Communication with the staff was decently quick, but the design I sent ahead of time was not used nor mentioned during the visit. You must make a deposit to set an appointment which I did not find strange, but no work was done prior to my visit, so the need for a deposit really only benefits the shop, as I still had to wait on tattoo prep during my visit. I think this is more a process improvement needed on their side. The shop was clean and the shop took every precaution I have seen in prior tattoo shops. After tattoo instructions were clearly communicated and given. The shop is also well located, albeit I do not know how easy it would be to find without good apps. My tattoo artist Igor was good. Thanks a ton for your work! Ultimately my tattoo is what I wanted, where I wanted, and I think at a decent price. I found Igor direct, which may be a bit different in terms of service than other places in North and South America. But his communication was clear and he was attentive. Ultimately, Black House Tattoo is a fine place to get a tattoo. I think their pre-appointment work could improve especially if I send content beforehand. But Igor was a great artist and did a great job. I prefer to make my payments on a credit card, but that is not the preferred payment method of the shop. Cash is king here, which is fine. I do think it should be communicated a bit more quickly, as I had missed that until I was already booking an appointment.

I booked because as an English-speaking tourist I was worried about the language barrier around something so permanent. Right away I was made to feel very comfortable and everything from process to payment was explained clearly. I used the online form to request my tattoo and the artist I was matched with, Omkar, talked through what I had submitted, found additional reference photos, discussed the pros and cons of certain placements, and was very transparent about costs associated with different sizes and levels of detail. Once we were on the same page and he had a strong idea, he freehanded the idea onto my skin and consulted with me again. If you want to watch a true artist bring something unique to life using your skin as the medium, Omkar is the artist for you, as he has wonderful technique and an incredible eye for how the art will interact with your body. We settled on an area around the elbow joint for my piece and I was a little intimidated, because I've always heard tattoos hurt really bad around joints! But while I gritted my teeth to tough it out, Omkar started "sketching" with a fine needle to lay out the piece and shaded with a precise but gentle touch. I felt only a normal level of pain which he distracted me from with a lovely conversation. Always defer to your artist for a balance between chat and focus as they work if you're a yapper like me, but at his pace we had a wide-ranging conversation about our various travels and artistic interests (ask him about film if you're also a fan!). I'm not exaggerating when I say the combined experience of working with Omkar to bring this "souvenir" to life and getting to watch him execute his idea makes this the best tattooing experience I've ever had. Worth every crown, and they don't gouge, despite their excellent location in Prague and working with many tourists. I can't stop looking at my piece, especially how it bends with my arm so organically... I know I will be pointing people to Magic Tattoo even back home in America, so if you're anywhere closer, you better go!
