The restaurant was full for the whole evening and we ended up waiting for our table for a good 15 mins despite having reserved. If you want a hearty Austrian meal in town this would be the place for it. The menu is typical Austrian with a few other odd bits thrown in for good measure. They were very apologetic about is being delayed and offered us schnapps on the house more than once. The service was a bit slow and just be aware that this could happen to you. It's a small family run business and patience can be a virtue. Having said that the food more than made up for it. The kitchen closes at 8:30pm so don't get there too late if you want to have more then one course. I had the Zweibelrostbraten and the flavour was amazing. The steak was cooked more than I like but it was tender and tasted good. Everyone else enjoyed their meal also. The best part was the bill. For €100 we had 6 decent sized meals, sides, a bottle of wine, beers and water. I would happily come here again anytime. It's good hearty unpretentious food for a very reasonable price.

The cafe attached to the bakery serves other items like coffee and breakfast and so on. The bread here is decent and the coffee is average. We ended up buying some bread for breakfast and it was freshly baked and tasted good. The cappuccino here was average. Mauterndorf is a small town and choices are pretty slim. It's a good bakery considering the choice is thin.
