This spot is magical. Owned by Koreans, once you walk in, they will seat you downstairs or…read moreupstairs. The upstairs is entirely Korean. Almost all. There are tour groups, couples, and families. The dishes seem pricier than most taco joints but once you order you'll see why. The stews or jiggaes are legit in a giant tub, enough food to feed about five people. We ordered the gamjatang, the 'chica' size, and it was still way too much food. So much food! Except for the rice. You order that separately, which weirded me out but this ain't Korea.

I suppose they assume you either speak Korean, Vietnamese or you just pick off the pictures. I was not impressed with the menu situation and let me say...the garlic, spices and other seasonings sure pull you in to every spot. I had to eventually go with one and I ended up at Surasand in Colonia Juarez. The staff is very polite and supportive-although they don't know the ingredients or items on the menu themselves. I do very much appreciate the effort and understand being that they (the staff) are not Korean themselves. The place is welcoming, not to noisy and has several private spots. The restrooms are really really nice and a little more roomier than any other this city. They have toilet paper and it's clean! Nice staff, pleasant dinning environment and never a bad idea to try something out of my comfort zone.

My friends and I loved this place! (Note: this review is for the Yucatan location.) After a week of…read moredelicious Mexican food we were feeling something a little closer to home and decided to go for Korean. Unfortunately the place was basically empty when we arrived but we are so glad we didn't let that change our minds. The decor inside was definitely a lot of fun and totally instagram-worthy... something along the lines of Alice in Wonderland meets Biggie? Which definitely reminded me of the Ktown vibes found in Los Angeles. As for the food, I'm always pretty skeptical of non-Koreans doing Korean food or Korean food outside Korean-populated areas (it's something about the texture) - but this place came pretty darn close! Of course the menu itself seemed to be a kind of Korean-majority fusion cuisine with broad Asian influences likely designed for the Mexican palate, but for a bunch of New Yorkers it was still pretty comforting to get a hot bowl of (modified?) bimbimbap on a Friday night in the middle of CDMX. The four of us each ordered something different -arroz frito con bulgogi, hamburgesa mexicoreana, duo de pollo frito, and noodles con veduras. The portions are pretty generous and the flavors definitely hit the spot we were craving for. Needless to say we were all extremely satisfied with our meals. BUT... that's not the end of it. We also decided to order from the Sweet Girl Moves dessert menu, which was probably our best decision of the night. This particular friend group isn't the most ~adventurous~ when it comes to different foods but they all loved the dessert, which were all very interesting flavor arrangements but nonetheless delicious and very creatively presented. My friend ordered the popcorn-themed one and almost practically burst into tears of joy. We definitely left the establishment very happy and well-fed and would recommend it to anyone visiting or local in a heart beat!

I had the bibimbap and it was meh. The rice wasn't even crunchy at the bottom. There's a lack of vegetarian/ vegan adaptations that could be made with tofu. My lunch companion had the fried chicken sandwich which was described as 'ok'.

We always do the BBQ at the table which has never disappointed. The side dishes that are included are typical Korean, and never lack flavor. Their red salsa and Kimchi are always wonderful. We typically order another dish or two including the Ramen, which is always good, but the BBQ here is what shines. They also have some very good Ice Cream options for dessert, my favorite is the Corn Ice Cream which is served in a Corn Husk, and the Coconut Ice Cream which is served inside a coconut shell. We love Biwon and will continue to return!

I honestly do not know how they got so many positive reviews. My friends and I got the soup and it tasted awful. I feel like even the instant soup pack is better than what they made. Maybe this place tastes good for the locals because they never had real korean food before but avoid this place at all cost. I tipped 5% at the end and the waiter came back and asked more for tips. Like please ask yourself what did you do that was above and beyond that earned those tips. I rejected to tip more because the food was awful and they never checked on us how the food was.

We are pleasantly surprised with authentic Korean food in CDMX, totally unexpected :)…read more Food is good and reasonable priced, LA Galbi honestly is better than some of the ones I found in the states... not the best but has good flavor and lean meat (good when you are fighting a stomach bug in Mexico lol). I know that it can be hard to get foreign ingredients in Mexico even though it's gotten a lot better than when I lived there. The banchan were mostly good and abundant. One kimchi was a little too fermented and all were bland, but overall ok. The dolsot bibimbap had few ingredients, just the rice, some spinach, egg and came with some kind of beef paste that didn't taste like gochujang. My husband found it edible, but bland. There is a mistake on the download menu, which I assumed would be more accurate than the physical menu. I ordered seafood soon dubu jigae and got boiled water with a few pieces of zucchini and rawish supermarket mushrooms. I expected the customary silky smooth tofu, but instead it was an unappetizing mess of curdled soy milk. There was no spice from gochgaru or gochujang, just boiled unsalted vegetable water. It was entirely inedible. I ate some rice and banchan. The server first told me I had ordered the wrong dish even though their menu was incorrect. He later offered to redo the order to my liking, but I did not trust that it would be any better. They were very kind and removed the charge. I guess some people found the decor understated elegant. To me it was funeral. This is an expensive restaurant with accommodating owner and staff, but without good food or ambiance. I don't recommend it.

The night that we went, they had a DJ playing, which added another level to the vibes. This seems like a versatile spot, good for both larger groups or intimate dinners. My friend and I started our meal with the soft shell crab bao buns. These were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend. For our mains, we split the Korean fried chicken, duck breast burnt ends, baby bok choy, and Japanese sweet potato. Every single thing we had was tasty! The chicken was perfectly fried and seasoned. The duck breast was cooked well, and the sauce was a perfect complement. My favorite item was the Japanese sweet potato comes topped with white miso and black sugar better. The flavors melded together so perfectly and the potato was savory. The presentation at the table was also interesting. In addition to the food, we each ordered a couple of cocktails. Both the funky monkey and Pyro drinks were well made, with another great table presentation when served. While there was a rowdy party next to our table that annoyed us, the food, drinks and service from beginning to end more than made up for that. I highly recommend stopping here for a meal and some drinks if you ever find yourself in Mexico City.
