Bottom line: The Publix location in OIB is a clean, nice, well stocked, good sized, and organized…read moregrocery store. Of note is a pretty large wine selection for a grocery store. Competitively priced for the area and no service speedbumps experienced yet here. The Deets: This Publix is the one of the newest grocery stores in the Ocean Isle Beach area, and the one nearest to the island at this time. It's a very nice and clean store, as most Publix locations usually are, and spacious with plenty to offer. The layout is conducive to finding things you need in a fairly reasonable amount of time and not confusing to me. They offer the usual stations such as bakery, deli, etc. but they do not offer a seafood market (not that it is necessary as there are some around OIB). Their wine section is pretty extensive for a grocery store (see pic). I found the grocery prices to be comparatively more reasonable here for the most part, definitely something to be noted. I have not witnessed or experienced any service hiccups along any trips here. This Publix is a welcomed addition the OIB vicinity, and glad it offers some competition for the grocery business in the area.

The checkout lady was competent. She even thanked me for bringing my recycling bags, asked me how my visit was and invited me to come back to the store. The bagger was pleasant. He happily bagged my items and as I exited, I believe it was a manager, smiled and bade me farewell. Two thumbs up. This is a model class in grocery store customer service. I will be back.

One of my rare 5-Stars and justifiably so, I'd say…read more This little island store is owned and operated by some of the nicest folks one could ever hope to meet. It's kind of a country store operation, with seafood and wine. The wine selection is way out beyond anything you'd expect from a "convenience store," and they have all the mixers and whatnot you'd ever need and there's an ABC store (liquor store, as we call them here in NC), right next door. This place is like an island vacationer's "kid in a candy store" experience, with everything from fresh-caught local seafood (bought the grouper, it was fantastically fresh), to fishing tackle, wines, groceries in surprisingly plentiful and varied abundance, beach stuff, shirts and hats, down to marine supplies like fishing/depth charts, tide charts, you name it. They also have every sort of fish bait one could want. The star of this show is the family who runs it, the Sheffields. Outstanding customer service and recognition and they easily earned all five of my stars. Gas up, load up, get your feed bag on, all in one spot: Sheffield's. TIP: This place can be reached by either car or boat since it's on one of the channels off the Intracoastal Waterway, and sits on the same spit of land that contains the public boat launch. Totally convenient.

On my many trips into Ocean Isle Beach, I have made Sheffield's a stop on many occasions. It is the…read morequick or emergency "go-to" place (convenience/gas) on the island, just at the end of the Odell Williamson Bridge as you come in from the mainland over the Intercostal Waterway. If you are looking to make big grocery store trips to get a big bunch of food or supplies for the week, you probably are going to head to the Lowes Foods right back over the bridge or the Food Lions near Sunset Beach or Shallotte. But for quick things, a few food items or convenience store things, beer, etc. then Sheffield's fits the bill. A huge walk in beer cooler, always nice especially when it is so hot outside! There is a small seafood shop in the back as well. Quick ice stop here is probably the main reason we see it so much. Very nice people working, great location, and handy items make Sheffield's one place you will probably visit many times if you make it out to OIB anytime for a vacation.
