Problem is the WiFi is not reliable. the best place to access their WiFi is downstairs (away from the nice view and the quiet study area). And sometimes, it doesn't work so well down there either. Also, you can't get a library card if you live out of town. Maybe that's a standard for libraries, I can't say. But you can't access their computers without a library card. In short, it's a very nice library to get some quiet time to read and get work done. But you're going to need to use your own hotspot access if you want to read books on your Kindle or IPad. I sincerely hope they fix this and join everyone in the 21st century. Until then, the New York Sports Club in the same shopping center has WiFi... but it's not quiet there in the least. :-/

Nice staff that truly cares about the youth and books that are classic and modern. This library has something I have never seen before. An entire separate wing for 0 to 10 or 11 years olds. I am impressed. When I walked in there they have two to three staff working in diffrent areas with the young children. Walk over through sliding glass door and then walk into a separate larger two floor wing. Here you find the friendliest security guard named Jerry. He sits in front of the teen's computer youth area. Then walk over to the adult area fitted with computers for the public to use (with a valid library card). Youth coordinator is fantastic. He is energetic and bringing great programs for the teens. Librarians are very sweet and always ready to help. I am very happy to call this our new home away from home.

With the high ceilings and big windows it creates a really relaxing vibe. Lots of computers if you need one and heaps of magazines to browse. Upstairs they also have rooms you can reserve for group study or work and downstairs a little cafe. I thin they could improve on that area, offering some more variety, maybe some small sandwiches. It has a plethora of resources on all subjects and lots of media. The library also has an ample selection of Spanish books and ESL resources. It is smaller than the main branch but it is cozy and feels like home. I know that this library played a vital role in helping me achieve my dreams and achieve academic success. Being in my 20's, I don't have that many regrets. When it does come to regrets, not taking…read moreadvantage of what this library has to offer as a pupil takes the top. If I wasn't such a silly and narrow-minded kid back then, I could've been in much better circumstances as I type this. That would've been thanks to this library. For the most part, the books here are in good shape (especially the ones published before you and I were born) and movies (from blue ray to classic black and white films). Also important, there are other informative/ helpful resources (i.e. NYT/ WSJ newspapers, tax forms, and online databases/ indexes) that are all up for grabs. Having said all of that, you WILL learn something that is not taught in college (possibly top-tier ones). Trust me... I graduated from a NYC college a few months ago and I have learned more in a few weeks coming here than I did a full semester of school. You can't go wrong if you stay here for an hour just looking around doing absolute nothing (I walked around the entire place several times to get a good feel for it one day). You will be inspired by the vast amounts of book shelves here and by the interior design of the library. You don't have to be a avid reader to enjoy what this historic place has in store. I loved their summer reading program as I was always an avid reader. My dad had his photography featured in the gallery a few years back. They have a massive selection of books and it's a stunning spot. The history of this library is amazing too. I am always happy when I can go back and visit and buy a book or two!

The…read moreadorable brick building aside, it is everything I think of when imagining the perfect library: historic, well-preserved interior, complete with (nonfunctional) fireplace; large guilded paintings of the founders, dressed in fine 19th century garb; neatly stacked shelves; graceful tables for sitting and reading; and a friendly staff. The library is small - the literature/fiction section is in front, while most of the historical and non-fiction texts are located in the larger room, which has a stage for presentations. There is also a children's section downstairs, and the library has two computers for browsing the card catalog. I've been able to find books I've wanted here, but just as often end up requesting items through Butterfield's interlibrary loan system (remember, it's a small place). But I don't care where the books come from, really - I just love climbing the front steps, opening the door and entering Library Land. Not chaotic, we-must-queue-up-New-York-Public-Library-land, but Old Fashioned Library Land, where you can gather your books together and linger, because lingering is necessary and encouraged.
