This is gonna be a ride. I came a month ago for just a haircut, as my hair had already been dyed…read morerecently, and I showed her pics then of the style and color I like. Fast forward to now, I show up for my appt, and we talk about the color I want. I'm 38, and I've been dying my hair red since I was 13, and this particular shade since I was 23, so I have a whole speech for stylists. NO orange or coppery under tones, the fade out looks awful on me. I need a punky raspberry red, bright, and something that'll fade to cooler tones, more pinky/purply undertones. This was all discussed. I'll admit fault for one part - she didn't ask to see the pics I had again, and I didn't offer to show them, assuming she remembered them and the color as it had been last time I came in. I'd think if there were any confusion, the stylist should ask to see pics, but ultimately, I should have made her look at them and guarantee me she could provide that color. My bad. The dye sets, we rinse off, and the minute I sat back down, I knew the color was off. She asked what I thought and I said something like "... it looks kinda coppery auburn." She made a face, so I added "but maybe I just need to see it dry." So she proceeds to start drying it, and I can immediately tell it's wrong. She asks again what I think, so I said "I'm sorry, it looks coppery to me." And that's pretty much when things kicked off. I was informed it was most certainly NOT copper, and definitely NOT auburn, auburn has BLUE in it, she matched the roots to my ends, see, they look almost the same! See her roots? THAT'S copper! I just needed to go outside and see my hair in the sunlight, it was NOT auburn, NOT coppery, NOT orangey! I started to get upset because no one wants to be chastised as they're getting a blow out, so I told her I was just very sensitive about my hair, to which I was told maybe I wanted a fashion red, I should've said so, she'd have to bleach my roots if I wanted that. So that's when I told her I just wanted to go home. But when I said I didn't think I should have to pay for a color I didn't want, I was again lambasted and informed she HAS to charge me and I HAVE to pay because she is an independent business!!!! I finally paid just to get out of there, and while the card was processing, I told her that I wasn't saying the color was bad, it just wasn't what I wanted, and if she hadn't been able to give me my color, I wish she would've told me, because I still would've gotten other work done, just skipped the red for now. So I was told that moving forward at another salon, I should communicate better and show more pictures of what I want - I'm attaching a screenshot of the folder of pics I had shown her (pics at the bottom are for style, top are my previous red dye jobs). The attitude I was given was such a shock and 180 from the person I had dealt with before - that was my real problem and ultimately my reason for leaving with a head of wet hair. I would also like to add that AGAIN, I have been doing this for LITERAL YEARS. I've had my hair dyed this color in countries where I couldn't even speak the language. I don't understand what was so difficult, or why just saying "oh, I guess we misunderstood each other, what can we do to fix this OR to make you feel more comfortable" was so hard - why was immediately going to condescension and attitude the go-to? If someone was on the verge of tears in front of me over something I did in my business, I certainly wouldn't go that route.

Queen of color!! This is an update to my previous review. I'm always amazed at how well Heather can…read morematch my color to any picture I give her. I appreciate that she is always honest with me about what she can and can't pull off, and what will look good with my skin tone. She does amazing natural tones and when I want she can deliver a punch with awesome fashion tones. I always love my color and I always get compliments. I also know if I ever needed an adjustment or wasn't happy her door would be open to me with no judgement. She is just a wonderful, fun stylist and I will keep coming back.

I was visiting a friend in town and Grace gave me an excellent cut! I would highly recommend going…read moreto her for a haircut. Great to talk to and very knowledgeable about products and recommendations.

I had an appointment at Ahead of Style Salon with Mia Haggard and unfortunately I cannot recommend…read moreher services. I have medium to dark brown hair and booked a balayage. I clearly explained what I was looking for and showed a video reference of someone with very similar hair color whose result was the goal--nothing extreme, just somewhere in that realm. I said that is where I want to lean into. I was also upfront that the only color on my hair was a demi-permanent service done over four months prior. As soon as my hair was blow-dried after shampooing, I could tell the result was not right. Even without my glasses, it was obvious. The final result was not a balayage at all, but a full head of very chunky VERY uneven yellow-to-orange highlights that look more like early-2000s foils than a modern, blended balayage. No toner was used. I was told a gloss was preferred instead, but the color clearly needed toning at minimum. The warmth was not controlled, and the highlights are extremely brassy and uneven. Mia was kind and pleasant, but the skills listed do not match the outcome I experienced. I left feeling upset and sick over the amount of money I paid, knowing immediately that this will require an expensive correction elsewhere. When I got home and really saw my hair in proper lighting, I cried. I know that I would never ask for a correction from the same stylist if this is how I left the salon. Never gonna happen. I've had this exact service done before--successfully--including at this same salon by another stylist, and on hair that also had a prior demi. This result was entirely avoidable. I'm genuinely sad to leave a negative review, but I don't want anyone else to go through the stress, expense, and emotional impact of having their hair turn out this way.
