In such a niche market of Sign Language Interpreters, this one is definitely the one that fills…read morethat need, and it is the best choice. I just wanted to take this opportunity to compliment Tamar Lani at Isle Interpret, Ron Fiaui at Polynesian Cultural Center, and the Japanese Sign Language Interpreter, Danny Gong. They were able to arrange a Japanese Sign Language translator (日本手話通訳者) on short notice for the two guests (One is from Japan and another one has been in Hawaii for 41 years) whose first language is Japanese Sign Language. They both wanted to attend the Cultural Center and with the Japanese Sign Language translator, both of the guests truly had an amazing time. At a time when it's difficult to get good service, PCC and the folks at Isle Interpret are doing it right. I'd like to give them thanks on their dedication to educating the public about the culture spanning the Pacific. Isle Interpret is accessible via text message, email, or via their online form on their website. Their cancellation process is clear and there is no question as to the terms of their services after you discuss with them what you need for your Sign Language interpreters. Danny was most sensitive to our guests' needs - it was almost like he knew the need and anticipated what the challenges would be, and did his utmost to fulfill the needs of the customer. Many kudos for Danny for his hard work and dedication!

Helping Hands was so much closer to where we live compared to Salvation Army or Goodwill. I like that Helping Hands is truly a nonprofit organization because they don't sell your donated goods to the people who need them. People can come get the goods for free at helping hands. Staff were always very friendly and helpful with unloading my car. They are also very good about giving me the tax write off forms. (Salvation Army has you go to a website to get tax form and I couldn't even create an account successfully on the website. Kept getting error message.) Helping hands drop off times are Monday to Friday from 11 AM to 2 PM so the drop off window is pretty limited.

I always refer my clients there to get free household goods such as bedding, pots and pans, dishes, etc. I always drop off my donations there. Every Christmas - they have Adopt A Family and I love seeing our clients get items they wouldn't be able to get for their family since it is so expensive living here in Hawaii. They also have the Ready To Learn program which gives students school supplies for the upcoming year. They have other programs so please donate any household items or give a monetary donation if you are able! Thank you Helping Hands Hawaii!

We were in need of a birth certificate to be translated for immigration and we were in a hurry to…read moreget it back for processing. We were so happy to have found Nereyda on Yelp. We called and she answered right away and was so friendly and helpful. We sent her the document to review and she responded via text that she received the document and said she could help. She completed the translation and had it available the next day. The price was very reasonable and she said she could drop the translated document in the mail or she could meet us. We opted to meet, due to the time sensitivity of our situation, and agreed on a convenient spot for both of us. She was so easy to work with, quick to respond and was very professional. I highly recommend her services and will use her again if we need anything translated.

I contacted this service in early November 2019, looking for help translating a small booklet…read morewritten in Japanese by an ancestor. We wanted just a translation of the words into English, as a text file - not asking for a new booklet layout, or anything other than straight translation. I had previously talked to another translator who thought it was for publication and had given a very high estimate based on thinking they needed to recreate the booklet. In this case we just wanted the words, couldn't afford the cost of creating a new publication, and just wanted a basic translation of the content at a reasonable cost. I was told they don't typically do Japanese translation but they were working with someone who might be able to do it. I waited to hear back and checked back with them and was told to send some representative pages for their Japanese translator to look at. Then I was told it's possible to do, and they need to know how many pages. The number, or amount of pages. I gave them the exact number. I waited for long stretches of time in between responses and usually had to be the one to prompt them to check the status. Then after SIX WEEKS of waiting and back and forth and feeling like my project definitely wasn't a priority for them, they simply said they can't do the translation. That's the end of story. She says she charges $75/hour and doesn't know how many hours it will take and wanted to get a cheaper price by getting a quote from the 3rd party Japanese translator, but everything took forever just to get basic information exchanged, and after providing everything they asked for I still couldn't get a cost estimate after providing 4 representative pages and explaining there were a total of 44 pages of similar scope and content. I consider this very unprofessional and a total waste of my time. In the meantime I missed the opportunity to have the translation completed before Christmas and if I had simply known to look somewhere else I could have had it done in time to give to some elderly family members for the holidays. I can't speak to their other services but don't even think about asking this "Professional Translation Service" to help with anything Japanese. And whether I ended up becoming their customer or not, I think it's reasonable to have expected better service and communication throughout the process. Unfortunately, I would have to say it has been a very unprofessional and unpleasant experience.
