurs rarely. Every single employee on the floor assured us. When not busy. They all checked every table, not just " their own" Magnificent service.
