This adorable little tea shop has a lot to offer. The aroma of steeping tea is what first drew me into the door, and I was quickly offered a taste of two teas that were kept warm and on display on the windowsill. When you walk in, you're presented with a table filled with small glass jars with hundreds of teas that you can smell. Further back, there are a large selection of teapots and tea accessories (timers, steepers, things of that sort).
I already have a shelf full of teas, so I wasn't anticipating buying more, but after tasting the Sencha Almond & Orange tea, I couldn't resist - I bought a 100 gram bag ($5.20) and left with a smile on my face. Everyone else that was with me also purchased a bag or two of tea. It's hard to resist when you have so many aromatic flavours presented to you. If you enjoy teas, you're certain to find something you'll love at this shop.
Furthermore, the woman that was operating the store was extremely helpful and insightful when it came to teas. She was talkative and kind, so customer service gets a definite thumbs-up.
I already know that next time I'm in York and walking through The Shambles, I'll be stopping by this tea shop to pick up some more. read more
