This place only has 3 tables and one of the owner/employees smokes in the back room. These are all signs that most of their business is takeaway (zum mitnehmen). But their food is delicious. Their ingredients seem to be better than average and more copious. I ordered a #01 on their menu which is a Doner Kebap with extra fleisch (meat). I vaguely recall the price premium for extra fleisch is ~1 euro which is not much compared to other Kebap houses' extra meat options. This might be because this places basic options start slightly more expensive than the competitors. The server packed this bread mitt like a champ. Speaking of bread, they serve my favorite kind of Doner wrapping. It is the thicker bread with a wavy texture (from grilling) that is cut. This is in lieu of the split open, unleavened pita bread. Helin's bread texture is a little chewy and they grill it to a crunch on the outside. All signs of quality.
The meat is flavorful but more greasy than the standard Doner. Depending on your stance, this is either good or bad.
Interestingly, my table had hot chili oil in a container with a spoon, just like a Chinese dim sum house would have. I tepidly tried a bit on my Kebap and guess what? It was actually good this way! Who would have thought. read more
