Some great sea views too. The resturant has good food but lacks atmosphere as its too casual and there doesn't feel as if there is a defined bar area. The service is what makes this place very good everyone works hard and they are very attentive. The team is a huge selling point of this hotel one of the best I've seen. We paid £150 per night for b+b which I feel is a little high but this is good escape for someone looking for a slower pace break.

Good covid19 precautions in place. Ordering and payment was by their app on our mobiles. Worked perfectly with drinks arriving promptly. After a pint or two of their Ghost Ship we started to get hungry. By the way, its odd but Ghost Ship tastes so much better in Southwold as I feel it comes directly from the Adnams Brewery by pipe. That's what I like to believe. As I said, hunger crept in so we decided to have their seafood sharing platter with a glass of good British Bacchus grape wine. Delicious, who needs the French wine now. The platter was enormous with so much to share. Luckily we did come to an agreement on my partner having all the cockles so I could have the two oysters....out of this world. A wonderful friendly atmosphere from the very professional staff. He did a fine job waiting on our table but we felt like it was always rushed. We had short rib pie, the sea bass & the snapper & they were all excellent. The birthday brownie was complimentary & a nice touch. Their warm bread was outstanding. They have a nice wine list, although being from the states I wasn't familiar with most of their wines. The atmosphere is just right, not too stuffy but does have class. I'd definitely would go again whenever I'm back visiting.

Lovely food, super service and a great atmosphere. We've been several times so are quite used to writing down our own order and don't think twice about it now - it makes it more relaxed and informal in my opinion. We didn't have room after two courses for a pudding but I was delighted to receive a 'happy birthday' plate with complimentary dark chocolate brownie complete with lit candle! Yum! Good wine list but always on the pricey side & v expensive to drink wine by the glass. Great to be able to see the kitchen and the food being prepped. Pretty good service usually. Still an absolute pain in the bum trying to get a table on a Saturday night - we don't even bother trying any more, wish they took bookings as it's frustrating when you've got guests & want to take them to such a lovely setting - we tend to go to Seckford or The Crown, instead. I took a liking to the pub sign, a slightly creepy smiling angel blowing in the wind. The menu seemed interesting enough and my companion was sold on the pork belly, so we went inside. The decor is OK, but there are not a lot of tables; the ones closer to the front windows are clearly the most popular choice - the others, by the kitchen door, can be quite dark during the day. My starter (smoked duck + waldorf salad) was ok, just a bit mean on the duck. The salad was unremarkable. For my main I opted for the burger and even though the skinny fries were on point, my burger was just a shrunk bit of dried meat bang in the middle of a good brioche. What can I say? The bread + cheese tasted better than the meat. My companion ham hock was much better than anything else we ate there; his main course was fine, but he had to ask for an extra piece of crackling since the one he originally got was ridiculously tiny - I mean TINY. It's a pity, since the staff is really smiley and lovely and location is great. They do have wi-fi, though - a must in the area. :)
