So we had to drive to Liberty Helicopter's Kearny NJ heliport for the $200 City Lights Tour. This tour was WELL WORTH IT! My wife was on the ground watching me lift off haha. The tour lasted about 15-20 minutes and I sat upfront with the pilot. This was such a smooth and breath-taking experience. The staff was awesome..especially "Q" who made us all feel relaxed before the big event with his information about visitors' perspectives from around the world and had explained how much of a "family" atmosphere this Kearny heliport is as compared to the NY heliport. Once we got there we had to show them our IDs and watch a safety video. Then they took in a line to the chopper, before you board they take your picture which you can purchase later. The ride was amazing, the views were beautiful and you get to see a lot in 15 minutes. You start by seeing the Statue of Liberty as you head through downtown then the garden as you head to midtown. You get to see a lot and as a New Yorker I knew where to look and what I was looking at but I felt bad for the other people there since they were tourist and the pilot didn't really say much or explain the sites. Overall it was a great experience.

Close-up views of Hudson Yards, Empire State Building, Chelsea piers, Little Island, Hoboken, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Freedom Tower, Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, 911 Memorial. Captain did a few U turns for extended views of Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge viewable from both sides of the boat. The front of the boat was a very popular place for viewing in spite of the winds. Hardest part was getting here has no nearby subways stations. Subway station closest was Hudson yards and 34th, even then it was a 1 mile walk to get to this place near the Intrepid aircraft carrier exhibit on 12th and 46th. As nervous as we were, we felt extremely comfortable with our awesome pilot Josh. He was friendly and not intimidating at all. He put our nerves at ease with his relaxed nature. This was super important to me as we were celebrating a special birthday and I wanted it to feel that way. Many of the NY companies have negative reviews about poor attitudes. Who needs that? Our helicopter had 2 seats in the front and 2 in the back. Some other companies charged more for "private tours". This was but without the up-charge. To start, the arrival instructions emailed in advance were accurate and easy to follow and accounted for local construction. Our tour was for us and one couple; Captain Bryant was our captain, and he was an absolute delight. He went through the safety information and told us what to expect from our time on the water as well as some information about our boat before leading us to it right on time. The boat was at the end of the floating docks with a lockable storage container nearby in case anyone wanted to store purses or backpacks. We got a bit of a chuckle once we got on board, because we had never seen seats like this on a boat before! The seats were two across and you sat on one by straddling. Grab bars were at the front. (There aren't any seatbelts!) Captain Bryant told us the seats in the front were the "bounciest", so naturally, that's what we chose. We went slowly out of the marine before -- with a heads up -- our captain got us to what felt like a pretty high speed! My mom and I are both moderate adrenaline junkies and were pretty thrilled. It was a definite rush but never, ever felt unsafe. From there, Captain Bryant alternating between "hitting the gas" and stopping at multiple spots for absolutely stunning views of midtown, downtown, the Brooklyn Bridge, DUMBO, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and more. He was super clear, easy to understand, and informative about each stop but never boring. He also took photos (with our own phones) at the stops whenever we wanted, which was very kind. He got us back after the hour -- again, right on time, and we chatted with him a bit about how enjoyable he finds this job. It's clear in the entire experience what a wonderful fit it is for him -- and he is for it. I wouldn't recommend this tour for someone with mobility or balance issues, or someone who would feel exposed and anxious in such a relatively small (but FAST) boat out on the rivers. But for me, it's one of my favorite boat tours I've ever taken anywhere. It was 1000% worth the money (with no upselling!).

She explained everything from the buildings, bridges, Ellis island and the Statue of Liberty. You get a really good photo opportunity of the Statue of Liberty. A recommendation would include getting on the top floor of the ship and standing on the right side. Everything is explained from that side so you will have the best front row view of everything. The trip itself is 90 minutes and it flew by. Bring a jacket with you as it's very windy on the ship. I'd also say to bring some water because you may get thirsty. They sell beverages on the ship but I did not purchase any. If you are going to tip the tour guide make sure to have cash, when you exit the ship they will be there with a bucket for your tips. They also take a photo of you with the Brooklyn bridge behind you, you can get a good view or even better with your own phone from the ship. Just something to consider as well! The ship was a bit rocky so if you get seasick take some pills before hand.

He absolutely lived up to the hype! We were picked up just outside Magnolia Bakery, which worked out perfectly because we got to enjoy their famous banana pudding before our tour began. From the moment we met Barry, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our experience memorable. He took us to all of Central Park's must-see locations and best photo spots. He even helped us adjust our camera settings so we could get the best pictures based on the lighting and scenery. One of our favorite parts was hearing about all the movies and TV shows filmed throughout the park. Barry pointed out famous filming locations and shared fun facts along the way. To top it all off, he took us to the beautiful cherry blossom trees for some amazing photos at the end of the tour. This was such a fun and relaxing way to experience Central Park, and my daughter said it was one of her favorite parts of our entire trip.
