My husband and I visited 7/5/2021 and really enjoyed ourselves. we went in the morning (about 8 am) and had the place almost to ourselves. It is a 1/2 mile hike to the lighthouse b it isn't a difficult hike. I have a bad hip and had no problem getting to the top. There is benches on the way if you need a rest. There is historical markers that show the history to look at as well. There is a light keepers house that is a bed and breakfast. Quite frankly it would make the perfect destination wedding setting on the coast. I don't know the availability or prices. if you have 30 minutes (minimum) to spare I highly recommend a trip to the lighthouse. read more

We were here early in the morning before any of the facilities were open and there didn't seem to be any staff around -- but we still paid the day fee down in the parking lot. It's a bit weird that they have two sets of restrooms and only the composting toilets were functional -- funding cuts maybe? We took the short hike up to the lighthouse and took a bunch of photographs -- the views are great and you'll probably hear and/or see some sea lions down on the rocks below. There are some interpretive signs along the way so you get some history even if there aren't any staff around. It's worth a stop even when the facilities aren't open. I had no idea it was a working B&B until reading some reviews right now -- that would have been a really cool place to stay overnight! read more

Wow! We parked and took an easy, though uphill, gravel 1/2 mile path to the 56' lighthouse that sits atop a 206' bluff. The path provided magnificent views of beach, rocks and surf at almost every turn. The lighthouse is still in use and Oregon's brightest though it was originally built in 1894. The former keeper's home is now a B&B and another building serves as a gift shop though we found nothing there of interest. read more

Beautiful property. Adequate parking. Nice gift shop. Cons: Sign says 3pm tour. We arrived at the lighthouse and the volunteer informed us that we missed the last tour of the day. I think the signage should have mentioned the time you needed to arrive by. We regretted going to the gift shop first. Also, the permanent bathrooms were out of order. Port of potty's were kind of yucky. read more

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and it was simply spectacular. The B&B was perfect. It was romantic, historic and absolutely beautiful. The breakfast is unlike any other and the nighttime hike to the lighthouse made the stay even more special. Do yourself a favor and stay here if you can. You will be grateful you did! read more

Yelpsop's Fables "The two bears and the sea." One day in May, when the skies were grey and the winds cool off the Pacific, two bears made their way to the Haceta headlands, on the central Oregon coast (https://s3-media2.ak.yelpcdn.com/photo/drosS83PZBtVF-xQhBJRPw/l.jpg). Fortunately, they were prepared. They had sweaters (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/heceta-head-lighthouse-florence?select=YWTVzXriHVlFMEAxtLYRpQ#TyE6JgmEAebJgX72J5aRXQ). The bears decided to visit the lighthouse, which was quite famous for being pretty. It was! But there also were paths through the forest to follow, which led to the top of the headlands, and there were even more views of empty beaches and quiet places, where bears would no doubt feel at home (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/heceta-head-lighthouse-florence?select=YWTVzXriHVlFMEAxtLYRpQ#o0pnDlxjrqsyqRa8mxanJw). "I'm glad we came here," said one bear to the other. "It's very nice. And green." http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/heceta-head-lighthouse-florence?select=YWTVzXriHVlFMEAxtLYRpQ#BbeS2Q4epqqtHxyY-J385Q "And wet," said the other bear. "Good thing it's not raining today, because we forgot our rain gear." http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/heceta-head-lighthouse-florence?select=YWTVzXriHVlFMEAxtLYRpQ#P8Znaiqxl_MhFqbaAFjrlw http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/heceta-head-lighthouse-florence?select=YWTVzXriHVlFMEAxtLYRpQ#sWiYrOpPoucby6FICjmV5A "True," said the other. "But at least we remembered our sweaters. And the camera this time." http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/heceta-head-lighthouse-florence?select=YWTVzXriHVlFMEAxtLYRpQ#LnnblCdsznPJdiMsOr2Sdw "I would have enjoyed my visit even if we hadn't brought the camera," said the other bear. "Because getting here isn't just half the fun. It's the whole fun, to see lighthouses and headlands and oceans and beaches and places like this." "Too true, too true," his diminutive ursine traveling companion replied. "Good thing we woke up from our hibernation in Montana to see this spot in person." "I think you mean 'in bearson,' don't you?" "Well, yes, but let's not get too technical about it. Either way, Haceta Head lighthouse is a great road trip rest stop, even without staying overnight at the inn." "Let's get coffee in Bandon later. And a blueberry muffin. I've been meaning to see Face Rock, anyway - in bearson!" He grinned. "OK," said the other bear," laughing as they returned to the car. "Let's hit the road!" And so they did. Moral: Getting there sometimes *is* all the fun. Seeing stuff in person is always better than online. And you don''t have to be a bear in a blue pullover sweater to know that! read more

Beautiful from every vantage point, forest, ocean lighthouse and bridge. Easy parking.

I love the lighthouse! The hike up to the keepers house, which is now a bed and breakfast, is a short one and then take the hike further to the actual light house. Catch a tour with a volunteer to find out about the history of the lighthouse. Amazing views and great photo opportunities. read more

We came here last week to hike up to the lighthouse. Way to many people. We didn't get out of the car. Today it's closed. I guess we will see up close another time. We drove by sea lion caves (closed) for a couple photos. No sea lions outside of cave. read more

One of the loveliest places in the whole county. It's no wonder it is one of the most photographed spots on the coast. Take a stroll up the path to the lighthouse and enjoy the sea birds nesting, sea lions and whale viewing. And once we saw a family of otters playing in the cove. read more

I have been coming to this lighthouse since I was a little kid and every time I come back it's like visiting an old friend. I never want to leave. A short walk from the parking lot to the light and the view gets better with each step. You get to the top and it feels like the edge of the earth. It's very humbling. It's like going back in time. You just sit on the bench overlooking that amazing sea and think of all the ships that have passed her. If you are a fan of lighthouses/ nautical history in general, Heceta Head is a must. read more

Take this review with a grain of salt, because, well, we didn't actually visit the lighthouse. We walked the trail up from the parking area only to realize it is closed for renovations until August 2013. That said, we still managed to have a really nice visit. A small building next to the lighthouse was open for business, and a volunteer was on hand to tell us about the lighthouse's history and show us historic pictures and other memorabilia, as well as explain the ongoing renovations. Other volunteers were likewise very informative, and had set up telescopes for visitors to view sea lions across the bay, and a flock (gaggle? colony?) of murres on a nearby rock. The view from the top of the trail was worth the short, somewhat uphill hike, even if we weren't able to enter the lighthouse. As I've mentioned in other reviews, I'm a complete sucker for gift shops, and one located about halfway up the lighthouse trial was full of all sorts of excellent trinkets. Naturally, we picked up a Christmas ornament to commemorate our non-visit to Heceta Head. Parking is located at the base of the trail, adjacent to the beach, and is subject to an Oregon State Parks fee ($5 per car). read more

Very easy trail that takes you right up to the lighthouse! There's also a trail that goes up behind it for an even better view. Amazing views of the coast as well. I'll be dreaming about this lighthouse for a while. If you're in the area, don't pass by without stopping! read more

Stayed 2 nights. Very quite and scenic. Didn't realize that the 7 course breakfast was going to take 2 hours. If staying 2 nights just be aware. If your not into chatting with people you don't know, small talk. Food was fabulous and bought the cook book. Nice hiking trails and the weather was good for April. read more

Another beautiful lighthouse on the Oregon coast. It is definitely worth visiting, even going a bit out of your way to see it. I won't ramble about the history, which can be read directly from the Oregon State Parks website. There is a fee to get into the area, which I also forget. I think last time I was there it was $7, but don't quote me, lol. read more

Nice walk up to the lighthouse's house. This house is now a B & B, you can tour the first floor. From there is another walk up. The incline is gradual and the path is dirt/forest. I love staying at the Haceta Head B&B when I travel to Oregon. The 7-course family style breakfast alone is worth it, plus it's isolated location perched upon a cliff above the Pacific on the central coast. I've stayed here twice and the first time we had some interesting ghostly experiences. Bummed not to have the lighthouse fully operational either times tho. Since there are only 6 rooms, the summer schedule fills up fast. My only regret is I'm lucky to get one night here, but I always leave wishing I had two. read more

Stay here! Gorgeous views! Sights you will not see again. Beautiful Victorian home with antiques, photos and history. Not your typical B&B.

Heceta Head Lighthouse is a breathtaking sight sitting between Florence and Yachats. I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding right outside at the Heceta Head Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast. The day we came here was the day of one of the biggest storms in Oregon but we were lucky enough to have the sky open up and see the light shine on to ocean during the ceremony. The lighthouse itself is an uphill hike but the view is wonderful. You can also stop at a pull out around the bend and get a view of the lighthouse in the distance. I would love to come back here on a sunny day and hike around more when I'm not working and can take some photos just for fun. I'm pretty sure you have to pay to park in the dedicated parking lot but I'm not 100% sure on that. If you are in the area or driving along the coast, you should definitely take some time to see this lighthouse! read more

Such a treat! This secluded, beautifully maintained, unique property, was the perfect way to experience the Oregon coast. The staff was so attentive and accomodating, and the food was to die for (seven-course, perfectly executed breakfast!!!!!)! We were treated like queens. Heceta Head Lighthouse is one of the most picturesque lighthouses I have seen. You park in a decently sized parking lot and then have the option of enjoying the beach or going on a short and easy hike to the lighthouse. On the way to the lighthouse you will have beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean and the Oregon Coast. Once you arrive, you can go into a small gift shop to buy a souvenir and sign up for a tour. If they're busy, you may need to wait a short amount of time as there is limited space inside the lighthouse. The only downside was that there is limited seating while you wait and there were a TON of flies to the point where we almost decided to leave instead of wait for our turn. The docent are friendly and eager to tell the story of the lighthouse. We really enjoyed the tour and are glad we chose to stay. The best view of the lighthouse, in my opinion, is from a little further down the road. We have a picture I took from that spot hanging in our living room. If you are in Florence, I highly recommend visiting. 4 stars. read more

Thanks Mike Allen, a volunteer at the light house, great tour. Thank you for keeping history alive.

Absolutely worth the small hike. The path is paved and has a slow incline, very doable for most everyone, and the views are terrific. We visited on a very rainy day, but there's so many trees on the path that we were able to stay dry until we got to the landings. The tour was being given at the lighthouse by first time volunteers, and they did a great job. I wish we had been able to climb the stairs to the top but it is currently being renovated. read more

Beautiful stop on the drive down Hwy 101. We had never walked up inside a lighthouse before and the tour guide took us right up to the top. She was also very knowledgeable and knew a lot about the history of the lighthouse and others on the Oregon coast. It was so awesome to see the inside. Tours end at 3pm, so don't get there too late in the day. Be sure to give yourself a few minutes and stop, look around, and snap some photos. Short hike to it, but it was totally doable. read more

This place is gorgeous! The scenery here is unbelievable. Starting at the cove where we stood just taking it in and making our way up the trail. The trail itself is fairly easy but long.
