I researched the issue on the web as I often do and found the website of Fagan Audiology: https://www.faganhearing.com/. I was impressed by the material on the website. This August (2018) I called them and described my problem. I was told the cost for ear wax removal and a hearing test would be $100. According to my research, this was a price within the normal range for these services. I made an appointment for 08/27/18. I arrived early and so had time to read some of the interesting material in the waiting room. Among other things, I learned that there's a connection between hearing loss and dementia; I hadn't known that. When it was time for my appointment, Dr. Derina Boothroyd, examined my ears and confirmed wax blockage in both ears. She tried to take the wax out with a metal curette, but that caused me some discomfort so we went with option #2: flushing the wax out with a water-pik-like device. Kathleen, the friendly front desk person, assisted. It was very quick and painless. Afterwards Dr. Boothroyd had me dry my ears with a princess-telephone-shaped ear blow dryer. That was a quick process too. Next, Dr. Boothroyd had me sit in what looked like an old fashioned bank vault but was, when the door was shut, a sealed room to test hearing. This was a computerized test. I put on a headset so I only would hear the sounds coming from the machine. I held a clicker in my hand and clicked every time I heard a sound, even if it was faint. I was a little nervous, particularly after what I read in the waiting room. At the conclusion of the test, Dr. Boothroyd pronounced my hearing "normal." I was very relieved and happy. The cost was exactly as agreed on: $100. I think the whole visit took about a half hour. This is my kind of medical visit experience: short, successful, and a modest cost. As a general note, I'd like to say: good hearing is so important. When the wax blockage was at its worst, I was concerned about driving safely because the auditory source of feedback was diminished. Also, I love music, so it was such a pleasure to fully hear my CD collection and download collection again. If you have concerns about your hearing, Fagan Audiology might be a good place for you to find out exactly what's going on and what your options are.

I was able to get an appointment quickly and was seen on time. Dr Fagan was kind, thorough, and…read moreused some pretty high tech tools to assess my hearing. I was impressed and relieved to get a good report that will serve as a baseline for future evaluations.

I was surprised to see two one star reviews for this office. I've had great luck there and even…read morechanged providers to purchase my last hearing aids. My last set needed work done on them, and this office was listed as an authorized repair service, which is why I contacted them. Jon repaired them several times at no charge even though I bought them somewhere else. When one of them stopped working permanently he gave me a new hearing test and suggested a different brand. At no time did I feel pressured to buy them. I wish they'd been less expensive, but high end hearing aids cost a lot of money, and it's worth it to me since I couldn't do my job without them. The new ones work much better than the older ones, and I've been back several times for adjustments, cleaning, and new parts. I've been very happy with them. They also provide batteries for the life of the aids, which is a nice perk.

I went here because they carried the brand of aids that I had purchased in Florida. Before they…read morecould adjust them, they said I needed a full test. After that, they adjusted them and actually made them WORSE... all the time really pushing me to buy a very expensive set of new ones. LOTS of high pressure sales tactics like "oh, you are still SOooo young, you need high end aids because you must have an important job!" As I left, I asked for new "domes" for my aids. The guy said, "these are the last two I have for your hearing aids because they are so old. I don't think I'll be able to get any more..." (more pressure). My aids are about 5 years old and use absolutely standard and easily available domes. DO NOT GO HERE!!! There are much better options with much less pressure.

I had an appointment for a hearing test for my two children. One appointment was at 3:40 and the other 4pm. We arrived at the office at 3:35pm. At 4:05pm, neither of my children had been seen, I asked the receptionist what was going on and she just said "Oh, he's running a little behind." --- This should've been my warning to run because its the reason we originally stopped going to his office. I said okay, I will give it 10 more minutes. 5 minutes later he came and got my Daughter since my son was in the bathroom, I mentioned the long wait times and he just said "Sorry I was caught up." Okay. He asked why she was there and I said it was because she needed a hearing test... "Well that won't be happening here today. We don't even have an audiologist on. All the ladies up front said was that she was here for speech problems?" At this point I was pretty ugly. I told the receptionist when I called last week I needed my kids scheduled for hearing tests. SPECIFICALLY SAID HEARING TESTS. They said he was available Monday for hearing tests and that was what was scheduled. So basically for my daughter the appt was a complete waste. There was no need for us to drive 25 minutes. wait over 30 then be told she couldn't even be seen for what she was scheduled for. Next was my son's turn. Another hearing test, "Well he might be old enough for the one we have so lets try it." Fine. At least one of kids will get what they needed done... NOPE wrong again. He hooked him up to a machine(stuff on his head and ears) and had him sitting in a room ALONE (He's 8.) for almost thirty minutes. I finally was like where is my son? and found him and asked if he was almost finished "The machine won't let me finish!" So then the doctor came in and goes "Well we will just take the results we got and see what they say." THE MACHINE WASN'T EVEN TAKING THE TEST. He's like "well they both need to go to NorthEast for hearing tests. We didn't get any results." Basically I spent almost 2 hours in this office to have absolutely NOTHING done for my kids. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR TIME WASTED TIME AND TIME AGAIN.
