Phat Burgers, I've been told, are some of the best burgers in Toowoomba. They may have slipped in…read morethat time because when I visited on Saturday for lunch they were fairly standard. I opted for the mini Doctor (beef pattie, beetroot, mint yoghurt, fetta and rocket) while my dining companion opted for the standard Van Helsing (one of their best sellers). The buns were a standard white burger bun and the fillings standard. I don't mean to sound overly harsh but just can't expertly express in words how underwhelmed I felt by the whole dining experience. The service was patchy with a few orders being attempted to be delivered to our table before they realised it wasn't ours, and, to echo Nic M's sentiments, for the almost $30 we parted with for 2 burgers (one standard, one mini and one can of drink), I guess I expected more. The interior isn't particularly fancy and is reminiscent of a fish and chips shop my family used to visit regularly in Toowoomba when I was growing up. I will say, unless you have a fantastic eating capacity, opt for the mini size burger which is more of a standard size. The normal sizes are ridiculously big and could actually easily feed two adults.

The 32 minutes it took (they were not busy) to cook one piece of barra ($11) and one piece of snapper ($9) gave me plenty of time to notice the absolute filth and rubbish on the floors that left my shoes sticking to the floor, and the grimy kitchen walls that clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. When we finally received our order and returned to our car, we opened our order to find each piece was wrapped in separate butcher paper that was so loaded with oil that it was soggy to the point that the fish could not be picked up. Oil was leaking from the paper already. The fish was obviously frozen prior to cooking as it had gone a lovely depth of mushy with a vile sour tangy taste. After a few scoops with the fingers, as you couldn't pick it up properly, we gave up and bundled it up for the dogs. I should have known better that to even attempt to eat it as I am now still crook over 15 hours later. We will NEVER be back.

Lots of choices on the menu, something for everyone, kids included. Seating is mixed. High benches with stools, long tables with chairs, and a couple of small round tables. There is outdoor as well as indoor seating, the indoor area is surrounded by clear blinds that are pulled up to let in the fresh air in summer. The service I recieved when my order was wrong left a bad taste in my mouth with the kitchen hand who served me yelling from the kitchen about the order. Then when the meal was replaced and the correct item given the Burgeds we recieved were incorrectly made. Missing key components such as bacon and a whole piece of chicken. Would not recommend Burger Urge Toowoomba if this is their regular service quality.
