I requested two new blade keys cut for my Range Rover from the original factory key, and I was…read morereferred to ARA Locksmith by a competing locksmith who was unable to do the work. Dominic of ARA kicked ass. On one of the keys, the machine made an error in the tracing and overcut one of the key blanks. Dominic was quickly able to replace the key with another blank *in the factory housing* and redo the cut, creating a working key and avoiding needing a costly replacement. He was quickly able to figure out where the machine went wrong and did a manual cut the second time around and got it spot-on. Pricing was VERY reasonable and the job was done while I watched. Definitely worth using Dominic at ARA for car key cutting, even for modern automotive keys.

I then agreed to schedule an appointment for the locksmith to come out and fix the problem at that price. They ended up being over 3 hours late to arrive and then tried to charge me $150 (no where near the quoted price) in the end. I asked the locksmith to wait while I called the main office to discuss why I was being charged almost $100 more than originally quoted and was met with them denying that they quoted me that price. I reminded them that they were more than three hours late (my time is worth something), and that their response to my several calls to inquire about their whereabouts has been less than stellar. The man on the phone told me he would call the locksmith immediately to see what could be done about the price; apparently his version of "immediately" is about 15 minutes later. The locksmith himself was great and ended up agreeing to a much more reasonable charge before he even received the phone call from Calgary Locksmith office to discuss the charges. Needless to say I will be contacting the contracted locksmith directly next time and will be skipping this dispatch service all together. The service is beyond brutal, and the consumer should be warned that they take advantage of the customer.

I called and the owner was very professional in taking the call. He was thorough in asking questions so that he could arrive prepared. This contrasts to some companies that ask for nothing more than an address and name. Later, I found out that he was actually out of the country on vacation when he took my call, yet he still took it and treated me with the utmost professionalism. He arrived exactly at the time he said he would. He took out the locks and let me know it would be about 30-45 minutes of him working in his truck before coming back. He returned exactly in his estimated time. One of my doors had its latch and plate poorly installed. The locksmith corrected that for me. He warned it would cause some shavings on the floor, yet he picked up all the shavings as he worked so the floor was tidy by the time he left. He was very courteous, respectful, professional, and knowledgeable. He also gave me some tips on managing lock-out scenarios after I shared with him a story of a past experience being locked out due to a broken key. He checked that all the keys he made worked for the locks. Excellent service all-around. I do need to admit that I was chatting with the locksmith the entire time and I think I was a distraction because there was one lock that, after installing, he didn't check that it worked properly, and we were chatting quite a bit when he was working on that particular lock. Right as he was leaving, I locked and unlocked all the new installations for my own quality check and realized this one lock that he hadn't validated wasn't working properly. I ran back to the front door and called him back in before he left, and he came in and fixed it quickly.
