Everyone loved her bc she made us all feel Welcomed. There's a pop quiz in the beginning, hahahaha, Nah! I'm joking! She will ask, where ur from, so don't 4get, Lol We went to "The Famous Bagel shop" & a few other shops along our route. All restauranteurs were friendly to us. Most of us didn't speak Parla Vous Francais, but that was ok, bc they speak fluent English in the downtown area. Not , so much outside of downtown, if u venture out. We met @ The Famous Guillame breakfast nook & I bought a Guillame yellow tote bag which came in handy later @ other stores. I threw everything I bought; into this hefty bag. Ok, bk to the walking food tour. It was cold , but bc Dominique was so professional & organized, we didn't have time to feel cold we bounced flawlessly from restaurant to restaurant in ease. She told stories about each restaurant as we ate. U don't have time to get bored bc she keeps u moving. So, don't diddle dally, Lol I'm not sure , if you'll met @ the same spot as we did, but nonetheless; you'll like it. What's funny , i thought i was gonna meet ppl from around the world in our group, but it was mostly ppl from the U. S. A. All East coast at that, bc we don't like to stay home hahaha the world is our oyster . Far north were ppl from Maine, Alaska, Boston, NYC, & Long Island ain't that Special? Hahahaha! So, we felt @ home & the cold didn't bother us bc Montréal weather is like all those States or actually Maine , Alaska & Boston r the coldest probably colder than Montreal. Daniel showed us great churches, banks and government buildings, making us want to come back and explore further. When we said that we wanted to go to the Museum Beaux Arts after our tour, Daniel suggested using the Metro. He walked us to the station, helped us purchase our tickets and clearly told us which lines to take and which stops were the most convenient. Daniel is gracious and welcoming. Montreal is luck to have him.

We are very senior folks, and he tailored the pace and length of our two-hour tour to our physical abilities, as well as our intellectual curiosities. Daniel even took the time to guide us through the machinery at the Metro station so we could buy our fare tickets to go on to a museum in the new city when our time with him was sadly over. But seriously - Marko is a local photographer who's really enthusiastic about his craft and this comes through in his teaching style. He's incredibly patient and can easily adapt his style based on the level of knowledge of those partaking in his photo walks. The walks typically last about 2-2.5 hours and throughout, Marko will often stop to offer up tips and tricks, whether these be about exposure, composition, lighting or how to frame a shot in a unique way. I've been practicing photography for about twenty years and I totally left this walk with some new knowledge under my belt, and a renewed I desire to get back to SLR. Marko really knows his stuff and I plan to do a 1:1 with him when it's warmer. Ok, a LOT warmer! Verdict: If you're newbie looking to learn about photography, or a seasoned pro looking to hone your craft, Marko will cater to your level, and you'll walk away knowing it was money well-spent.

I am the primary family photographer; my husband is a fully functional photographer, loves to learn and was happy to join me in the adventure. Marko began with a 30-minute clear, easy-to-follow mini-lecture on basic exposure and camera techniques. While most of this was not new to me, it was good to hear it stated in such a clear, concise way. Then...the tour. Oh...my goodness! Marko totally not only knows photography...he knows how to TEACH photography. And Marko knows Montreal! He is an instructor who is keenly aware of just the right pace, suggestions, critique, and encouragement his students need. He has more love and enthusiasm for what he does than should be legal! If you spend a couple of hours with Marko and your heart for photography hasn't grown five times bigger...you may want to take your pulse to check if you HAVE a heart. Whether you are a beginner, or feel like you have a fairly good grasp on basic photography, exposure, composition, etc. - this is a tour that will change the way you use your camera as well as change the way you see your world. Marko is an experienced, professional, and excellent photographer - and an energetic teacher and coach. To top it all off...this morning I had an email from Marko with links to TWO of his e-books. They are both excellent and are filled with photographs taken by Marko. Exposure Exposed is 100 pages of pictures and easy to follow instructions, tips, and clearly explained techniques. When I was planning a solo trip to Montreal recently, I knew I had to take in one of their walking tours. I only had time for one (I would have done more than one if I'd had one more day), so I picked "Beyond the Bagel" - 3-4 hour walking tour of Mile End and Plateau. It was fantastic. My tour (on a weekend) was small - just me and another couple. Our tour guide was great - very knowledgeable and friendly. And it was amazing to not have to wait in line to get to try some of those famous Jewish Montreal foods (I was especially grateful for this when we stopped at Schwartz's and I saw that line). I learned so much, got to see so much of a few of Montreal's historic Jewish neighborhoods, and tried some great food. I definitely recommend this tour (and others) if you're interested in the history of Montreal's Jewish community, Montreal's Jewish foods (including Montreal bagels, smoked meats, and more), or just want to see a different part of Montreal! We met at Rialto Theater with 8 of us. Our guide had pastries ready which is a great way to start off, and then we walked into Cheskie's bakery where they were from to see what it look liked inside. Then we took a walk while she talked about the original history of the neighborhood, tried their local bagels (kind of sweet as made with honey water, had it with Liberté cream cheese which I'm told is the only way to go), we walked to another bakery to get some rugelach, and ended up getting pastrami from Schwartz's which had a huge line (that we were able to cut!) We saw a lot of historic buildings, some used for new purposes, some just the former locations. It was really interesting. If you come, bring a big bottle of water! It's a lot of walking and that's not included in the food. I got to try a lot of food I hadn't before and if i were in town longer, I'd hit up those establishments for other goodies. A lot of learning and good snacks. It's a lot of carbs though! You will be full. So do the walking tour, it ends at the museum which is not much, but at least you can sit a sec before carrying on with your day. Was really fun and unique!
