Horrible communications between the construction super and the Richmond agent. Moved my closing…read moredate twice, so ultimately had to move my family of 6 to a hotel, even after putting down 5% in order to avoid moving twice. Communication is key in any and every transaction, and here it was completely awful. Nightmare experience, but most likely not unlike any other home builder. I do have to say I lived in an 11-year old Richmond Home and it was very well built and have had no complaints. I used my own lender because I right-off-the-bat had no confidence in the Richmond lender - they are amateurs and don't know what they are doing. Avoid using them as a lender if you can.

If you're thinking of building in Richmond's new 'Anthology West' location in Parker, don't. We…read morejust bought our first home here, and we couldn't be more disappointed. They will reel you in with their great "incentives", but will only give you these "incentives" if you use them as a lender. We were worried about this right away, but were assured by Richmond that their rates would be very "competitive" for our mortgage by our loan officer. Turns out, their rates are AT LEAST .25% higher than what the market is currently at, so be prepared for that. DO NOT FALL FOR IT, USE YOUR OWN LENDER IF YOU MOVE INTO A RICHMOND HOME! When we made a fuss about it, they told us they use the word "competitive" loosely... I'LL SAY!! We had to buy our rate down to get .125% higher than what the current market rate was at that time. After this, things got worse. We've talked with MULTIPLE other new residents in the community, and they've ALL had the same issues. The superintendent was extremely dismissive of all our concerns during our pre-closing walk-through. Everything was done by the builders half-assed, I had to go around and do touch-ups that they missed by myself. We did our final closing walk, and cracks in foundation and cement were completely brushed aside. Literally every other resident in the area has said they had the same problem. When we reached out this week to ask that they complete some warranty work that still hasn't been completed after 2 weeks of them telling us it would be (leaking sinks that had little to no caulking, siding broken and falling off the side of the home), they told us we need to schedule a time for their trade workers to come. Their times consisted of Monday-Friday, with window options of 8am-12pm or 1pm-5pm. This apparently is non-negotiable, as our warranty technician made very clear to me by taking a screen shot of the small print in their contract. How convenient that they only preform warranty work during times that you will NEVER be home because we all WORK! The customer service here is horrible. If I have one thing to say, I hope you're not our neighbor. Not because I don't like you, but because you won't like Richmond. I promise you that.

We recently worked with Elkstone to finish our basement in north Fountain, Colorado. We are very…read morehappy with the results. Pros: 1. The general manager we worked with, Luke Woodside, was exceptionally responsive and cooperative. We looked over the progress nightly and gave feedback regularly. Luke was always happy to work with us and incorporate our feedback. I could not have asked for a better GM. 2. Elkstone gave us discounts twice during the project. Once due to a better price we got on tile, and once due to a plumbing issue they made good on. 3. The salesman/designer we worked with, Chad Jarrell, was efficient and professional. His design only needed minor tweaks to match our preferences. The contract he provided was clear with no major surprises. 4. The overall cost (about $50k for about 750 total square feet) was high, but in-line with all other quotes we got. And the fact that they promised and did finish the project in about 5 weeks is incredible. Cons: 1. As with any contractors, we needed to keep a close eye on the project and give input to make sure everything in the design was met. This is not unique to Elkstone, but they are no exception. 2. There was an issue with the tile contractor needing to be a certain company that I did not like. 3. They said they would estimate the cost of permitting within $20, but they were off by well over $400. Not a huge deal, but annoying. Overall, I recommend Elkstone and would use them again.

We were initially satisfied with Elkstone's, but after a couple of years the work began to fail…read more Trim has pulled away from the walls, doors no longer close properly, and we are now dealing with cracking and buckling in multiple areas. The door jambs were not floated properly (and likely the flooring as well), which appears to be the root cause of these issues. We consulted a reputable contractor, who recommended that we contact Elkstone first before moving forward. That contractor ultimately provided a quote of approximately $25,000 to correct the cracking, buckling, and related structural and finish issues. We contacted Elkstone fully understanding that the work was no longer under warranty, but hoped we could work with them to remedy problems tied to the original workmanship. They told us they do not do handyman work and then stopped returning our calls. They do not stand behind their work, and the workmanship has not held up over time. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Please note that the warranty period is minimal and that Elkstone has refused to inspect the work and issues that we're having. We paid around $46,000 in good faith 10 years ago and Elktone has turned their back on us. Shame on them!
