I bought it and scheduled an appt for Brazilian and underarms on her website. Heard back from her within 24 hours. I went in the next day. I was so nervous. Will it be like last time? Afiya immediately put me at ease. She was so personable and made me feel comfortable. Her room is decorated nicely, good music playing, good temperature. I wasn't even nervous about the whole naked part. Just the impending pain. Afiya took the time to explain sugaring to me and the process. As for the sugaring, she was efficient, thorough, and caring. Of course it was painful. It is hair being ripped out. But it was so much less painful than my previous experience. I'd say a 4 out of 10. I know my next time will be even easier. She also did my underarms. Again, efficient and thorough. She even used a bright light at the end to make sure she gets the stubborn hairs. You get a punch card. 5 services and the 6th one is free. This last time I had allowed them to grow out for about 3 months to get them to fill out. Angela went over her process & made sure to let me know the wax she was using had a honey base so it was going to be less damaging to my skin. She talked during the proceedure to let me know what she was doing so I wouldn't be startled. It was quick & relatively pain free considering my previous experiences. The places I visited prior were usually wham/bam & I always had break outs around the brow area. I am happy to say after my visit with Angela I had not break outs at all! Woohoo! I let it go, cause I've seen her work and it's good. I arrived a couple minutes early, since punctuality seemed to be her ticking point. Lo and behold, she was about 8 minutes late. I don't care, again. Not bothered. I coughed, into the corner of my elbow as I was getting up from the couch. After she said hi, she immediately blurred out "are you sick" with a furrow in her brow. I told her no, that I choked on the iced coffee I was sipping on from the E-bar. She definitely didn't look like she believed me, but I didn't really care. I love her bed set up, even for eyebrows. It's half bed, half lounger. It's awesome. She was quick, diligent, and efficient. Convo was minimal. She did ask who referred me to her. But other than that, I don't think we spoke much. At completion, she sat me up and then I walked to the large mirror to see her work. It was great. She reminded me, even though I was grabbing it, to take my coffee. She is very particular. Very. The pricing is average with Sacramento, $20 for eyebrow waxing. She works Tuesday through Saturday. But don't worry, they recently hired a part time employee to cover Sundays and Mondays at the salon. This is a great back up to my regular girl. The Spa is just one little tiny room located on the third floor of Nordstrom at Arden Fair directly across from the women's lounge. Blink and you'll miss it. Her facials are truly amazing as she's been at this location since this Nordstrom opened almost 20 years ago. Since she's a one person shop sometimes it's a little bit of a challenge getting an appointment. If you found out today that you just got invited to a big event tomorrow and you needed that extra little sparkle.....well, that might be tough. But she does get cancellations and is always happy to squeeze you in when she can. Her facials last about an hour give or take and include a short back massage, hand massage and foot moisturizing treatment. The cost is $95. Parking is a breeze with the attached parking garage. I've had a few facials in my day but Gabriela's are the best. I actually had someone comment after one of her treatments that my skin was glowing. Can't get better than that!
