At 8:15am on a Thursday morning the selection was slim. The glazed donut & apple fritter were by far the smallest of their kind I have ever seen. Great size for a kid serving but diminutive compared to other donut shops. My 2 dogs loved the cake donut they shared. There was one pot of coffee available & individual servings of Half & Half cream of which one of the packets curdled in my coffee. The Asian woman who seemed to be in charge took my cup dumped out the coffee rinsed the cup & returned it to me. While this is something I would likely do at home it seemed odd that they didn't offer me a new cup. I resumed getting my coffee, no curdling this time but there was only enough coffee to fill my cup just over half full. At this point I wasn't ready to hang around while they made another pot so I asked the Caucasian woman at the counter to top off the cup with ice. She added just enough ice so that by the time it was returned to me it was nearly all melted. I think she didn't want to dilute the coffee. I again asked them to top off the cup with ice which she did & apologized for the inconvenience. All in all it wasn't a negative experience but it falls way short of what I have experienced at other donut shops. I'm planning on moving to the area so will check out other options for donuts and not likely to return here.

I'm always excited to try local coffee shops, as i feel they have a lot more to offer in terms of…read moreatmosphere when compared to chain stores. However, I sometimes find it very difficult to get really good coffee just the way I like it. Every store has their own style, and my preferences never change, so it's often a hit-and-miss. College Station, for me, is a miss, unfortunately. I've been here a few times and not once have they given me good coffee. All I've ever asked for was a raspberry mocha, and once they made it too bitter, once they forgot the mocha, and then most recently they overloaded it with too much flavoring. In other words, not consistent at all. Unless you count consistently not good. However, the donuts are great. This would be a great hangout on Saturday mornings, eating donuts, using the free WiFi, relaxing with friends. It's close to the college so I'm sure they have a large student customer base. But if you're in the mood for a great espresso, you may have to look elsewhere. Staff seems pretty friendly, and service is never an issue. I've never had the drip coffee as I don't like that kind, but maybe it's delicious and worth a try if you are so inclined. I'm not saying I won't ever come back. If I want donuts for breakfast, I'll most definitely buy them here.

We checked out the menus and the ice cream display. Of course, we all had questions. The employees were gracious enough to let us try samples before deciding. They offer a variety of flavors. They also have a small selection of dairy free and sugar free options. This is family owned business so give them a try! They are very friendly and went above and beyond to make our outing fun. They had twenty eight flavors to choose from. They have scoops, sundaes, shakes. They also have rotating flavors and seasonal flavors as well. House made waffle cones sold me! The atmosphere feels a little less industrial than Zinc and leans more toward the inviting "coffee shop" style, yet it remains an excellent choice for remote workers who want a reliable and pleasant setting. I once again ordered a cortado, and it was once again excellent. Served in the proper short glass, it provided exactly the kind of boost I needed to dig through my mailbox and get everything prepared for the weekend. The consistency here is impressive, and the attention to detail in presentation makes the experience even better. This is a comfortable and quiet place for laptop workers, with seating that encourages focus and a background hum that never becomes distracting. There is street parking right outside, along with a free lot and deck across the street, which makes access easy and stress free. Five stars from me, and I would be glad to spend another full work day here, enjoying both the coffee and the calm environment that makes productivity feel natural. Let me start by establishing that I am a regular customer here. As a student, I love getting a…read morecoffee on the weekends, going to the back room, and settling in to get some work done. This shop hands down, is why I am on track to graduate early. This weekend, two of the staff members have started telling customers that 'oat milk does not foam'. When I was told this, I thought they meant that oat milk does not foam 'well'. I was mistaken. I received a drink which had no foam. The quality is comparable to a latte which has been microwaved for a warm-up after 40 minutes: Flat. Dull. Disappointing. What happened to the froth? The effervescence? The reason I don't make coffee myself and just add creamer is because I feel the quality of a latte or cappuccino from a coffee shop is worth more than any money I would save making a subpar coffee at home. I love this coffee shop, but I cannot be a patron of this business while this false narrative, born from necessity (milk supplier change perhaps...?) or from laziness, I do not know. I'll end with this protest: oat milk CAN foam!

The space itself is a clever reuse of a former gas station, fitting since we're just off the Mother Road, Route 66. That history adds a nice layer of character to the industrial‑but‑comfortable setting, with plenty of seating for both solo workers and small groups. I was the first customer through the door this morning and ordered a cortado. It was perfectly prepared: served in the proper short glass, accompanied by a small glass of seltzer as tradition dictates. I set up my laptop at a two‑top table right by a power outlet and settled in for two very pleasant hours. Between the thoughtful service, the quality of the coffee, and the inviting atmosphere, Zinc Coffee made working on the road feel easy. Five stars, without hesitation.
