I'll be back to order cabinets when I finally buy a house (Kenny hires a driver to bring up a big 5th wheel truck and trailer with the cabinetry and Amish Craftsman in it to install in your house!) The contact info is wrong. Here is the corrected stuff: Yoder's Custom Hadcrafted Amish Cabinets, Furniture, Trim and Doors Kenny Hochstetler 1476 CR 1025E North Market St Sullivan, IL 61951 Ph/Fax 217 728-2166 Delivery to Chicago is available. $200-300. But even with that delivery charge the price Kenny gave me was well below a similar product I almost purchased at Crate and Barrel. I say a similar product for a reason: Crate and Barrel offered a solid Mango wood table in two finishes that was roughly the dimension and type for my apartment, but at Yoder's I created a one off piece that I will have for years! Here is the break down of my table: 42"x42" Solid Oak (I had the option of four different woods: Cherry, Maple (hard and soft), and Oak). The design of the table I picked out from a catalog that he had at the store. After I chose the general design, I elected to customize it by asking it to be counter height (36") vice the pictured bar height (42"). Then I selected the wood of my preference. Only the Hard Maple was slightly more. Then I moved on to the bevel on the edge. There were about ten options for this; I went simple with just a 1/4" round. Now we went back to our catalogs and chose chairs. There were so many options! Some of the chairs are ordered from the Amish in the Ohio Valley, but the material and craftsmen ship is just as good. Once the material construction specs were set it was time for a finish! I chose (from about a 100 or more different options) a fruit-wood top and black lower (he had some of that finish on the showroom and it looked sleek. Then once that was all set. I asked if he could do a bench for me in the same exact style as the stools I chose for the table (to fit right under a window in the kitchen area in my city apartment). I gave him dimensions and said make it like one of the stools and that was it! Construction and delivery will take 6-8 weeks but well worth it. All that with delivery was a hundred dollars less than the Crate and Barrel table and chairs I was going with. Here is the price break down: table was 575, stools 121, bench 242, + delivery and tax. They take credit card as well so don't think you need to take a bunch of cash down there. Payment is half down at the time of order and half upon satisfactory delivery. Hope this helps you guys who were looking for some good furniture and are fed up with high prices and junk wood that only lasts a couple years. Joel

Kenny was introduced to us through our general contractor who built our master bathroom extension…read more My wife wanted twin vanities that would house the sinks and would be connected by a "bridge" piece that she could use as a make-up space. The pieces she wanted are manufactured by a well known company but the sizes they offered were not adequate for the space. In addition, we wanted a custom built in closet that would partially fit into a previous window cavity and extend into the room, flanked by shelving units. A main door and bathtub skirt panel was also needed. Kenny met with us prior to the build start and all we were able to give him was an idea sketch, rough dimensions and a tear sheet from a catalog that showed a photo of the manufactured piece. Kenny later visited the site while it was only a shell, and took further measurements. There was an issue with having to accommodate water supply lines that were to be inside the room as the wall was an outside one. The color was another challenge since it was a proprietary color/stain exclusively made for the manufactured version. {We were able to obtain a sample piece of wood with that color, which Kenny matched perfectly!) Kenny was in contact with us and gave us a progress report with revised sketches, photos of work in progress, and then showed up twice more to take more accurate measurements. Keep in mind that Kenny lives about 4 hours away from us! Once everything was ready for installation, Kenny arrived with everything in a trailer and proceeded to install everything with a carpenter, on loan from the GC. Amazingly, everything fit like a glove! We had white quartz counter top installed on top and added nice hardware. We are extremely satisfied with the fantastic work Kenny did. The pieces are solidly built, the dovetailed drawers operate smoothly and are self closing. The doors on the built-in also soft close. I am not positive about the final price since he was sub contracted through the general contractor, but I know he came well below another carpenter we originally interviewed. I would strongly recommend Kenny to anyone who wants a beautifully made, sturdy and stunning furniture for any style needed.
