So, you are thinking about moving into the City Block Apartments. Let's go over the pros and cons.
Pros-Great location to the 4th Street Brewery's and the Downtown nightlife and is dog friendly.
Cons-Lack of amenities, no pool, no dog run, limited access to the coffee in the Cyber Café. The weight room is nothing more than a glorified home-gym, and one of the tread mills had been out of service since Covid.
The residents of City Block have a good time on the weekends making a mess of the common areas, leaving it for the employees to clean up. Whether it be a dog accident or human accident, it can be quite nasty. Another nasty aspect is when the sewer line backs up on the ground floor and floods the mailroom, main entrance and basement entrance. Nothing like walking through raw sewer to get to your apartment. Also, if you happen to select an apartment on the south end of the complex, you will be dealing with the continuous odor emanating from the trash compactor on the ground floor stairwell. It can get over powering on the 4th floor hallway and there's no way to eliminate it. Another foul odor is the presence of dog urine at the main entrance, where a majority of dog owners bring their pets to relieve themselves. Nothing like a strong whiff of dog piss on a hot humid day!
Oh, and the pet owners are so lazy, Poo Prints had to be initiated because someone wasn't picking up their dog feces. Great DNA testing for animals. Whether or not this is still being used is a question.
Don't expect individual Wi-fi in your apartment as in the past, but only in the Cyber-Café. There was no rent reduction when the Wi-Fi was taken away from each apartment.
There also used to be a sense of community in the complex years ago, but after 5 different apartment managers in 5 years, that is long gone. read more
