Liege is the type of city that you have to know the special places to go because they won't pop out in front of you. It was by mere luck that we ran across this lovely bakery and dessert lounge. We walked into Patisserie Jean Pierre and completely fell in love with the place. I felt like I was in wonderland. It's nothing but assorted pastries, chocolates, and plenty of other sweets to get lost in for the moment. We ordered hot chocolate, along with pies, pies and pies. The hot chocolate and desserts was magnificent!

It MUST be said: this is my favorite place I've been in years! Dare I say it's worth making a trip just to Belgium or Liège for this opportunity alone... allow me to explain Throughout my visit in Belgium I was on a quest for the best waffle. When I arrived on Monday and it was closed one might think that I would be disappointed, but I was all the more encouraged to see that the place was closed only for its employees to be hard at work preparing for their beloved customers the following days. This particular business has three different establishments: 1- A classic waffle shop, 2- A pastry and waffle shop 3- A fry shop On all three accounts this will be the best treats that I have had in a long time, but what makes it even more special are the people and the service. One family owns all of these, and they made me fall in love with Belgians! They generously explained everything from the Classic Liege waffle, the speculoos cookies, cone of fries etc. I can't wait wait to come back for more. :)

Also we expected freshly made waffles in addition to the stuffed ones ( taste of the stuffed one was decent). My best advice: go across the street, it looks less chic but has a lot more local customers and seems to be more accepting of people in general.

They are always adding new drink options and testing out new foods all the time! I highly recommend the Canadian Club for breakfast or if you come in for lunch get the Williamsburg or ask for the lunch special! From a drink standpoint you can't go wrong with the coffee staples from a cappuccino to a latte or a mochaccino. But if you want to branch out for the special drinks which are ever changing and you can find the current list of specials on the mini-black chalkboards located on the counter. And any drink you order you can make your own with the numerous syrups they have from almond flavor to speculoos flavor. If you are one person or a big group come check this place out!
