This slum of an apartment management company does not care about its residents, only to make a quick buck. I moved into a filthy apartment, and once I got time between moving in, getting to know the area and find work, then working 10 hour overnight shifts, I start doing some deep cleaning before I finally purchased furniture other than a boxed bed (brand new) that I brought here to Wilmington with me.
During this cleaning, I found out how nasty this place was. Brown gunk was coming out of the cracks of the shower, above the cabinets were caked with grease and dirt, and baseboards were dirty and filthy throughout the apartment. There are areas I cannot reach such as a space above the bathroom door in the loft that you can visually see dust accumulation. Upon removing some floating shelving units, I stumbled upon a COCKROACH NEST and plant material left from previous tenants. I have only been living here since November.
I discovered the filth and cockroaches not long after and I have had no time to cook nor did I have plants or furniture/dishes/etc until after the holidays. I wrote on the form you fill out I when you move in that the place was a little dirty but I did not expect this. I've made numerous complaints and maintenance requests that have gone ignored and maintenance requests marked completed when nobody has been to my apartment. I didn't have pest control come to my apartment until weeks after my initial complaint.
The grounds are atrocious and the stairwells leading to the apartments were filled with trash, taking at least 4 complaints before I spoke to someone on the phone and they sent someone to clean food containers and used band aids that I refused to touch and carried my dogs downstairs so they don't touch it for 3 months. Nobody picks up after their animals and there's litter all over the place around what seems to be everywhere but the leasing office...hmmm.
I receive almost no emails in response or four word replies such as "maintenance will be there" or "we're sending pest control". They have not offered even a simple apology and I've been told "cockroaches are common, it's not a big deal to see a bug or two" (try dozens) and when making a complaint over the phone about the cleanliness in general, I was told "they should have cleaned it before you moved in"...obviously not, otherwise I wouldn't be having this phone conversation or finding grease streaks and caked on dirt and cockroaches everywhere.
My complaints go unresolved about basic human living conditions while in the meantime, I receive a noise complaint on a Monday morning for having my long distance boyfriend over for the first time in two months and us not going to bed right away at midnight, if you catch my drift. They were quick to issue that right away in the morning.
Living here has been a nightmare and besides sending pest control a couple of times, the leasing staff is not doing a thing to remedy this situation. I would have been better taken care of with customer service and probably would have saved money living in a hotel room for months...the size of these apartments (not that it matters) are basically a hotel room.
I sweep and mop twice a week, if not more because I have dogs, I put their food and water up at night, I keep my garbage outside, I put away dishes and keep the sink and counters clean daily. I scrubbed this place top to bottom, in and out of cabinets, above cabinets and shelves, baseboards, etc. as the cleaning people "were supposed to have done before I moved in" I cleaned up cockroach nests ALONE prior to pest control and after pest control came and went, I was told I would get a clean out of my apartment, but that never happened. I had to push appliances back into place and clean behind and under them. anyway.
I have not felt safe or clean or comfortable here for even a night and because this company wants nothing to do with taking any kind of accountability or providing customer service to their tenants (they did a great job calling me every single day to sell this hell-hole prior to me signing my lease, I'll tell you!) I have to continue to feel unsafe, unclean, and uncomfortable until I complete a years lease and throw all of my (by then) cockroach infested belongings away or break my lease and face legal consequences despite me doing EVERYTHING I can on my part to help them help me.
Bottom line. DONT MOVE IN HERE. If you are here, GET OUT OF HERE IF YOU CAN. I've waited as long as I can for them to help me before making public complaints because this is utterly embarrassing and it's not even my fault! read more
