Hellinika had enough hype to suggest this was a place to visit. Sadly we felt badly let down. The food was relatively bland without the richness of taste and textures that Greek food offers. Taramasalata was smooth and creamy but lacked depth of flavour typical of this dip. There was only a slight saltiness that suggested it was the same dish we know and love. BBQ'ed octopus wasn't rubbery. It was tasty but tough. The meatballs were the highlight for taste but were dry and had no accompanying sauce. Peas and potatoes managed to combine overcooked peas and undercooked potatoes. We didn't bother venturing further into the menu to avoid further disappointment. Comments from others about the food are perhaps from too long ago as this restaurant seems to have lost the plot. Service was negligible. Lots of staff but no attention to detail. Sloppy joes and casual pants left us feeling like we'd visited a gym at dinner time. Perhaps the clothing had the staff feeling too relaxed, untrained or unsupervised? I'm not going back. There's lots of great restaurants in Fortitude Valley. Try the others instead. read more
