Great local place where organic matters. Prices are low, parking is abundant and pre-picked offerings are well sorted.

The staff greeted us with warm smiles and helpful tips, making the experience feel welcoming from the start. Their marketplace has a wide selection of apple varieties, most of them are ready for sampling. While wandering the rows, we stumbled upon a few new favorites--crisp, sweet, and just the right amount of tart. If you're looking for a family‑friendly outing with fresh fruit, friendly faces, and plenty of tasty discoveries, Chiles Peach Orchard is a must‑visit. Notes: This maybe not in their control - lantern flies were everywhere, they don't bite, but they are invasive bugs, be careful not to get hitchhikers. Also, they sometimes add an admission fee on specific picking days, so check their website beforehand to avoid surprises.

It had some peach flavor, but honestly, nothing out of the ordinary. I was told the peach donuts were just all right, not as standout as others (apple cider donuts). What did stand out was the peach Bellini, which was really good, especially because it was such a hot day. We wanted to check out the peach orchard, but unfortunately, they had sold out for the day, so we weren't allowed to go. It was probably around two or three in the afternoon, so we were surprised they had shut down so early. We did enjoy the views and live music, which was really cool. Definitely check out their weekly events!

I had just driven by the farm with their giant "pick your own strawberries" sign, and decided to do this in between wine/beer tastings along Nelson 151. *Pick your own strawberries for $3.49 a pound. Apparently you can bring your own container for picking, but they do provide white buckets. *I picked strawberries from Patch #1 which faces the road, but there's more patches in the back, which I wish I'd checked out, because I suspect a lot of people go to Patch #1. So I'd encourage you to be aware of Patches #2-6. *There are portapotties and an outdoor sink set up with soap and paper towels. *They have a small market with some McCutcheon products, strawberries for sale, asparagus, and ice cream in pints. I had a cup of their delicious strawberry ice cream afterward. There are picnic tables scattered under tents where you can enjoy your ice cream (much appreciated shade after strawberry picking under the hot sun).

One that I want to highlight and isn't on Yelp by itself unfortunately is Sweet Jane's Kitchen Maryland Style Crab Cakes. They don't have a brick and mortar but she is always there every Saturday the Market is open from 9am-1pm. Since moving from FL I have never had a single good crab cake in all of VA...UNTIL I tried Jane's crab cakes. They are all of what a good crab cake has to offer: A large thick patty mostly consisting of super fresh crab and garnished with delicious spices and only small amount of filler. Their homemade sauce is perfectly zesty and pairs well with the crab cake and bun; I always get extra. To top it off the owner is always very kind and runs it with her family. Other than this one there is a flower shop that carries my favorite celosia flowers and my favorite caromont farm goat cheese. They have a wonderful variety of other unique shops and delicious food vendors to try. I highly recommend Jane's crabcakes and the Charlottesville City Market in general, so much that I am willing to travel almost 2 hours to get there. Honestly the best green market I've been to in VA.

We found that this farm fit the bill, with different pick-your-own options depending on season. Apple season had just started, so we headed on over. We first went into the small shop, where we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful young man. He explained how to determine which fruit was ready for picking, and sent us off with our bags to fill. The rows are well-marked, and I was thrilled to see that my favorite apple -- honey crisps -- were ripe and ready for picking. The farm has a large variety of apples -- golden delicious, gala, sweet surprise, ambrosia, etc. -- though not all were yet ripe. The trees were producing a lot of fruit, all of which was easy to reach, so our bags were filled in no time. We returned to the market, where we purchased quite a lot of additional fruits (peaches) and vegetables (okra, giant Marconi peppers, sweet banana peppers, green onions, and eggplant). They also sell other farm-fresh produce and eggs. There are also handmade wooden ornaments for sale. We didn't taste our haul until returning home -- both the peaches and apples taste amazing. Crisp and sweet. Fresh off the tree DOES make a difference! We haven't tasted the vegetables yet. -5-stars for food quality. -5 stars for staff. The gentleman in the store was very engaging, patiently answering a ton of our questions about the farm and its products. -5 stars for value. The prices are competitive with local grocery stores, but you're getting fresher products. -1 star for location. LOL. The farm is two hours away from our home! I wish it were closer to us. We would definitely be regulars there if it were! Seriously though, the location is easy to find, and convenient from Harrisonburg or Massanutten.

It's a family-owned farm run by super nice people, and it's a great place to visit when you're in the Lexington area. You can explore more than a thousand lavender plants of 20 different varieties here. I visited during the off season, when the lavender bushes were spent and dormant, but there were a few sprigs here and there, and even so, the rest of the garden was lush and beautiful. If you want to experience the lavender fields in full bloom, you'll want to visit in late spring through summer. Around the end of May to the end of June is when they do U-pick lavender, where you can pick your own lavender bouquets. The owners also produce and sell lavender products, dried and fresh wreaths, lavender food (including lavender ice cream!). Friendly farm animals also live on the farm, and you might be able to meet and greet them. These are the most content and happy animals I've encountered maybe ever. Could it be because they live on a lavender farm and they're absorbing the calming vibes of this medicinal plant? Most likely it's because the owners are super awesome and treat the animals like family. It's great to see. The farm is open May to December.
