The restaurant is decorated well and the ambiance is chic without being snooty. Our waitress, Katie, was attentive, friendly, and professional. The food, you ask? Well, my husband had the dinner special - chimichurri surf and turf. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and the shrimp was succulent. The asparagus was cooked just as he loves - tender-crisp. I had the "clobster" with homemade chips. Now for those of you who are like me and have eaten lobster rolls in the New England area, Pacific Nortwest, and worldwide coastal areas, this is NOT served cold! I was extremely surprised when I bit in and warmth permeated my mouth! It was delicious but as happens with warm juices, the toasted bun, alas, turned soggy. And a few chips were underdone...the ones cooked well were tasty and crisp. We both shared the chocolate pie and it was rich and satisfying. So, if you find yourself on the Historic 4th, go ahead and take that chance and sup there...you won't regret it!

I visited this restaurant thinking there is no way my picky colleague had eaten here, but it turns…read moreout he did with another colleague when he was visiting town in 2025. This is on the bottom floor of a modern residential building just on the outside of downtown and once inside I thought it was a fairly large sized restaurant for this particular city. The menu consists of many dishes which I typically order, just not sure I would order them in Iowa, that's the only thing. We were sat right away, but when we were led closer to our booth, the hostess held us up while she checked on a nearby computer to make sure the table was in the right area I'm guessing. It was and she motioned us to go toward the one open booth in the center of the restaurant in an area behind the chilled wine cabinets. The interior seems to be a combination of mcm and modern, but I liked it. I ended up choosing the duck breast dish and a cup of lobster bisque. Lobster bisque - small and I didn't see or taste any actual lobster. There were plenty of diced tomatoes and a sliver of green onion in this. The taste was ok though. Duck breast - this was an okay dish. My avid hunting colleague asked me what type duck is it, so I had to look up what type ducks Maple Leaf Farms typically utilizes. Turns out it's the White Pekin ducks, due to their mild un-gamey flavor. They are supposed to be tender but a few if my slices were a bit chewy. Either way, it was a decent dish, but Im not a huge fan of risotto and would probably order something different next time. I was also tempted to order a dessert, because I was in the mood and was curious what a cashew cobbler was. It turns out that it's a lot of ice cream and just a bit of mashed up nuts. It was interesting to say the least. My colleague said his meal was ok, but he was having stomach issues after the first bite, due to something he ate earlier in the day so he ended up not eating another bite and had to throw the rest away, unfortunately. He did say the pork chop was a bit dry anyway.
