I'm currently…read moretaking a drug abuse cause/treatment class at UNLV and this course was a great opportunity to learn how to help someone if they suspect that they are overdosing. I learned so much from this course and I hope I can take what I learned over to someone that may need help. The course speakers and volunteers of the day were Tim, Tom, Brooke and Carolyn. After learning about the dangers of fentanyl and opioids, we were given an overdose response kit that included a pair of gloves and a thing of Narcan nasal spray, along with watching an instructional video of how to use the nasal spray on someone who may have overdosed. I will be definitely carrying this on me anytime when I'm on campus or anywhere else, but I was advised not to leave it in my car. Afterwards, we were taught how to perform CPR on those dummies that have grey heads and blue bodies, to the beat of Stayin' Alive by The Bee Gees (the beats of the song helped us determine how many presses we should give the victim). I tried not to sing along to this while practicing CPR. We all did a great job practicing and moved on to how to stop external bleeding and how to use a tourniquet after taking a quick five-minute break. Having not used a tourniquet before, it was painful the more I tried to twist it, but even though it is painful to use the more you twist it, it's important to use it for anyone who is in need of a medical emergency. The training course wrapped up with a demonstration of how to use an AED. I've never seen an AED machine in action before, so it was interesting to see how it would actually work. Unlike the Narcan nasal spray, AEDs can be left in your car. I'm glad that I got to attend this course. It was definitely worth the two hours and I know that I can attempt to save someone if they needed assistance. Also, I want to add in that I'm A Community Lifesaver! Well about five fire fighters arrived and were very nice and very prompt. I was offered cold water, it was very hot while waiting for triple A to approve the tow. They obliged and felt it was ridiculous as I did. Needless to say I appreciated their time and kindness and felt bad I was forced to call them to get approval my car was not leaking gas. 6/29/23 730 am…read morePassport renewal With my son turning 18 it was time to renew his passport. Very easy process as they accept walk ins starting at 730am. There was a small line when I arrived but the entire process only took 2 hours. The receptionists were nice and I believe the passport specialist was Angie, she was even nicer. So glad we went here instead of making an appointment at a post office. The facility is well kept, plenty of parking and easy to access.

My husband and I were taking care of her for the past 3 years at our house and it was getting too tough. After a couple of falls and with the crazy house of kids running around and my husband and I both needing to work, we knew we needed to find something better for her. After talking with her about it for a while she understood and agreed that it was the best thing for both of us. After a bunch of tears from both of us, we started looking around at places to live. We went and saw about 6 different places and my mom liked different things about each place. When we got to Chancellor Gardens my mom started smiling. She loved the way the entrance looked. The staff and the other people there seemed really happy and a few of them came up and introduced themselves to us. The man that took us around was really nice and was very helpful with telling us stuff we needed to know that noone else had mentioned. He gave us lots of good information about the VA pension that we now have for my mom that helps us be able to afford her living there. She has a really nice room on the second floor and she really likes the view. She is always outside or on the bus going on trips to the casino or shopping. Sometimes her friends come over to her place or she goes to theirs and they play cards together. Mom is starting to lose her hearing a little and the nurse there has been helping give us advice on how to handle her needs as they change. I don't think I could keep working full time, raise a family and still help take care of my mom if I didn't trust everyone there. Sometimes we just go out for lunch on the weekend or I bring her back over to our house and she is so happy. The doctor that comes to the place to see her is very nice and he is very helpful. He seems to genuinely care about her. Anytime I need help with something for her, the guy that runs the place is always there and willing to help. We had some family come in town to visit her a couple of months ago and they even let them stay in a guest room there so they could be with her while they were in town. I love where the building is located too. She feels safe and it is only a couple of miles from our house. We are all hoping she gets to spend the rest of her life there and she tells me she never wants to leave. That this is her home.
