My husband also found a new favorite, the raspberry port. The tasting room is small, but quirky. We were a group of 5, and then another group of 5 walked in, so it was quite crowded. Tasting is $3 or waived if you have the punch card (which we did from visiting their sister winery, Maison de Padgett). I wasn't a big fan of the chardonnays and the other reds, but that chocolate port is just to die for! And the winemaker was there and signed our bottles! :)

The entire place has this "European chateau" vibe that's impossible to fake -- from the architecture to the art to the view over the vineyard rows. Even the drive up feels like you're heading somewhere special. I added a note to our reservation asking for a spot by the fireplace and mentioned we were celebrating a birthday. Not only did they honor it, they nailed it. The chairs were warm, comfortable, and the whole room felt cozy in that old-world way -- fire crackling, candles glowing, and the kind of ambiance that makes you want to slow down and savor everything. The wines were bold and delicious, especially the reds. You can tell they take their craft seriously. They even brought out a little birthday treat, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the moment feel even more personal. We also ordered the cheese plate and honestly, it was perfect. Three different cheeses, a mix of crackers, olives, tiny pickles, and what I'm pretty sure was apricot jam -- everything balanced each other beautifully. Paired with the wine, it felt like the world outside just... paused for a bit. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful without hovering. They made sure we had everything we needed and explained the wines clearly, but still let us relax, enjoy, and take in the atmosphere. If you want a place that transports you, even just for an hour or two, Hedges is absolutely worth the visit. It's one of those wineries where you don't just taste the wine -- you feel the entire experience.

Luckily my friend told me that there is a group of wineries out in Prosser...all within walking distance of eachother and all open fridays/sat/sun for tastings...so off I went. I was happy with a lot of the wineries but one of my favorites was Martinez Martinez. It was located at the building that houses about 5 or 6 different wineries tasting rooms. When I went in their tasting room I was instantly in Mexico. They had a cozy little room with some laid back spanish music playing and the wife and husband were there to greet my friend and I. They were wonderful people and told us all about their winery and that this is barely their first year in business. Their son who is the winemaker was even around to come out and take a pic and tell us about his wines. I tried three of their wines the first was named after their grandson and is a blend of different reds named "Cesar" which was tasty. The second was a unblended Cab Sauv which was deep and robust...not too complex or overworked, just the grapes at their finest. The last was the show stopper and it was their Rose of Cab Sauv (I believe it was called, they just bottled it). They told me the residual sugar content and I closed my mind off saying I woudlnt like it and that it would likely be too sweet. Imagine my surprise when I sipped the chilled wine from my glass and was instantly swept away to a sunny day at the end of summer....sitting in a comfortable chair with friends, drinking the chilled sweetness of various ripe summer fruit. The sweetness of the wine is by no means overdone and goes off your tongue almost as soon as it was there. Its balanced well with the fruity flavors that give it base so you arent just drinking sugar. This wine was amazing and I wish I could have bought a few cases of it. If you are looking to support a wonderful up and coming winery without sacrificing quality of the wines this is it! Make sure to go out there on an open afternoon and spend a few min getting to know them and their wine.

We had one of the owners as one of our hosts, and we had a great time. For the tasting, they separate the reds and the whites. I'm sorry to say that I really only tried their whites, starting from sweet to sweetest, but I still really liked them. The best (from the whites) is probably the apple riesling, the Sweet Bisbee. They also have some samplers of edibles which they have made with their Semillon (like a beef and noodle soup.. and a dip). I am really glad to hear that they sell their wines on the western side of the mountain (for re-supplying, you know?), although, I see on their website that they are selling the winery? That makes me rather sad somehow. I hope that what the Stears have done continues on.

You will find a selection from what I believe is every winery in Eastern Washington all at excellent prices (go ahead and compare - there is little to no mark-up in most instances versus buying direct at the winery). Overall, this is a great spot to get all the wine you might want in a discounted mixed case format from multiple wineries. If you are on a wine tour through the valley you should check it out. They also have lots of wine related gifts, foodstuffs, etc.
