Great place the shop while in Garberville and a local landmark. One of the very early hemp stores.

I was surprised to see they have a decent downtown strip filled with cute local stories and even a pastry shop. One of my favorite stores on this street was Blue Moon Gift Shop. As someone with grandma hobbies, I was in absolute awe at their bead collection. Anyone who enjoys making jewelry needs to visit stat. They have isles and isles filled with beads of every color and size. The rest of the shop is filled with unique crystals, spiritual goodies, art, and stationary. I purchased a small pearl ring made by a local jeweler that is now a favorite in my collection. This spot is worth stopping for! Especially if you enjoy art and locally made items.

Spent way too much, which means I'll be back next time I want to splurge on myself or others. Great for kids, adults, weirdos, etc. loved the RBG stickers and toys, the stones, beautiful handmade things, great scented non toxic candles. Very very very friendly staff and Luna the cat was a bonus to have socializing with us during our almost hour long visit. Made me happy to see a Black Lives Matter sign posted on the wall as well.

You will be given a ticket with a 4-digit code plus a separate code for the bathroom. The gift shop also serves coffee and some food items and has a separate room in the back that serves as a dispensary. Yes! This is Humboldt County after all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ If driving along Highway 101 towards Avenue of the Giants, it's pretty hard to miss seeing The One Log House, located next door to the Grandfather Tree. It's made from a 2100 year old gigantic redwood tree in crafted in 1946. It took 8 months to gut and hollow out the room and is 7-feet high and 32-feet long. I was able to walk inside nicely (I'm 5'2" hehehe). The log house toured the US in its early years until it settled in Redwood Country in 1999. Inside is just like a home complete with a kitchen, bedroom and living space. It seemed a perfectly livable residence. But anyway, there's the kitchen complete with various spices and salt, a breakfast nook, dual beds, reading tables, bench, books and magazines. I couldn't resist stepping in to check it out. One Log House is nestled in the heart of the Redwood forest. Worth the stop. Review #2512

I read they may be doing a festival there in the summertime, although they may not be able to... My husband and I were really excited to go check out the cannabis in the rear of the store, but the unbecoming behavior of the security guard really turned us off. It almost felt like they were laughing at us?! Or mocking me. The prices of the cannabis growers apparel was absolutely ridiculous-$80 for a sweatshirt that says nothing about Humboldt county even. I wouldn't waste my time - coffee was good.

Roadside Attraction along the Avenue of the Giants…read more While researching for places to visit in Humboldt County I came across this quirky roadside attraction that was surely supposed to be worth a stop when visiting the redwoods. The "World Famous Tree House" located in Piercy as it claimed to be may not only be closed but by the looks of it I think it may have totally gone out of business altogether OR they could just be closed during the winter season. The gift shop had a sign outside that said 'closed,' the surroundings look unkempt, next to the gift shop was a section full of unorganized stuff, empty boxes as if cleaning out the area, and the plants around the tree house were overgrown. I didn't want to go further inside the property. The deck where some chainsaw carvings were once displayed was falling apart and seemed unsafe to stand on. The tree is actually still alive. There were stairs that led below to the door of the treehouse. The other side had a window which we couldn't see anything inside because it was dark inside. The tree house was named the World's Tallest Home in a Ripley's Believe It or Not cartoon in 1933 and over time it became known as the World Famous Tree House. If it was anything like "The Living Chimney Tree" we saw in Phillipsville then I need not see inside. Unfortunately, that was all I could share about my experience. We'll try another time and maybe we'll get lucky on our next visit and find this enchanting roadside charm open. Review #2514

It's a great place to pick up anything that you realized that you may have forgotten or to restock on anything you may need during your stay in Shelter Cove. They really have all the essentials, which is nice and we visited here a couple times during our most recent stay in Shelter Cove. The town of Shelter Cove is a small coastal town so wherever you are staying in the area, this general store is easy to get to. As we pulled up, they had fresh vegetables and fruit for sale outside the store. We were warmly welcomed as soon as we entered the store and everyone was very friendly. The store is on the smaller side, although they were well stocked and had everything we were looking for. The store was clean and really well organized. I really liked that it was very easy to find everything that we were looking for. They have bear canister rentals as well as trail information if you are hiking the Lost Coast Trail. The Lost Coast Trail stretches about 25 miles along the coast and Shelter Cove is where people start or end this trail. People tend to come here (by car or plane since they have a small runway) to have a nice relaxing weekend on the coast or to hike the Lost Coast trail. If you are doing the latter and have forgotten anything, this is a good place to stop. They have a gift shop next door with items from many local artists and craftspeople and it's a great place to get unique souvenirs. An all around excellent general store to meet your needs while visiting the beautiful Shelter Cove area!

At 7:29 four cars pulled up to the only in-town store, which closes at 7:30. I was one of them, needing to get baby food and diapers for my 1-year-old. Nope. The clerk literally shut the door in our faces and left. Technically, she's in the right--7:30 is closing time. But it's also an obvious F-u to anyone who looks different or looks like they are from out of town, no matter how much they need the tiniest bit of kindness or hospitality. Shelter Cove is a beautiful place with some very harsh people.
