Our family has used this funeral home for decades. In the past service was great and the owner was…read moreflexible with payment options. Not any more, not only has the prices increased 75% in about 7 years, but payment has to be made up front. If you don't have the full amount up front, absolutely nothing will be done. The cheapest casket they have is almost $2000 and it looks like an elaborate zip-lock container that has been spray-painted. The owner/director of the place has got to be the coldest, most inflexible woman in the world. When we asked about making payments she almost yelled " NO". After that she seemed irritated that we were there bothering her. In the end we got basically nothing for way to much money. This place has gone from a wonderful caring place for the grieving to a cold building that's only goal is to separate vulnerable people from their money. I hope this place closes so no more people will be ripped off.

I did not receive a call back. I then emailed Mr. Chapman my concerns as well as other partners with no response. I am writing this on 1/14/2026 and emailed the company on 12/10/2025 allowing plenty of time to resolve but unfortunately no response was given. I will add my email as the review as it covered the entire experience no one should go through while burying a loved one. Dear Mr. Chapman, I am writing to formally document the unacceptable experience my family and I had with your staff during the arrangements and service for my grandmother's funeral. This message is sent with the expectation that these issues will be taken seriously and addressed. The day after my grandmother's passing, I was contacted by an individual named Cheryl. I was out of state at the time and attempting to manage arrangements while also coordinating paperwork to make the process easier for my elderly uncle. I was not clearly informed that there was a distinction between your funeral home and Affordable Cremations, which caused confusion and miscommunication from the beginning. Once they arrived at the appointment he ended up spending over an hour in the office to pick out 3 items for service and pay. Communication throughout the planning process was poor. Questions were repeatedly met with "I'll have to ask someone," and I was given unclear or inconsistent answers. There was no clear explanation of what your team was responsible for, what my family was responsible for, or what to expect on the day of the service. I did not feel supported, and I did not feel confident in the process. After the call to sign contracts, the lack of clarity and professionalism was so concerning that I made the difficult decision to leave town earlier than planned because I no longer trusted that the arrangements were being handled appropriately. The service itself was handled in a manner that was disruptive and deeply disrespectful. We arrived at the cemetery chapel during a snowstorm. Your staff set up, including the guest book, without providing any explanation of where it was located or how it would be managed. I had to rely on the pastor for guidance on the service process rather than staff. During the service, while the last song was still playing and before the pastor had concluded, your staff attempted to dismiss attendees. The pastor had to intervene to prevent the disruption. One staff member stood in front of my grandmother's casket while our family was trying to observe a moment of silence, which was completely inappropriate and upsetting. After the service, my visibly distraught father was told to leave the building despite severe weather conditions. There was no reasonable justification for forcing grieving family members outside during a snowstorm. We were effectively rushed out of the building. The guest book was being packed away before guests had finished signing, and I had to physically step in to stop this so that people could sign and pay their respects. Because of this, family members we had not seen in years were denied the opportunity to speak, grieve together, or say proper goodbyes. This experience fell far below any reasonable standard of professionalism, compassion, or dignity. A funeral is not a routine appointment it is one of the most vulnerable moments in a family's life and your staff members conduct added unnecessary pain and stress to an already devastating time. I expect this complaint to be reviewed seriously, and I would appreciate a response regarding what steps your organization will take to address these issues and prevent this from happening to other families. I first did a review in Feb 2023 when my mom passed. This time I am writing a review after my…read morefather died. I have had 2 very different experiences with Ferrell chambers funeral home. Both of them incredible. I first met Tyler, and lance when my mom died. Back then they had no ideal who I was​. When i called this time around, they knew excatly who i was. That in itself was amazing. I wouldnt consider myself as memorable to most but to some. It was so nice and comfortable to feel like i was talking to family i hadnt seen in years. I dealt with lance first and explain my dad was on comfort care and to be expecting a call from the hospital. He was on it and even remmebered my dad was a vet. Saying he had most of the info he would need from my moms passing. Just bring the dd214 when we come in to meet. That he be there when we needed him. I went into the hospital with the knowledge my dad would be in great hands. After my father passed i called the funeral home and got the answering service who transferred me to tyler. I was very emotionally distraught over my father going to the morgue. It wasnt a place i wanted my dad to be. So i called tyler and asked him if he could please be ready to recieve my dad as he had passed. He was very accommodating to what my need where. I also asked if he could please call me and let me know when he was picked up. This is the part that is so great. I recieve a call within 30 mins of leaving the hospital for them to arrange my father for transfer. (They had to clean him up and remove all the ivs and such). Tyler called me to tell me that he had him and my dad only went thur the morgue. He never stayed in it. Now i know that doesnt happen for everyone and im sorry for that. But if tyler and lance can make it happen they will. They go the extra mile to make the family feel as though they are family. When my sister and i went in the next day everything was waiting for us and we only needed a couple things done before it was all said and done. The cremation was done as quickly as could be since you need a death permit. They played my dads favorite songs while he was being cremated. My father was never alone. That brought me comfort. And if you are ever worried about bring kids to the funeral home dont be. I took my 5 yr old with me to pick up my dad ashes and they made it a happy experience for her. She wasnt creeped out or uncomfortable at all. So she got to be a part of it too since we didnt have a service. We are currently still waiting on the death certificate and some other things but they call and check in once a week. That so nice. I dont have to hound them for information. I know that they will get to me as quick as they can. So if you are looking for a real family friendly funeral home this is the place. Lance and tyler will take care of you. This i promise 100%. Joe & his staff went above & beyond to special order the stone that I wanted. Joe explained everything perfectly, even drove down to Ironton to make sure that the stone was good for the spot! And did I mention that I was doing everything from across the country? Joe & his company are trustworthy & do an excellent job, I can't recommend them enough!!!

The experience was stressful and painful. Chris in particular was an extremely CALMING influence during this time. The service was short, 5-7pm, but effective. Everything they did for us was above and beyond, but Chris was a master at remaining calm and helping us through differences of opinion on how to go about Celebrating my brothers life. While we were on vacation we got an alert on our camera that a tree fell onto our screened in porch…read moreand damaged part of the house where it was connected. We had a great experience with Tim in the past with another tree removal so we called him right away and after sending him some pictures, he immediately went over to the house and looked at the damage. He was able to give us an idea of the cost, took pictures for the insurance company and FaceTimed us since we were out of state. Tim and his team were able to get a huge tree removed off of our house, cut up and disposed of in two days. He sent us videos and pictures throughout the whole process and gave us a heads up on what was going on with the damage. He also was able to put a huge tarp on the part of the house that was exposed to the elements. We highly recommend Tim and Arbor Max tree service. Tim was professional, honest and went above and beyond to keep himself and his team safe while also taking care of not to cause anymore damage to our home.
