Trusty Yelp pointed me to a few finalists, and Aaron Kes was one of a few who was willing to take a job on Easter Sunday. Aaron graciosuly agreed to meet us in North Scottsdale, and arrived promptly. Being a former photog myself, I'm always interested to talk gear. No doubt Aaron has the newest and, in my opinion, the best gear. The Canon 5D III paired with the 50L prime. Perfect combo, and the results were awesome and tack sharp. Aaron was patient with the family, especially the two little girls who were not feeling photogenic on this day. His style is more the traditional style so if you like classic and timeless, Aaron is your man. The finished product was prompt and came out very nice. His eye and technical skills are excellent, which showed up in the tough backlit tree shot attached below. That said, I would have liked to see a few more different perspectives in his shots, especially with the little ones and with Aaron being a tall guy. Ana did an amazing job photographing our wedding at my family home while getting ready, during our ceremony at Our Lady of the Rosary, and at our reception (the Oscar Event Center). Johnny was the second of four photographers we were meeting with. After we were done, I told my then fiance, now husband, that I did not want to waste time meeting with other photographers. Planning a wedding in a city other than the one you live in can be a challenge, but we never had a problem with Johnny. Her roomate found it remarkable that Johnny's photographs captured the emotions and retold the story of the occasion, and yet she did not notice his presence during the wedding. My wife and I were looking for a photographer who could do this and also handle difficult lighting situations: our wedding site was the fifth floor of a social club looking west over the city skyline, and the time was sunset, so there would be a large amount of back lighting. With his experience with concert and art photography, Johnny seemed perfect for the job, and he was. Johnny was professional, focused, and excited about taking great photographs without forcing too many poses. He was completely unobtrusive, yet captured every moment - including some truly special ones that we didn't even realize he was there for - in a way that very naturally brought out all the emotions of our wedding day.
