It's a pretty big grocery store for the inner city IMHO, and has a lot to offer by way of organic food and other household items. The only downside is, like Whole Foods, it's a bit pricey. (Because we're in Vienna, it's even pricier than Whole Foods, though.) Nevertheless, it's a very nice store and the only place I've been able to find whole wheat semmels (a circular bread roll that is usually equivalent to french bread), and cinnamon rolls without raisins! Unlike "the little crunchy store next door" (to my flat), this place also sells meat and has a full deli.

Their wide supply in teas, cereals, vegetarian/vegan or Asian products will simply ravish you! And because health and beauty comes from the inside as well as the outside, they also have cosmetics and make-up products - even for babies' care... Okay, the prices aren't particularly cheap... but when it comes to health, it's worth the investisment, isn't it? You can also create your own muesli mix online and have it shipped to you or pick it up in the store. The service is very welcoming and friendly. It is wonderful for kids, too! The salesperson actually encouraged me to return with my children so they can taste their way through some mueslis and pick their favorite. This inviting store is a great way to inspire kids to get into muesli! I have every intention of returning with my children. As it was, I was there today on my own. At 5pm it was very busy, but the saleslady still found time to give me personal service. I was looking for a muesli that was similar to my kids' favorite brand but healthier. No sooner had I said this than the person helping me was on the internet googling the ingredients of my kids' favorite brand for me! She then made a suggestion based on this information and offered to let me taste it. I had the choice of sampling it with milk, soy milk or yogurt. It was delicious and had half the sugar of my kids' favorite brand as well as many more varieties of whole grains. I highly recommend a stop here. Even if you're not a muesli fan yet, you might walk out as one after tasting your way through a few of these delectable concoctions!

Luckily, I walked pass the shop on the day where they where offering free try-outs, so I used this wonderful opportunity to try the low-carb Müslis that I was longing to try for a long time. The low-carb (Paleo) versions were "Paleo Apple Crunchy" (14,90 EUR for 500 g) with 31 g of carbs and the "Paleo Coconut Nut Crunchy" (12,90 EUR for 500g) with only 16 g of carbs! Instead of oats or cornflakes, Paleo Müslis consists mainly of chopped mixed nuts (Hazel-, Cashew-, Brazil-, Pecan nuts, almonds, and mixed seeds) and dried fruits. I also tried the "40% Protein Müsli", which the basis are soy flakes and almonds. This Müsli has only 15 (!) g of carbs. The three kinds that I mentioned above contain no sugar which is great for the low carb diet! The staff were super friendly and gave me these three types to try, mixed with pure yogurt. They all tasted absolutely WOUNDERFUL!!! I fell in love right away with these Müslis. I bought 2 boxes of "Paleo Coconut Nut Crunchy" and 1 box of the "40% Protein Müsli". The "Paleo Apple Crunchy" tasted great but silly me still thinks that 31g of carbs per 100g are too much ^^'! They also have an Online shop where you can create your own Müsli by using the "Müsli Mixer" and choosing your own basis, fruits, etc... as you wish! Great idea from the company!! All their ingredients are organic, which is wonderful as well. MyMüsli has became my favorite low carb snack. I always eat it with Greek yogurt for extra protein. Heavenly ....!!!

I was really hungry so for start I had a green smoothie-simply, but delicious. For second meal I've chosen raw Spaggetti. That was awesome. I know this type of food so for me nothing new, but all flavours was very good. Unfortunately in Bistro is no wifi and only accetable method is by cash. They have many breakfast opportunitis. Salty and also sweet. Breakfast's are served on morning and then you can choose from many others lovely food :) All deserts were looking good so next time I have to try one or two of them! This Bistro is also shop with fresh vegetable, fruit, superfoods, plant based milk&yogurt. I bought there home made cashew mozzarela. Nice place for café, breakfast, meal or just chillin. I live next door to this shop, lovingly referred to in our household as "the little crunchy store…read morenext door," which also has a great lunch buffet. I've eaten there only a handful of times, but it was pretty good each time. I frequently buy produce there, or a liter of milk, et cetera. It's a bit pricier than other local stores for groceries, but since everything is definitely locally-grown, etc (and it's super convenient, for me), the price is okay. I'd say I do about 15-20% of my grocery shopping here. As for the lunch buffet, my fiancé and I are always meaning to eat there more often (one day he bought me a *vegan* "kebab" (as they're known in Vienna) to go.) As a hardcore meat-eater, even he liked it.

We had pasta al forno (ok), rice-chickpeas-vegetables soup (pretty good), a falafel plate (loads of cous cous and not enough falafel and vegetables) and a vegan pastry (pretty bad). It was fairly expensive, but not as much as the shop they run in the front. So here is my review... a mediocre "OK". You won't regret setting foot in the establishment, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there either.

Note - this market is not just vegetarian or health food - it is totally vegan. I thought the selection of products was awesome and the prices extremely good for the customarily much more expensive vegan designation. The whole place was bright and attractively laid out. I would recommend them putting a blank table next to the cash register to pack your goods after you pay for them. I had to use the one with all the information and brochures on it and if someone were searching through the info, I wouldn't have been able to do so. An added bonus to Maran Vegan Supermarket is that an Indian/Pakistani market is right up the street and a Denn's Biomarkt is less than a ten minute walk away on the Kaiserstrasse. You can do all your healthy shopping in one easy trip! And check this out - almost directly next door to Maran Vegan Market are the legendary Tag/Nachtasyl bars where after you food shop you can drink beer or whiskey and inhale lots of smoke and do anything on the unhealthy side that you want because you know that you have all that good healthy food from Maran Vegan packed away in your rucksack. They have vegan ice cream!!!!…read more Okay, they have plenty of other awesome products, from cereals, teas, soy & oat milks, fresh vegan products replacing meat, cheese, yogurts,... But also lots of beverages, dry beans, fresh fruits and veggies... It's a bit pricey but you pay for your health and the quality of products I guess! They also have a bakery with breads and cakes, as well as some cooked meals to take away or enjoy in their eating corner.

BUT that's a bigger problem than just Denn's. Great grocery store for all your Bio needs.
