For a long time I already wanted to try this hot Bikram Yoga. I am glad I did!…read more
For starters: this is really a good Yoga Asana workout. But I felt a bit like I was in the army: very strict training. It is definitely effective exercise if you can withstand the heat. I have been practicing Ashtanga Yoga for quite a while, even in warm rooms, but not with a temperature as high as 40°C!
Well, I had a really big towel over my mat, and at the end it was completely soaked in a pool of my own sweat. I have to be honest and tell that I was a bit dizzy in the end of the class, but with a few deeps breaths I felt better. They say this gets better once you get more used to the heat. Let's see...
The place itself is really nice, but really Spartan: this is no fancy yoga studio with Buddhas, Shivas, etc... It is just the heated yoga room, the dressing rooms, and the reception area with some sofas. What is really strange is that there is carpet on the floor of the yoga room. Ah... and there are also mirrors on the walls!
There you will need 2 big towels, 1 yoga mat, and a big bottle of water. If you don't want to carry a lot, they provide all the stuff also on site (for a fee, of course).
I really did like the experience and will go again. But I will enjoy it as workout, not as Yoga. It is fun!
