Great cheap haircuts in the utsa area. Came in on a Tuesday at 4 and there was only one other person getting a haircut. Got a low taper on the sides and a trim on the top by Tony and walked away pleased. Will come again. read more

Walked in and was immediately seated. Maria did a great job on my haircut - my wife loved it too. Modest pricing was also welcomed. No $40-60 dollar haircuts with "free" drinks. Mine was $26, and when I hit 65 I believe it is reduced to $23. They use real warmed shaving cream on your neck and a hot towel after that for the final trim. All that was missing was a blue/red barber pole and old jokes. read more

I had a pretty bad haircut at other places the times before but when I came to her she fixed my hair over the past couple times I've seen her to how my haircut use to be. I've been coming to Helotes Barber Shop for years, and they've always given me and my sons a great cut. I've seen people in other reviews complain about prices ($20 or less), which is comical since most barbers in my area charge $35+ a cut. I've never waited longer than 15 minutes to get a cut, and always come out feeling fresh. read more

I've been getting my haircut here for a very long time. I get the absolute best haircut and plenty of friendly conversation. Plus you never know who you're going to run into. I like to support local business and don't usually leave a review unless the service is extremely good or poor. Unfortunately in this case the service was extremely poor. About a month ago my son and I received hair cuts from a stylist that were so bad I had to have someone fix both our cuts. I figured maybe the stylist was having a bad day. I went back today and waited a full hour and as I was about to inform the stylist of the haircut I wanted but she directed me to the stylist that messed up our hair earlier. I informed her I would like her to cut my hair and she told me she did not cut my kind of hair. I was not sure if that meant my style of haircut or type of hair but I was not going to give her the opportunity to prove her lack of skill. Definitely not recommending or returning. read more

Decent haircut with straight razor shave of neckline and behind the ears. It would be a great place if they actually catered to their clientele a bit. For example, this is supposed to be a guys place. It has sports team gear all over, and one of the TV's shows ESPN, which is good. The problem is that the main TV, the one that you see sitting in the chair, and the one with the sound turned on is showing Rachel Ray. Seriously, guys don't want to come to a barber shop to watch Rachel Ray flirt with Kermit the Frog, which is exactly what was going on when I was in there as short time prior to this review. In addition, the barbers, which are all female, seem to spend just as much time watching Rachel Ray as they do actually cutting hair. I have been their twice now, and both times I can see my barber watching the TV while they are supposed to be focusing on my haircut. I gave it two chances in case the first time was a fluke. I won't be back for a third. read more

Been here several times since moving to San Antonio about a year ago. First off I do agree with Leslie's review that the general attitude here is very negative. The EXCEPTION to that is stylist Sheila, who I always ask for and will wait for if she's busy. She does an excellent job, and has a great attitude, almost totally opposite of the other ladies working there. If it weren't for Sheila I would go somewhere else, but I recommend giving her a shot. It's nice doing business with a local place that still has the small town feel. read more

Prices has gone up again ... $20 a cut ... barbers seem to do a really good job but are slow ... some spend way to much time talking and socializing ... guess some ppl like that ... Very decent prices and my son got exactly what he was wanting (he's 9, typically does the super short on the sides, long on top hipster cut). The stylists/barbers seem generally unhappy and annoyed, but... They seem to do good job, so... We'll probably give it a second chance. Maybe everyone will be in a better mood that day. read more

Excellent service and excellent cut! It wasn't just a buzz and clip haircut you'd get at a chain place, but a real haircut with all the bells and whistles for not a huge price. Warm shaving cream, straight razor, hot towel, and real attention to detail. Definitely would recommend to anyone to try. read more
