I was looking for a wood stove, and happened to call up Hearth Fireplace Depot. They were…read morephenomenal to work with. Cliff, the owner, answered the phone and gave me all the time in the world, answering questions, providing insight to his craft, and ultimately setting me up with the perfect fireplace, and all the piping etc I could need. My installer was here yesterday and found nothing lacking. Cliff also offered to buy back any extra parts we might not use in the installation. It was a wonderful experience working with Hearth Fireplace Depot, and I would highly recommend them for their customer service, knowledge, and years varying quality product they have available.

I phoned this company last winter when our fireplace started going out. The advisor said we should…read morehave a total assessment and by the way they happened to have a special deal. I asked what this entailed and it turned out to be a multifaceted check of thermocouple, thermopile, various other parts and a vacuuming, glass cleaning and other cosmetic stuff. I explained that I had already done all of this myself and that hadn't solved the problem hence I needed their services. Again I was pressured into this fall inspection, again I explained that I had done it all, again he said this was the way to go. So I finally relented, the guy came, did all of those unnecessary and already -done things, agreed that everything in that area was good, and decided I needed some sort of shield which he said wasn't uncommon and normally he made one on the spot out of sheet metal which he normally carried in the van but somehow didn't have that day. So I paid the $200 for this unnecessary and repetitive procedure on the understanding that he would come by subsequently with the sheet metal and finish the job. I have not heard a word or had any contact since, so now that fireplace season is starting I have pursued this twice now and been given two runarounds, first that the manager would contact the tech, who of course I haven't heard from. And today that he would contact the owner who coincidentally is away for, another ten days. Meanwhile I have paid them for services which I had already done myself, services that when the tech finished he agreed were all OK, and am left with a promised solution that is not happening. It's quite a good idea, to encourage the customer to pay for a service the customer knows he doesn't need, solve nothing with this service and then fail to live up to the promised solution despite followup from me...certainly not them. I have never written a review in my life, but I feel that anybody contemplating dealing with this company should know how they go about things.

Got gas? Hope so …read more.. My wife and I recently moved and bought a home in McKenzie Towne. The home we bought had an undeveloped basement - our plan was to develop it right away. Our previous home had a NG (natural gas) hookup for our NG BBQ... this house did not. I have a number of friends who work in the trades industry so I asked my friend and framing contractor (Dave Bates - Timberstone Contracting) for a Gas Fitter referral. Dave introduced me to Rick Kirkland - the owner of Protech Plumbing. After a brief call with Rick and confident he understood our needs, I agreed to his his service. Rick sent one of his crew (Jesse) to see our home and estimate the job. * instal a natural gas line to the back of the home for our BBQ * instal a NG line into the kitchen for future use of a gas range * re-run a couple existing gas lines which hadn't been ran through the floor joists Jesse quoted the work needed and Rick arranged for the city gas inspector. Rick really made it easy to work with him. Jesse was great. Not only did he do great work but he also saved us a massive headache & expense. During the installation of the NG BBQ line, Jesse noticed some condensation in the home's rim-joists. After closer review and a call the to builder, we all realized the rim-joist vapour barrier had been improperly installed! Had this gone unnoticed the condensation would have inevitably caused serious damage to our home - long after the reno - and resulting in a lot of money to correct the problem. Thanks to Jesse, this giant headache was avoided. As for the work Jesse did - fantastic. Clean, on time, and professional and as per the price quoted. Lastly, a couple weeks after the install of the NG BBQ line, I noticed the smell gas around the BBQing area. I was convinced the smell was coming from the newly installed NG hookup. I called Rick to inquire... Rick sent one of his crew the next day... and we discovered the NG hookup was just fine. The gas smell was coming from a hole in the BBQ gas hose itself (I must have damaged it during the move). Oops... my fault. Rick said "no worries"... it happens. He didn't even charge me for the service call. He should have... and would have happily paid for it. I was extremely impressed with the work and professionalism of Rick and his crew. More so, I will be forever grateful for Jesse's discovery of the condensation found in the home's rim-joists as well as the money saved from it's immediate repair (covered by my home warranty). I've since recommended Rick and the services of Protech Plumbing. They've loved Rick and his services as much as we did. I continue to confidently refer the services of Rick and Protech Plumbing. If you need a plumbing or gas fitting service, do not hesitate to give Rick a call - I guarantee you, you wont regret it.

My dealing with Protech to install a gas line for my BBQ was stress-free from the initial quote to…read morethe final handshake. Their quote was very detailed, leaving no room for misunderstanding. A technican (Jesse) showed up and gave me pricing for two options (inside and outside piping). They arranged for the city inspector to come and managed to finish the whole thing in two days. Their staff were very friendly (Rick, Sandy, Jesse, Sterling). If I had a negative comment it was about the choise of how he ran the line in a certain area (under the joist instead of above it). I left it to his professional judgement and when I thought about it after the work was done, I thought he should have done it above the joist. I should mention though that when Sterling came back to grab the gauge, he voluntarily checked my BBQ. He figured out why it was wobbly and gave me a few metal sheet screws from his van so I can tighten it up! That's added value. The final price came to exactly how the quote mentioned. I highly recommend them. I will enjoy BBQing tonight!

I had been doing a lot of BBQ experimentation over the last few years, diving deeper into the southern arts, and charcoal was on the horizon anyhow. It was the logical elevation to my game. The gas-grill-self-destruction was just the motivation (or final straw) I needed! Anyhow, there are the usual places in town where people can load up on make-do grills and/or BBQ supplies (big box stores, appliance stores, department stores). And then there is this place. Barbecues Galore is my kind of toy store, showcasing everything to do with grilling / BBQ I could need. And then, sadly, a million things I WANT as soon as I lay eyes on them! This location makes use of a pretty decent sized showroom, and is well stocked with an impressive selection. But if you look at their website, there is a lot more that they carry that couldn't possibly fit in the showroom all at once. So keep that in mind. Examples of what you will find here are: -- Quality gas grills of various sizes / price ranges -- Commercial "catering" style grills -- Charcoal grills and smokers -- Wood fired pizza ovens -- Wood and gas firepits -- Patio heaters and furniture -- Outdoor "coolers" elevated on wheels (so you don't need to stoop to snag your beer out of ice) -- Tons of accessories, like rib racks, and stainless skewers -- Great selection of cookbooks -- Lots of unique sauces and rubs Etc!! I actually find the culture of this company to be pretty good natured, and representative of what back yard fun is all about. It spills over to some humor on their website, and especially in their monthly newsletter. (BTW: the newsletter is worth subscribing to, for the events and recipes it passes along). My experience with Barbecues Galore has been positive, having no issues with my purchases thus far. So as of now, I have not needed to test their policies around returns/repairs/replacements. I am scoring on what I know, and have seen -- and that has been no cause for a deduction.
