So, of course, since the station is next door, it was also a good idea to update it, and they have certainly done a pretty awesome job there. Yeah, they certainly have put a lot of effort into making a new, and quite functional, station.

Anyway, I like railway stations and even though there is little that I can say about them, I like to at least leave some notes indicating that I have been through here. Anyway, Ringwood Station is a major interchange station at the confluence of two rail lines - to Lilydale and to Belgrave. There is also a major bus interchange here, and across the road is the Eastland shopping centre. They have actually revamped it quite recently, and at times you can even catch an express train to the city.

Toilets are cleaner than most and there is a staffed office. Limited exit and entry stalls make for slower arrival and departures at peak times. Lifts and ramps along with stairs to get up and down to the 3 platforms. One of the better stations on the network. Change here for Lilydale and Belgrave lines.

It's manned during the day, the trains actually run underground here so there are stairs and also 2 lifts to get up and down to the platforms so it is bike, pram and disabled friendly. The trains sometimes run on time, when you catch a train most times you get to where you want to go relatively on time. You always get a seat this far from town during off peak times. They have Protective Services Officers at night now and it makes you feel more comfortable with your security and safety. It is within walking distance from my home so I don't have to find a park which seems to be at over capacity. There is 2 cats espresso bar just nearby for that nice cup of coffee for your journey. It is a fairly inexpensive form of travel.

However, it is pretty close to the shops and there also happens to be a bus interchange here, which is actually quite useful. Sure, it isn't one of the fanciest stations out there, but it is practical, which I suspect was the point of it all.

Mind you, while the station doesn't look all that flash, being one of those more practical ones, the thing that I do like about it is all of the greenery that surrounds it. There is a walkway over the tracks, but it is one of those old wooden ones which means that it really isn't all that mobility friendly. The station building itself is nice, particularly due to it's old style, but functionally, not really all that much.

It would make the trek out here so much more convenient. Anyway, at least the station is still standing, and is in use, and it is a rather nice looking station as well, and you can also wander around it when the trains aren't in operation. Mind you, one interesting thing that I have noticed is that there does seem to be some rusting railway carriages here as well, which is somewhat interested.
