The muscles in the leg atrophied significantly. I am 66 so this was going to be a difficult process starting with a knee splint and crutches. A friend recommended SEMI for the rehab. I met Melanie Gordon and she put together a program to get me going again. Amazingly, by mid-November the knee was basically back to its old flexibility and almost back to its full strength. It is such a relief for an active senior! Melanie regularly reviewed my progress, manipulated the knee and continually changed the exercise program based on my progress but also listening to my concerns. And a great cheerleader for those times when you feel like you are not progressing as fast as you would hope. I couldn't be more pleased. I highly recommend SEMI and Melanie for any physical rehab program.

In April of this year, I felt my ankle twist while standing still and continued to go to gym and hobble. A good friend of mine saw my ankle and said, You need to see Dr Stoddard at Semi I called and spoke to Regina that night and she made an appointment for me to see Dr Stoddard..... first MRI, then back to see him, talk of fracture, xrays to confirm and I was in an air cast. I was referred to Melanie Gordon and started active physio. On June 29 I got my cast. As the summer progressed, I was able to see results. Got the cast off on November 7, allowed to walk more, up to 20,000 steps (before I was doing 35,000) and with further physio, I will continue to improve. I owe a lot to Dr Stoddard, Melanie Gordon, the wonderful front desk staff, Regina, Roxanne and Courtney who made ever visit wonderful. Thank you! I tell everyone who has ever been hurt to call! And then, work through resolving it. He also gave me some exercises to strengthen my leg muscles. I rate him 4/5. The physical facility is another story. While I was lying face down on the table last week, I saw dust balls and hair on the floor. Obviously the floor hasn't been vacuumed for awhile. I mentioned it to Endri and he wiped the floor and the bed post with a damp cloth and the white cloth turned black! The change room is very very small, not much bigger than a toilet stall and it is dirty ( see photos attached). It has 4 small lockers but 3 of the lockers' locking mechanism are broken so you cannot lock it. The coat hook behind the door has been broken for more than a year. There is an abandoned dirty shirt in the change room for over a year. I finally complained to the front desk manager last month but nothing has changed. I asked her today ,why nothing has been done for over a month? She replied that it is beyond her control because the Owner of the facility did nothing to address my concerns. I'm very concerned with the cleanliness of this facility and the attitude of the Owner and Management!

Their phone and office reception is super helpful and easy to communicate with. Intake is straight forward and the booking website is easy. YMMV, my physio service provider was very helpful and listened to all my concerns as well as made tailored rehab workouts available via their preferred app provider - PhysiApp. They also have a shared floor washroom where you can change before/after your appointment. Will be trying out their out services as needed. But so far it has been good progress at once every 4 weeks.

Very knowledgeable and attentive - she hit all my target complaint areas and loosened my knots which put me an intense ZzzZz mode (I may have snored). She gave me some tips on stretches and recommended maintenance sessions in 4-6 weeks. Best part is that there wasn't a lot of oil used, just enough for treatment so I could get dressed and not feel weird for the rest of the day if you are headed back to the office! The office - make no mistake that this is a treatment facility and not a spa so yes chatter could be heard while I was getting my massage so you should be aware of this. Form filing, payment etc is SO efficient and they are on top of it. Direct billing is possible and where not, they advise you. Will be back!

Dinah, Thank you for your response…read more I did get a reply on July 20th to my July 10th email. Both responses, in my opinion, continue to disregard my experience. No personal call to set up an appointment. No acknowledging my experience. Just covering your perspective When you take any kind of customer service course or even personal development, it talks about the stuff when things don't go right where you get the nuggets. I offered you a gift. Really, it wasn't until I was talking to a few of my older neighbours that I found that was a trend. We can all have bad days. Sad thing, I went out of my way to come back to Pivot because of my experience in the past. So even as a repeat customer, I felt confident that your people would help me figure out what was happening as my knee didn't feel like other insignificant injuries. I trusted you. When I tell you your Dr nor your physio DID NOT tell me to set another appointment, nor did your front desk staff when they took my payment, your response is to tell me I am wrong. And to find out if there is any sign of arthritis, something volunteered by your person, I need to pay you all more money to find that out when there is nothing here showing me that you care one iota about my experience at all. Actions speak louder than words. I really hope you use this as a training tool. I can tell you that this experience had me quite down at the thought of not being able to be physically active, a Grief inducing event. Thankfully I have others who helped me. PS, I said nothing about how hard you have to work to get where you are. Not once did I mention the names of your people so there is respect I do understand hard work and commitment so the fact that you felt it necessary to tell me all about you and all of your accomplishments speaks volumes.

I was really happy with their honesty and how they work with their clients. If I was looking for a new physiotherapist, I would definitely consider coming here. Hopefully they will be able to help you with whatever pain/injuries you may be experiencing.

The Beaches Athletes Care location always delivers spot-on diagnoses, strengthening exercises you can (and must) do at home, and in-clinic treatment that sets you firmly on your healing journey. They have brought me back to full strength for my knees, a pulled calf muscle, a rotator cuff injury, hamstring strain, and a turned ankle. The only thing they haven't healed is my caustic wit (untreatable). Every therapist I've had there was rock solid, Carly being the most recent. Online booking system is very convenient. I did some research and discovered Synergy Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and liked that it was near the subway and that people in the neighbourhood recommended it so highly. I showed up in a medical boot with laryngitis (which I got the day before, damn it) so I wrote up all the details so my physiotherapist Jesse Awenus could get a good take on my particular situation since I literally could not speak for myself. I will admit that when I showed up that it was not just my ankle and throat that were broken. I hated walking in there so 100% vulnerable but it had been three weeks since I hurt my foot and it was no longer improving at all. As someone with fibromyalgia, any little injury can mean long term problems so I was just heartbroken. Jesse took my situation very seriously and was compassionate but tough in his belief that I can heal. His treatment was excellent and the exercises I went home with for homework were very effective. I went from being scared to do anything to make the situation worse to confidently working through the discomfort to build strength. He is clearly a highly trained healer that took my sorry grumpy pants ass and made me believe I could walk again. The photo with me wearing the black shoes was taken the first day I went for a walk without the boot, just a couple of weeks after treatment. I even felt comfortable enough for him to do manual manipulation which ended up realigning my foot dramatically. If I could afford to keep going every week, I would. Jesse did his best with the time and budget I had to get me walking again which I am! I even went on the subway yesterday for the first time. I have been to a lot of physiotherapist. I have never had a more positive experience. The space is bright, the people are friendly and the treatment is beyond impeccable. My only complaint is having to climb those stairs to get to Jesse's office but because the work he did was so impressive I will not hold that against the clinic. That said, there do seem to be offices on the main floor so please make sure that if you have severe mobility issues to call ahead to make sure the stairs will not be an issue. Thanks to Synergy Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation I can now get back to my foodie reviews! For the first time in a long time I have hope in my ability to heal. After being on an 18-year healing journey since my fibro diagnosis, that is, quite frankly, a miracle. ~ Suzie The Foodie

I really loved that my physio took the time to send me an email link with a customized home exercise program videos that I could easily follow on my own. All in all the clinic experience has been the best I have experienced. One more great thing is that the clinic is within a 2 minute walk of the Woodbine subway station and is right on Danforth.
