The estimator who came out was nice and returned a quote quickly. He was honest about a longer than usual time for supplies and installation due to Coronavirus so I was expecting a 2-month delay. The price was competitive so I hired them. My neighbor hired them about a week later so we were told our fences would be done the same time. It was downhill from there. As we approached the 2-month mark, my neighbor and I took turns calling to see when we would get the fences installed because there was no proactive communication from the company. A crew finally showed up at my neighbor's house almost 2 months to the day since I signed the contract. They installed my fence 3 days later. The fence looks good so that part of the work is fine. However, they tore up my front and back lawn with their machine, leaving large tire ruts and huge mud chunks everywhere. I spent an hour picking up leftover fence parts and nails, filling in gouges around the yard and reseeding where they had torn up sod. The lack of customer service and cleanup are what gives them a C. Spend a little more money and hire a company that pays attention to the details of customer service. read more

Without a doubt the most rude obnoxious individuals that I have ever encountered. I pulled into their parking lot on a Saturday wanting to get an estimate. I realized they were closed when I walked up to the office and it was locked. When I was leaving an employee or owner was closing gate to the parking lot.I rolled down my window to let him know I hadn't realized they were closed Before I had a chance to say anything he told me I didn't own the place and to leave! Poor materials used in the fence panels created a need to replace multiple panels within a few years. The bulk of the remaining fence is now approximately 10 years old and is being completely removed. The fence posts were supposed to have been set in cement. I now know they were not, as they have rotted and shifted. We chose Helm Fencing as our neighbors had used them, and we wanted to match fences. The neighbor has also had issues with durability, and replacing sections. read more

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!! TRUST ME Helm did not write a readable estimate with a total price including new fence price + rock charge + fence removal =s total for the job!! Then they came and installed the side and rear fence in the wrong place! Side clearly marked by surveior stakes and rear had neighbor fences as guides. Side fence in 8 1/2 inches and rear 4 inches into our property. Then rock charge a problem because they said they could not give an amount since not known until dug...we asked them for an idea and again they refused. We advised them to move both fences! They agreed to move since their formans fault but not until we signed a new change contract with an extra $600 for rock charge. Total was written on change contract with $4300 original amt + $600 for rock charge - $1500 deposit =s $3400. Forman AJ threw phone at his work truck and tools around when he found out he needed to move the fences causing my wife to vomit from stress that Helm caused! They moved fences but then never replaced bad boards on fence as requested! Then after they had 4 business days to look over change contract they wrote up a bill for another $200 for fence removal and treatened collection action if not paid in 7 days with full warrenty revoke! They tried to get more and more money every step of the way and also threatened to not finish fence if we did not pay overpriced rock charges! The customer does not come first at Helm and they do not know how to write a proper estimate!!! LOSERS did not dig down far enough...fence posts moving...Unprofessional is the nicest word for this company and employees!!! read more

I I had HELM FENCING come out to add on to an existing fence I had previously installed as a gift from my late father . I wanted the exact style and capping. (Colorado with Horse Heads and Federation caps) . I was very greatful for the dilligent work of Joe, my sales rep in his knowledge about the fencing and recommendations on style and transition of the fence . Joe took his time with me and I felt never rushed me. He listened to what my "end result" of what I was attempting to gain and his recommendations were on point to my needs . I never felt rushed or like I was "a sales pitch" nor did I feel pressured to go with a different design. The price quote I felt was VERY reasonable and actually below CLF and FD quote . My installers Mike and Mark if I recall correctly were on time, promt and treated me with respect and most importantly respected my property in the digging up process. The head installer made sure to confirm the line and any digging with me prior to, which again made me feel as if the installers were invested and took pride in their work . What impressed me most was how well my fence looked after installation on a down grade and with " not so perfect grade of land." A lady was driving by while the installers were working and stopped to ask for a card and compliment their work. I think that action in itself speaks volumes! I'm not the fence expert and when making an investment in your home such as a fence, a homeowner wants to feel secure in their choice of company, I felt the entire process from the initial call with Ester, who really will diminish your skepticism, if you have any about installing a fence, to the sales rep, Joe to the installers, Mike and Mark were superior service all around. The owner Pete even came out a week later to replace a small sliding piece / end himself, as this was missing from the factory . What you will get with HELM FENCING is 1- No pressure sales pitch 2- Superior installers with fencing knowledge 3- Exactly what you envisioned in your mind - an investment in a beautiful fence. While this review was from work performed November 2017, I'm excited to have HELM FENCING return to continue my fence around my property .Thank you - for treating my fence as if it were being installed in your own home! I wish I would have checked more reviews first. I saw their name listed in the 'Best of Main Line' book and gave them a try. Absolutely awful experience from beginning to end. I am posting content from an actual email I sent to Helm detailing my issues with their service and products. It has been over a month and I have not heard back. This company does not care about their customers and I am personally confused as to how they are in business. The following is a timeline of our experience with Helm Fencing. June 20 - Joe came out to view the property and come up with details of estimate. Promised to provide written estimate for various fence types to be sent via email that evening or next day. June 22 - First estimate provided with one fence type; since we requested (and were promised) different estimates for different fence types/materials we called back and left a message to discuss other options June 26 - Finally able to speak with someone (Pete) regarding fence design; selected design as both parties looked at picture on Helm website June 27 - Received revised estimate based on discussion with Pete; apparently he wrote the incorrect name of the fence on the estimate, however given neither my husband nor I know technical names of fence designs we took the company at their word - big mistake June 27 - Submitted deposit and asked for date for install June 28 & 29 - Called repeatedly and emailed asking details about install date; no response June 30 - Received response and explanation for booking install date (they book weeks out and will only call you that week to set up a time) Aug 8 - We noted it had been five weeks and called to see our status in line; they asked if we ever put down a deposit; once confirmed we had, scheduled our fence for the next day Aug 9 - AJ and one other installer arrived to install posts; said they'd try to be back tomorrow as it was a small job and we'd receive a call letting us know if the custom build was ready for the 10th or 11th Aug 10 - Received a call from Joe asking what fence type we wanted; my husband explained again the same fence type we discussed with Pete on June 26th; obviously at this point we were concerned given they were supposed to have fence built yet they didn't know the fence type. Aug 11th - Fence and gate installed; We followed up with an email that evening explaining this was not the fence type discussed Aug 30th - Had not received any response from anyone at Helm; we followed up again explaining wrong fence type and now issues with gate (splintering, uneven install) Wk of September 19th - After an additional phone call, finally spoke with Joe who agreed to come back to home to look at issues; Joe returned and discussed options for fixing gate and fence. Agreed that the quality of gate was sub par and it should be fixed. Agreed to fix on site so we would not be without gate. As for the fence: explained they could come back and re-install the correct fence or offer $250 credit for the error. We agreed on the credit. Joe said he would be in touch tomorrow to schedule a time to come back and fix the gate on site. Never called next day Week October 25th - Joe shows up unannounced and takes off property gate to fix. This was after a month of waiting and not the agreed solution (said he would fix on site so we would not have to be without gate); gate reinstalled next day; 2 bolts from gate found on floor after install (extremely dangerous considering small children live and play in the yard) Oct 25th - Invoice received with discount different from what is quoted. I ordered vinyl fencing for my yard in May of 2015. They took measurements and said they would get back to me when it was in to set up a schedule to install. I paid $1500 down payment and the rest would be paid on completion. I called multiple times over the summer and didn't get an installation until August of 2015. I found out later the material had been there for 2 weeks and had not received a phone call from them. The day they showed up for installation he installer told me the double 6 ft gate It was sent as 1- 6 ft gate instead of 2, 3 ft gates and they would have to reorder that piece. I had received no calls from the office about that and the installers just showed up with the wrong gate. The workers worked the whole day but stopped at 4pm before the other gate was installed because that was their quitting time. I have two dogs and one was a puppy only a few months old. I had to put them on run leashes to keep them from running out of the yard. It took about a week before someone came to install the the one gate which took him about 2 hours to install by himself. I kept calling about the second gate to see if the order came in and from the initial install of the fence to them getting a date to install the double gate took about a month. Never did they call me to inform me of anything. I had to continuously call them. One of their workers was supposed to come by to install the double gates after he finished another job, but her never showed up. Finally, the owner came to install the gates and he also came alone and I had to help him by holding the gates so he could screw them into the rails so they would be level. After everything was installed, the fence on the one side of the house looks all crooked. In the 2 years since I've had the gate, I've had to have someone come out to repair the lattice work on the tops of the gate because they blew out during a wind storm. Seems the latticework was not installed properly and just shoved into the top of the gate instead of being properly crimped or screwed in. They also charged extra money if they had to use an auger to get through rock and they charged per hole. Personally I think they could have finished the job a lot quicker if they used the auger on all of the holes instead of just where they hit rock instead of hand digging out the holes. So the end price was more expensive because they had to add the price per hole dug with the auger. I have never been so angry with a company's service in my life. Had I done more research, I never would have hired this company. read more

If I could give this company no stars I would. The guy came out to give me an estimate and was rude and very short with me. Never explained any options with me, didn't go over any prices and when I told him what I did want he said that's too expensive. He then handed me a brochure, with no prices in it, and pointed to one of the many different styles and said, that's what you will get. He then left and said he would get back to me with an estimate, which he never did. Extremely dissatisfied with this company and I would not recommend them to anyone. I wish I had received the service most of your customers have received. I had complained in the past regarding our original order being late and then the fence finally brought was the wrong fence. Sad to say I feel I must complain again due to what the fence looks like after over 10 years. I didn't expect we would need to place boards all along the bottom because the fence has shifted and our dog can now get out underneath the fence. The point of the fence was to keep our dog in. Also, the gate is very difficult to open and close since the latch is no longer even. Very disappointed in the craftsmanship and service. read more
