I had an interesting experience at the Goshen Dollar Tree earlier today. There were a few people…read morein line ahead of me. The woman checking out paid for her couple of items and told the cashier to use the change (from a $50.) to pay for everyone in line behind her until it ran out. She turned around to us and said "Merry Christmas"! What a kind and generous thing to do!! The cashier was just tickled pink, as were the 2 people in line ahead of me who had their purchases paid for. Then, just as the nice cashier started ringing me up the manager came over & she excitedly told her what the customer had done. Then MARTHA, the manager took the remaining money and went into the office without a word. The cashier finished ringing me up and said that will be $9.63. I was a little shocked and bewildered as to why Martha the Manager had done that. The cashier apologized and told me the manager had taken the money. I paid for my purchase and went & knocked on the office door. After a few minutes Martha opened the door and asked what I needed. I told her I had kind of a complaint and wanted to speak to the store manager. She assured me she was the store manager. I told her how the woman in line had wanted her money to be used to pay for everyone in line behind her. I also told her how where I work someone came in and anonymously paid one of our tenants' rent for a month. I said what wonderful acts of kindness they were. I thought that her coming and taking the money like that ruined the spirit of the act and was not the woman's wishes. Martha the manager clearly doesn't take criticism well. She became very defensive and rude. She told me she had never dealt with anything like that and needed to call her boss to find out what to do! She said "that's my job!!". She told me she was going to do what the woman wanted. (She never offered to use it for my purchase.) I told her I thought the way she handled things was rude. She told me it was NOT rude. She was doing her job! I calmly said "I understand you don't think you were rude. But as a customer I'm telling you that I feel like the way you handled that was wrong. She said again that she wasn't rude and then with a big exaggerated fake smile spat "Merry Christmas". I said okay, you obviously don't care and that's fine and left the office and heard her make a comment to my back. I turned around and asked what she said and she slammed the office door in my face. Surely, she couldn't have known how much that money might've helped any or all of us. Bless that sweet woman with the Christmas spirit! I'm thankful for people like her.

Ypu can tell the manager and the crew really have pride in their store. I love the deals that I find at dollar general. The employees are always so kind and helpful, I am greeted as soon as I walk in and thanked when I leave. I really feel appreciated as a customer. The employees always have a smile on their faces. I love using the dollar general app to download digital coupons too.

I needed to use the restroom, walked to the back where an employee was exiting the bathroom. I was informed that customers were not allowed to use it and directed to the manager. She barely looked at me and her response was rude. I refuse to spend money where I am not valued as a person.
