I also wanted a super light weight rod and reel to fish with my kids and they helped me pick out a great setup. Turns out it was the exact same one I had picked out on Amazon and it was on sale and much cheaper and I got expert help. We were all stoked! This place is more than a shop, it's an experience. They packed the poles and took it to Aloha Cargo that same day. Saturday morning at 7:50am I had the poles in my possession. I was impressed with the guys at New Maui Fishing Supply store how easy and smooth the transaction was handled. They were professional and provided excellent customer service. What took them beyound other companings, is that they called me Saturday morning around 9am to let me know that my poles were mailed to me friday and that I should be getting it in the next day or two. As soon as I arrived, he was there waiting. He seemed a little surprised that a girl wearing pink and big sunglasses was wandering into a shop full of guns and ammo. I explained that I just needed some pepper spray and he gave me an "ah-ha!" look and brought me over to the spot and laid out the two choices. I paid, and left. He was quick and friendly. I didn't spend much time in the store because guns, ammo and camo really aren't really my jam. Nothing wrong with it, I just would rather spend my time looking at tank tops and sparkly things. But from what I saw, they have a huge selection of outdoor enthusiast goods. I saw lots of ammo and camo... definitely a gun store with lots of stuff. Almost every time I shop at your store, we show our local IDs to get the 20% kama'aina discount. We spend upwards of $600+ every other month in your Kahului and Kihei stores. I am a Kama'aina. I look local. I sound local. I split my time between CA and Hi for work. My work requires me to have a CA drivers license, I shopped at the Kihei store two days ago and the employees recognized me and gave me the 20% Kama'aina discount. Today I shopped at the Kahului store. Before checking out, I asked the two clerks if I could get the Kama'aina discount (20%). Both said yes. After checking out, I looked at my receipt and noticed I only got a 10% discount. I asked the clerk why it wasn't a 20% discount. I shared that I just shopped at the Kihei store and was given the 20% discount because they recognized me as a regular kama'aina. She said there is a new policy at the beginning of the year that Kama'aina without a HI drivers license would only get 10% discount. I immediately asked the clerk to return my items. I told her I'd come right back with someone from my Ohana to get the 20% discount. I was abruptly told that no returns are allowed. I didn't even move 2' and wasn't allowed a return. I get it that rules are made to be enforced because there are malihini that try to get the Kama'aina discounts. But come on - it's clear that I'm a local - who splits his time between CA and HI and has to have a CA drivers license for work. I try to support local whenever I can. I spend a lot of money in your store and am always buying gifts because I like your brand. However, my extended Ohana & I will no longer be supporting your brand. Many of us are long time supporters. No more.
