I adopted my puppy a few weeks ago from the Humane Society. The staff was friendly, and the adoption was painless. We got to meet the puppy and play with him in a room before we decided if he was the one for us. They had us pick our puppy up at the vet after he was checked out. That is when we found out he had coccidia and worms. (I guess that is to be expected when all the pets share the same place). It stunk that we got stuck with paying for all the meds before we even got to take him home.
Also, they gave us a little gift bag with coupons, treats, and a bag of dog food. The bad part about the food, it was for an older dog (not a puppy) and it was expired.
The Humane Society is a great place to get pets, but just be prepared your pet may come with little issues like these. read more
