After calling all of the big name insurance companies and receiving many online quotes, I was left with several outrageously high quotes and an email inbox full of spam. In frustration, I did a random search of local insurance companies and was lucky enough to find Richmond & Associates. I called their office in the 12th hour of my closing process. At 4:00 on a Thursday afternoon, Mr. Richmond was able to offer a quote, and went on to provide me with all of the documents needed to close on my home in less than 24 hours. I was told to bring in their last two oil changes. They get their oil changed once a year because again they drive maybe five miles a week. I brought in the last thee oil changes. Two weeks later I'm told we need a picture of their dashboard with the latest mileage. I'm in Queens. They are in the Poconos, I explained. Could they talk to their underwriters and make the point that two consecutive oil change records are surely enough to show my 80 and 81 year old parents do not drive a lot. They did not volunteer to do this. Could they at least apologize for giving me the wrong initial information? They could not. They show no understanding nor any sympathy of the difficulties of caring for elderly parents from far away. Go elsewhere.
