This is my 5th year using Gran Oaks Dental and it's my 3rd year at the SE 17th St. location in…read moreOcala using Dr. Jaclyne Herrera.I have found that Dr. Herrera and her staff to be completely committed towards helping their patients feel comfortable and confident in the care that they are receiving and that whenever they are in need of assistance with their care they are able to provide the knowledge and support needed so that you are understanding of what services you need and the quality of care to expect. Dr. Herrera goes above and beyond her duties to reassure and provide the best services available to her patients. The staff in the office front and back I have found to be really helpful and extremely kind and caring. Being a patient of Dr. Herrera's has made going to the dentist a positive experience! Wheelchair accessible. There is plenty of parking. Walk in and make yourself a up of coffee. They had 2 girls that were doing their thing. One was there to take X-rays the other information. I was wowed by the hand held xray unit, but I guess technology has advanced, so it was cool. I told the woman that i had a real fear of dentists, and she ran with that. I was talked to like a child, and when I left I felt like Id been condescended to. It wasn't comforting. The Doctor came in and told me ALL the if the work they need to do, including a bridge, but werent concerned with the reason I was there. The office is amazing, but I dislike being talked down to and sold on procedures i may or may not need. So I won't be going back.

Where do I begin... let me start with this, if I could have given 0 stars I would have. Our…read morefirst/last visit there was horrible for both my daughter as well as myself. First off I was not allowed in the back while she had an exam. I can understand an office doing that for every visit after the first... but NOT prior too. She doesn't know them, trust them, want to be around them without her mother. Second, I never met the dentist... EVER! I spoke with an assistant before my daughter went back and after... that's the only staff member I met other than a receptionist. If my daughter is going to be sedated (whether completely under or mild) I want to be able to put a face with a name. Third, it took an hour and a half to clean her teeth, have a few x-rays, and an exam by the dentist. Last but not least my daughter wet her pants. She's 2. The assistant informed me of the incident and said "she didn't even tell us she had to go"..... -.-..... really? SHE'S 2! 'Nough said. I posted this on another website and I will continue to do so on every review site I can.

Do not use Michael Tarver. I would give them negative stars if I could. They don't even deserve 1…read morestar! My children were medicaid patients of his. That guy REFUSED to allow me back with 3 of my minor daughters that were under 12 at the time. He said that children behave better without their parents. Which for my kids is not true. They pleaded for me to go back with with them but he absolutely refused. The incident happened a few weeks before he overdosed the child. My two youngest were so heavily sedated that my oldest daughter and I had to each carry them out to the car. They slept the whole ride home. They couldn't even eat dinner that night and went straight to bed until the next morning. This was only for a few fillings. The third child needed an adult tooth pulled, and he told me just to pull it that I would have to pay $400.00. I refused because as a single mom on Medicaid I didn't have that kind of money. I also had 2 teeth pulled for $400.00. Michael Tarver told me that I was more than welcome to take her where I had my tooth pulled, but likely they would overdose her on pain meds. I find this highly ironic since he as done this more than once. He used SCARETATICS on a single mom that is living paycheck to paycheck. I threw a fit when they quoted me for the extraction, so HE came out to talk to me personally. I remember his face and his condescending demeanor. He is a truly horrible human. I can't believe they are still allowing this man to practice dentistry. His license should be revoked.

The dentist that examined me was not the name on the door with the glowing reviews. In the paperwork they want you to sign away your 7th amendment right to a jury trial which is a HUGE red flag. (PS-They can't, but their lawyers try and there must be a reason) Not all the equipment works, there are no spit sinks or mounted radiatrons for Xrays...all signs of penny-pinching management. The chairs are cheap and uncomfortable. Then the pitch went to me needing an expensive "super cleaning" first when I had more pressing issues and they had records from my previous provider showing I had just had a cleaning in February. Then they added something called abfractions into my treatment plan. Filling abfractions is controversial and my 2 previous, reputable dentists said that they wouldn't fill those unless they bothered me. They don't ever bother me because at the advice of those dentists I simply use Sensodyne or another anti-sensitivity toothpaste. So as things went down, they counted 7 new cavities in just under 4 months. One was for real, 6 were abfractions. If you check Google reviews they have a lot of great reviews, but, the crowd here is elderly and has probably experienced a lot of other less-than-stellar dentists, so I'm not confident reviews are everything. Lastly, the excellently reviewed resident dentist, Amy, was not available and I didn't want to go forward with someone else as I could not find any background on the dentist that was subbing that day. Again, I liked the personnel. The office manager, Tammy, is very nice and accommodating and the hygienist is a very nice fellow BUT cheap chairs, cheap equipment, and questionable legal maneuvers make me wonder if their anesthetic, needles, and drills are also cheap.
