The ladies at the front desk are always welcoming and friendly, I'm always able to get in when needed, even appointments before and after work so I don't need to take half the day off. I have been seeing Dr. Paape for years and will not go anywhere else. I was experiencing excruciating neck and upper back pain. He has helped me through this with a treatment plan that really worked. This last year of seeing him has been pain free and I just go in monthly for maintenance check and the adjustment takes care of things before it gets bad again. The most I've experienced now is a little tightness and it is taken care of after my visit. I noticed the other reviews mentioned that they don't adjust on the first visit because they want to get more money from you. That is ridiculous. Easy scheduling for appointments. All staff I have interacted with are very friendly. Dr. Gunderson has been a big help with my headache problems. Due to a previous job at my current employer, I would end up needing an adjustment weekly. I am now down to 1x a month for a "maintenance" visit. read more

It's a very nice office, nicely set up and decorated. The front desk staff is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. I've never had to wait long. I usually don't sit there for more than a couple minutes, if at all. They do a great job of staying on track. I visit Dr. Gunderson when I go. I've been going for a few years, off and on, when I have issues. I always feel great when I leave. He'll listen to your concerns and make adjustments according to what might be bothering you that day. Setting up future appts is extremely easy. Make sure you double check your insurance coverage and don't just take their word for it. They will talk you into extra treatments and extra services that your insurance may not cover, so just make sure you confirm insurance coverage so you don't get stuck with a huge bill. read more

Simply one of the most effective and supportive medical practices - of all kinds - that I've ever experienced. In town on business, an acute neck and upper shoulder injury, flared up suddenly, essentially disabling me with pain and highly restricted range of motion. Thanks to a friend's referral, Dr. Paape eliminated the pain and restored my range to pre-injury conditions in just a few visits. The entire staff is great, and the integrated regimen of chiropractic adjustment, physical therapy and acupuncture, directed by a well-trained team of professionals provides virtual 'one stop shopping'. Our family has been going to Healing Arts for over 15 years. We have always had a positive experience and enjoy the friendly staff.

I had agonizing back pain and the straightest I could stand was about 45 degrees. I tried Sanford chiropractic, in case I needed an MRI, but the earliest I could get an appointment was three weeks out. Next on my list was Healing Arts, and they said they could see me if I could get there in an hour and a half. The 1st thing Dr. Gunderson did was x ray my back and make an appointment for the next day. I've read other reviewers complaining about this, but not me. I would just as soon they knew what they were dealing with before any adjustments were made. The next day Dr. Gunderson showed me the results of the x rays. My lower back was curved to one side. I don't mind saying, when I saw them I was thinking surgery and steel rods. It took time, but I can now stand straight and even bend backwards. I feel better than I have in years. None of the procedures were at all painful. I'm completely satisfied and pain free. I recommend Healing Arts to everyone. read more

I wanted to know if I would be able to have x-rays taken at the end of care to compare beginning and end differences and I was told there wouldn't be differences, if so, it would be minimal differences. I do not like that answer! There should be changes. Next when I called to cancel ALL my upcoming appointments, I was told that they could cancel the weeks but not all of them. I had to speak with the doctor. I said well I'm not coming back in, you might as well cancell them ALL! Dr. Gunderson then called and left a voicemail asking me to call back letting them know what they could do to improve their practice because I was clearly not happy. I then received e-mails later stating you have missed your appointment. Please call us to reschedule! I cancelled them! ALL! Remember?! I felt worse, every time I left there, one time having an instant headache before even getting to my car! I even told him, that I was hurting and he said to me when I said I thought you said this is a light treatment! Raised prices without any notification what so ever. Last seven appointments, the doctors were late. Always more than 10 minutes. Last appointment Dr. Schwinghammer was 30 minutes late! It was 9:00 a.m.! When he did finally show up, he never said one thing about it. Not even an apology. After dealing with his stuck up attitude and never being on time, I will never go back. At first, they present themselves well, but then they go into details. The office is well decorated and they talk about wanting to treat each patient as an individual. Dr. Paape told me that they don't do an adjustment on the first day, which I felt should have been disclosed when I made the appointment. Most chiropractors do their tests and ask questions, then do an adjustment at the first appointment. If Healing Arts prides themselves on being different, they should say so to help the patients prepare for lack of an adjustment. My back was not in a good place when I went in, that's why I wanted to see a chiropractor. If they had told me in advance that they do tests the first day, but no adjustment, I could have planned for the next appointment and/or gone to another chiropractor or massage therapist in the meantime. I would have also liked to plan financially for the cost of the extra visit needed to get my adjustment. When I was upset about this and asked that they tell future new patients this so no one else gets surprised like I was, I felt like Dr. Paape didn't take my concern seriously, and he said that most patients are fine with it. I also was irritated that they texted me without my permission when I didn't even say my phone number was a cell phone. Dr. Paape said most patients were fine with this as well. So much for each patient being an individual. I don't think much of a business that doesn't ask patients before doing things like these. I felt like they didn't respect my time by having me go in before they would tell me such an important detail like my back would not be taken care of the first day. When I said so, Dr. Paape responded by saying that I wasn't respecting his time, and they were very busy. They said that they would disclose the costs of tests and treatments before doing anything, but I cannot verify this as I decided not to proceed with this office. I am also dubious about whether they would follow through on their promise to notify me of costs since they didn't tell me I would need two appointments, and thus two copays, before getting an adjustment. I feel like they should allow more time for the first visit because a half hour is not a lot of time to get things done. It didn't allow for questions, and it wasn't enough time to convince me that I should go to this chiropractic office. They claim they want to help your overall health and reduce pain long term and not just do a quick fix. I just hope you read lots of reviews and ask a lot of questions before going to this or any chiropractor, because surprises like mine are ten times worse when you have back or neck pain. read more

I have never left an appointment more irritated and ripped off. The first appointment I watched a video, did some quick testing for my neck symptoms- made it sound like it was untouchable without doing xrays first- did that ( I was expecting to go over these right away since they were done right there- and do an adjustment based of that) NOPE! Nothing . No adjustment .. left there in pain 8/10 same as I walked in. Made a follow up appointment as recommended - to go over xrays and do an adjustment. Definitely not worth the time or money.. the Dr. re stated everything I watched in the video on Day 1 .. then explained my xrays in a dumbing down manner for 20 minutes (waste of time) and then did two neck cracks and upper back. Literally took less than 2 minutes - and then set me up with a PLAN - to get me to come back 3 x a week for 3 weeks then 2 then every week- OHHH and also the want you to come in for a class to go over how to get the best out of your chiro care.. I don't need a class- or 6 week plan- I need an acute adjustment .They are SALES men at this place . I am canceling all Planned appointments and going else where. I am annoyed at Chiro care after this. If Dr.Hager at Essentia was open after hours I would love to continue with him. So if your looking for a hands on no bull chiro . I've been seeing Dr. Paape for 8 years now, and as long as I live in Fargo I will continue to see him. He listens, he's honest, and genuinely wants you to feel better and not try to get more visits out of you. I have a severe back problem that can't be fixed by surgery.
