The schools in Lexington are not nearly as good as they are currently perceived. There is an…read moreenergetic, dynamic Superintendant who has done a masterful job with public relations and optics. As a result, the schools are not considered an issue right now (no mention that I heard in the mayoral race). But the schools are pretty mediocre (some schools are great, as good as any private school education while others are very troubled) and the "main office" is TERRIBLE. It's as bad as any bureaucracy I could name.

The gym…read moreteacher and orchestra teacher (assuming they are still employed here) were amazing and the only redeeming qualities. Math teacher Mrs. Britney Richardson traumatized me so hard I remember her 5 years after, we got into a very serious verbal argument one morning where she yelled at me in front of all my peers, dismissing every explanation I had and putting me down at any chance. My breaking point (where I chose to sit in silence for the rest of the school year) was when she said with full confidence that I was "playing with needles, showing them off to other kids.", completely smearing and humiliating me. It was 7th grade, I had just been diagnosed a Type 1 diabetic and was showing a few of my closest friends how to properly use life saving emergency medication, as instructed by my doctor (glad I did because she clearly knew nothing of my diagnosis, if I passed out in her class I probably would've died there.). I was horrifically stunned and upset, and when she saw my gapping mouth she got a real cocky, mean smirk on her face, like she had outwitted a 13 year old. She should've been fired or reprimanded but no. It is still extremely upsetting, even as an adult with a diploma. Worst teacher I've ever had in 6 different schools. Wouldn't send my kid there if it was the last option.

Lexington Christian Academy drew me away from God. I came to the school in search for a Christian…read morecommunity that would help me grow in my faith, but in fact, it drew me far away from it. I was surrounded by people calling themselves Christians - while at the exact same time, I saw them tear down the very ones made in His image. An example of this being my entire class and upperclassmen (with the exception of few), making fun of one girl who struggled with a disability. They made an Instagram "fan page" of her - her profile picture being black snakes coming out of her eyes. I was once told by a staff member that, on another occasion, an entire grade dressed up as one student in order to make fun of her. But, because the staff "could not prove the bullying," they did nothing to stop it. However, I would be lying if I did not say there are some genuinely kind teachers at the school that truly love their students. But, that will most likely not be the takeaway in your child's experience at LCA. In the classroom, things from the Bible are skewed in their teaching. For example, it's taught that if you're anxious, you're not a true Christian. It's taught that if you pray for doctors and nurses, rather than solely God's miracles, you're not truly believing in the power of God. Teachings like these saturate the classroom. There is extremely little diversity, though their deceptive marketing will put a minority poster child on the front page of their website. What I experienced at LCA was truly traumatic to me. If you are considering sending your child there, and they are at all doubting their faith in whatever way, please prayerfully re-consider. I write this review out of deep disturbance and concern for your child's faith.

Yes, I went to UK because that was one college that I had applied to that actually had a football program! But unlike UK, this high school actually chose a mascot that makes sense. I have yet to see a cat of the "wild" species. Apparently, the students had taken a vote on Broncos, which is fitting! So it goes to write that I found out that this school, which opened in 2017, had started enrolling and by the end of the season, their football team was ranked 25th in the state! Can you believe that?! It is the highest ranked public school football team in Lexington! So for that achievement, I have a team to follow (not as closely as college football mind you); however, it is still something. Also, I have to write that their website was easy to follow, when I had scrutinized the scheduling and the tour was amazing, very beautiful surroundings and lay out! Apparently, their first game is a scrimmage tomorrow and they actually play more local high schools than last year, one will get to see them actually test themselves as the best public school in Lexington! Who knew that a high school could throw a football team together and have the team go onto being one of the top ranked schools, in football, their first year? AMAZING! To put it in perspective, rankings in 2017: Frederick Douglass #25 Tates Creek #29 Henry Clay ranked #33 Lafayette #57 Bryan Station #110 Paul Laurence Dunbar #159

There are some great extracurricular activities that allow students to explore their interests outside the classroom. However, the school could improve in communication with parents and the community. Sometimes, important updates or events are not well communicated, leading to confusion. Additionally, while the facilities are adequate, some areas could use renovations to create a more conducive learning environment.
